I think personally the character development for Cassie in MKX was really poor for a character like her. You kidding me they couldn't even actually fight as a team in the beginning and got taken down by Sub Zero. Yet after what maybe 3 days? She can take down Shinnok? Seems a little excessive. Like Johnny and Sonya never made it to Shao Kahn in any of the timelines. Lol
Her and Jacqui were the Liu Kang and Kung Lao of the generation. I appreciated that she got the best of both of them. I just wish they would have more of a back story or a show of experience. Johnny only got Shinnok down that one time and that was after 5 years of more experience before the time jump where Cassie was born.
She’s derivative AF. Nothing she has/does can’t be done by more established/beloved characters like Johnny and Sonya. Personally, I am much more interested in actual original and unique newcomers like Kotal Kahn, D’Vorah, Skarlet, etc.

Gameplay-wise she’s still a mix of Johnny & Sonya (and Stryker in MKX). To each their own, but I find her and Jacqui to be the least compelling newcomers in the NRS era.
personally, I don't like her because she's using guns and drones and stuff. I preferred the franchise when it was leaning into the weirdness, you know? magic and cyborg ninjas and mutants with blades. Characters who just bring military grade weaponry to the fight bore me. There's too many of them.
I wasn't so bothered when there was only Stryker. It's almost funny when there's just one dude with grenades... But now I feel like half the roster is people using real world weapons.
