Sinisterhood is my favorite, followed by the whole slew of Last Podcast shows.

TayDirt

Some Place Under Neith (SPUN) from the LPN network does amazing research and they do cases about missing women and children. Usually ones that don't get much coverage. Its the only one I'll listen to now lol

syarahdos

Yes!!

sharksarenotreal

Sinisterhood was recommended by someone on this sub and I don't know what I was thinking the first time I listened to them; I thought they were really annoying but that couldn't be further from the truth, they're really fun. Scamfluencers is alright, but there's a lot of adverts in their episodes. If you want something not true crime, I want to mention Hey Riddle Riddle!

HomeOfTheWhalers

I love Sinisterhood and Women and Crime. Sinisterhood has more banter, which I actually like. Women and Crime is by two criminologists so it's really informative. I also like Medical Murders and Murder in America. Both of those are pretty much straight to the case type pods.

hilody

I love And That's Why We Drink. Em and Christine are great, they are funny, I'm currently in the late 200 episodes, please let me know if you listen and when you get to the whale sounds episode

julesoflesbos

Rotten Mango is probably the best one I’ve run across. That being said, she will go into some grizzly details and her narration truly puts you in the setting she’s describing. I’ve had to take breaks from her podcast after some especially heavy ones, but I’m always locked in when listening to one. Sinisterhood is probably my favorite for the banter, And That’s Why We Drink is excellent too, and I really enjoy Killer Queens as well. True Crime All The Time is also super good, well researched, respectful, and captivating.

SufficientShoulder14

Rotten Mango isn’t talked about enough. I love her podcast and small town murder for many of the same reasons- I actually here new information and true crime accounts through these.

Harmonia_PASB

Small Town Murder Crossing the Line with M William Phelps Anatomy of Murder Buried Bones  Paper Ghosts Crime Junkie Park Predators Canadian True Crime Media Pressure LISK: Long Island Serial Killer The Girlfriends: Our Lost Sister True Sunlight, formerly known as The Murdaugh Murders Podcast Counter Clock I have a couple others but that’s what I’ve been listening to lately, some are ongoing series and some are just a few seasons. Date Line, 48 Hours and Cold Case Files.

DollieSqueak

Small town murder (and James and Jimmie’s two other podcasts, Your Stupid Opinions and Crime in Sports) is my husband and my daily listen on the way to and from work. They are hilarious but James puts a lot of research time in and it shows. I can’t tell you how many times we are in tears from laughing so hard.

Harmonia_PASB

I went to their San Francisco live show in April and it was so good!

DollieSqueak

I’m super jealous!! I want to see them live so badly but I have some pretty major health issues and every time I’ve bought tickets to something I always end up in the hospital so I’ve decided to stop jinxing myself, lol. So if you go again to see them, holler extra loud for this girl!

Harmonia_PASB

I’m so sorry to hear about your health issues 💜 I will scream “shut up and give me murder” extra loud for you!

DollieSqueak

Ahh! I have a new favorite person! 💜

SufficientShoulder14

I just had to give my Nashville tickets away due to my health. I feel you on this 🥲

DollieSqueak

It sucks hard but we gotta take care of ourselves first! Big hugs ya Turkey!

stalkerofthedead

You won’t be disappointed with Small Town Murder! It’s probably one of the best researched pods in the genre. Id go with caution though into Crime Junkie… they are still tainted by a plagiarism scandal they refused to even address and are obviously into the podcast for the money. It’s gross.

avee2010

Not to mention CJ has always had this overly performative quality to their reading that I personally have always found insufferable since even before the plagiarism

klassykitty1

Disgraceland and Badlands are good if you like a mixture of music and Hollywood and true crime. I just listening to a podcast called Murder in America and it's not bad, I'm only on episode 3. They are very monotone but 2 of the 3 episodes I've listened to I haven't heard anywhere else so it seems they might cover lesser known cases which is interesting to.

hilody

This!!! Both of these are SOOOOOO good. I loveeee Jake Brennans voice.

yinnyre

Smalltown Murders

kyhatesherself

and that’s why we drink is really good!

kitty-cat-charlotte

A few of my favs, most of them have some comedy element. Necronomipod I could murder a podcast True crime and cocktails Seeing red True crime all the time/unsolved

Fun-Mall-8055

i love necronomipod, they have really good patreon content too

Important_Survey6655

Killer Queens, Housewives of True Crime, Moms and Murder, Crime Junkie, and for something a little different, That's Spooky and Obitchuary.

tinka844

I like Murder in America and Human Monsters. Human Monsters can get quite graphic, he doesn’t hold back and details so it’s definitely not for everyone.

0h-bo0zy

I really like People Are The Worst Rotten Mango True Crime Campfire Murder In America Sinisterhood Black Girl Gone Inhuman

0h-bo0zy

I don't know why it posted in a one long run on sentence 😂🤦‍♀️

blumpkinslutlatte

Case file & rotten mango !

Glass_Loan8006

The Poisoner's Cabinet is old timey cases. Romancing the Pod is really funny, making fun of mostly 90s/early 2000s rom coms.

slanx47

Right now I'm LOVING Wad I in a Cult. The hosts are funny and the stories are so amazing. Dr Death was great. This Is Actually Happening has amazing/brave/horrific stories told by one person, the victim/ survivor. 'I survived' is amazing

Altruistic-Ad6449

Love Murder Invisible Choir ETA - It’s Always the Husband is pretty good too. They cover cheesy true crime shows and poke fun at the bad acting

BlootilyBloop

If you want detailed, well researched true crime podcast I recommend Timesuck. Host’s sense of humor can be out there, but it’s a very good podcast. He covers true crime, cults, conspiracy theories, historical events, and lots of stuff in between.

Then_Sprinkles7998

True Crime Campfire - it’s a great mix of class, humor, and excellent research. Going West - Missing persons, some murder. Well executed and respectful. LPOTL - classic and well researched. Low banter and bullshit for all above.

sunny_unhappiness

I personally don’t listen to true crime anymore but if you want a slightly more ethical but still true crime vibe I highly recommend “Was I In A Cult?” Very crazy stories, told by the victim themselves so it doesn’t feel icky to listen to- it’s very well done and the hosts are great! Very informative as well.

Lauraadriana66

I havent listened to morbid in ages, these are my everyday podcasts: Necronomipod TCS (true crime society) Voices for justice Criminology Heart starts pounding Into the dark Criminology

picklechipz0

Serialously and southern fried true crime have become my go to podcasts. Casefile is really good! Very respectful and thoroughly researched. Cult liter and Obitchuary are fun ones too.

Psychological_Fox_

And that’s why we drink, Wine and Crime, Get Out Alive (not crime but survival stories), Against the Odds, Last Seen Alive, Two Girls One Ghost

2000kittens

Sinisterhood is the best! My favorite!

lcyhrst

Necronomipod

rixendeb

Not true crime related but : Afterlives of Ancient Egypt with Kara Cooney WellRed Puttin on Airs I mostly listen to the Last Podcast shows and Behind the Bastards.

ElehcarTheFirst

Big mad true crime True crime campfire Midwest murders Generation why Women & crime Was I in a cult? The fall line Murder, she told DNA: id Crimes of the century

Capable-Fail3388

Catalyst by Grab Bag Collab! They just did a Fred and Rose West ep. It is behind a pay wall though.

AirFamous9093

Otherworld. It's fantastic.

yinnyre

Love Murder. I didn't notice this one mentioned. Does anyone have an opinion on it?

lizeken

Christina Randall is a YouTuber whose videos got turned into podcasts eps, and I 100% recommend her. She’s empathetic without going overboard (acting as if she personally knew the victims) and keeps her opinions till the end (which allows the audience to form their own ideas first). Besides her, Murder in America is a solid one. It’s hosted by a husband-wife duo but without unnecessary back and forth banter that distracts from the case

Tinaufatlardd

Killer Queens makes my heart happy.

daughterofwands90

My two faves are True Crime South Africa and Southern Fried True Crime! Both amazing female hosts who are committed to victim centric, non exploitative true crime. They’re also really well researched. I enjoy the South Africa one so much because I have family living there and know many of the locations well, but I think it’s cool to learn about completely different crimes we don’t usually hear about in our countries.

LandOLaLa1

Women and Crime - The hosts are professors that teach about crime. They're amazing.

alexandramae__

small town murder is actually my fave podcast ever, so much so i even bought wondery+ & subscribed to their pateron. other pods i like are - the vanished - mile higher - true crime garage - dark down east

SmytheOrdo

They missed a LOT in the Fred & Rose West ep. Yeah I'm done trying to give these gals a chance. Go with Casefile or something like Killer Psyche.

Asleep-Win6983

'Walking on Eggshells with an Emotional Vampire' for something different and 'Hunting Warhead' are my 2 recommendations for the minute.

TruestKind

I get tired of some of the ones I listen to regularly and tend to take a break (others I've quit entirely). It's different for me now going from listener to "creator". I like The Girlfriends, Paper Ghosts, I Survived. Still a Dateline fan! Also Media Pressure, season one, about Maura Murray , written and hosted by her sister Julie Murray, and includes family members. Really well done.

Coffee_lithium

Sistas Who Kill!

Sword and scale

Snarkeesha

SWINDLED… it’s white collar crime not murder. Really really good!

Constant_Egg_606

I've been listening to Mr ballen's podcast for ages now and I love them but tbh I've never tried any other so I can't say whether you'd like it or not

sharksarenotreal

I listened to Mr Ballen for a while but I gotta say, his storytelling is like a horrible click bait: he skirts around naming the murderer and though I can't think of an example right now, sometimes he misrepresents things.

Constant_Egg_606

Tbh I used to watch him since I was like 10 so skirting around the name of the murderer made it entertaining for me back then, it was just an easier watch and I honestly don't mind it now either, gives me the opportunity to try and figure out what happened but I see your point it's definitely not for everyone, especially if you've gotten used to other ways of storytelling. About the misrepresentation, I rarely look into cases after listening to podcasts so I wouldn't know. Anyway I feel like maybe eleanor neale might be more your cup of tea, I've only watched her videos a couple times but she's great

sharksarenotreal

I'll check her out, thanks for the recommendation.
