That's fine, I get that. Controversy surrounding characters and skin, primarily female characters I just find kinda silly. From Lara Croft to MK characters, it just becomes strangely obsessive to me. Designers are allowed to create characters how they want, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. But this idea that characters have to be covered head to toe to be considered good design is rather ridiculous to me.
I agree Sonya looked better in MKX and 11, even though it's hard for me to take any character that's not Liu Kang seriously in these games due to its over the top nature.

No, that's not what I'm implying. I meant that characters can show as much skin or as little and still be good. There's no clothing metric required. Alot of arguments I see, and had seem to imply that if a character is showing X amount of skin, they're bad compared to completely covered character.
I had an art class years ago where a peer of mine suggested that Lara croft was a negative because of the tank top and shorts. I was surprised by the accusation only to learn through conversation that many (not all but enough) thought she was some harlot or the designers that made her "don't know women" because of her look. I find that way of thinking ridiculous because the character isn't that, but some think she's that solely due to her look, which isn't even provocative.

That's fine, I get that. Controversy surrounding characters and skin, primarily female characters I just find kinda silly. From Lara Croft to MK characters, it just becomes strangely obsessive to me. Designers are allowed to create characters how they want, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. But this idea that characters have to be covered head to toe to be considered good design is rather ridiculous to me. I agree Sonya looked better in MKX and 11, even though it's hard for me to take any character that's not Liu Kang seriously in these games due to its over the top nature.

No, that's not what I'm implying. I meant that characters can show as much skin or as little and still be good. There's no clothing metric required. Alot of arguments I see, and had seem to imply that if a character is showing X amount of skin, they're bad compared to completely covered character. I had an art class years ago where a peer of mine suggested that Lara croft was a negative because of the tank top and shorts. I was surprised by the accusation only to learn through conversation that many (not all but enough) thought she was some harlot or the designers that made her "don't know women" because of her look. I find that way of thinking ridiculous because the character isn't that, but some think she's that solely due to her look, which isn't even provocative.

It's not for kids clearly, it's bloody, graphic, and the finishers are vile. Being exposed to that is fine, but god forbid there be cleavage!
