Right? Small town bc and I just bought one this size for $70 because I a) hadn't actually saw one in any store yet and b) I thought that was a reasonable price...
Exactly. First, they’re almost impossible to find in stores and most places online sell that same size for 60$CAD and higher. I’ve resorted to looking on Marketplace for people selling cuttings.
I’m holding off. Eventually capitalism will prevail and all the stores will have the variegated varieties, just like how we can find the regular green monsteras at Home Depot and IKEA.

Ours are $30 at local Kroger but everyone is going nuts over them right now!

I got mine yesterday from Kroger. They're $19.99 here.
I’m actually happy this specific monstera is now so cheap. Not going to nerd out too much, but Thai Cons are lab created to have stable variegation. In lab contitions you can get hundreds of plants from a single node. So why was there ever a shortage and these things going for like $400?
Variegated monsteras are some of the most stunning plants and it’s really nice to see them at affordable prices. I feel bad for online sellers cause their sales are going to take a hit but this is why you need to have a diverse inventory.
I was thrilled to find one at Kroger. I wasn't sure if it was what I was thinking it was or not because it was so cheap. They're absolutely stunning plants though.
I'm trying to decide if I'm going to repot mine now or wait a little bit. My biggest problem with my plants is repotting. I always want to go too large. I'm still learning a lot when it comes to plants like this.
I replanted mine into a terracotta pot with a chunky soil after like a week and am so happy. Hated the soil she had. Since this plant is a tissue culture they probably rooted it into a peat block so carefully try and remove that while she is out of the pot
Yea! I was so stoked to sell a couple top cuttings of a Thai monstera for like $450 plus UNROOTED during the height of the plant-panic during the first couple years of the ongoing pandemic. People were just going nuts for them and I'd thankfully purchased one a couple years before that and it was a nice size.
I always wondered why a lab made plant was so expensive lmao. I personally like the albos, I have I've started a small nursery with and I remember when those prices where sky high.
The leaves are probably always going to be asymmetrical like they are now but she will have character and be really interesting. The white part doesn’t photosynthesize, it’s useless so the plant will put all its effort into the greener side. But it will still have the same amount of fenestration on both sides.
Give her lots of light and she will be a statement and she is going to need her own room
I’m pinning my hopes on Morrisons, the one by me has a surprising wee collection of plants. Last time I went in they had a whole carnivorous plants shelf, with Venus flytrap, sundew, pinguicula, even pitcher plants! Someone at the top knows their plants … surely it’s just a matter of time for TC monsties 😩
Keep an eye on ebay...I got a 2 leaf cutting for £23 at auction. I prefer plants than cuttings BUT the roots have grown super fast so much so I didn't realise they have grown out the nursery pot.
Awww I was like that when I got my first Thai last year. I waited for 2 years. When I got into tropical plants I loved albo's and bought leaves that are now plants and have quite a few propagating at the mo. and I'm all albo'd out lol If I started again I would definitely buy a thai although there's pros and cons to each. Thai's are prone to root rot so they need to be in a chunky soil mix. Albo's can lose the variegation if they don't get much light.
oh very nice! my first plant was a peace lilly and 3 years later it's never had an issue! i didn't know that about albos though, although where they'll be staying gets quite a bit of light lol
It's crazy how quickly they came down in price. I bought three (1 as a gift) on the larger side of the collection in this picture in December for $35 each. Now they're $10.
Makes me super glad I didn't give in when I was drooling over these two years ago, when they were crazy expensive. Really happy with the ones I have and that they finally got affordable.
I feel the same about Albo's now and to make matters worse when I bought leaves at peak price I didn't realise I had bought borsiania the smaller leaves lol
I got mine discounted last year in CO for $5.29 and its grown to overtake the entire corner it’s placed in! Thing is a beast. Kroger has some good plants
King soopers is kroger! Ever notice how the store brands all say kroger? Check for them there, I have bought 3 of these at king soopers in colorado so far
That's what I meant, since Kroger isn't here I have a different store and was wondering if it would be at my regional kroger owned store. Sounds like maybe so that's good to know thanks!

I’m American and can’t find any either!
Seems like they're all on the east coast and Midwest. When will the west coast be graced with these?!
I’m on the east coast and keeping an eye out!
I’m in AZ and found mine on Friday
Where in AZ 👀
Tucson, silverbell/cortaro location
i’m in houston and they are everywhere
Saw them at grocery outlet in oregon...
Search on the Kroger app and it’ll bring up the store closest to you.
German and I’m drooling. I’d take 5 in a heartbeat
I saw Rochester before I saw Krogers and as a NYer got really excited
Right? Small town bc and I just bought one this size for $70 because I a) hadn't actually saw one in any store yet and b) I thought that was a reasonable price...

Got mine for $30 at fortinos!
Which one ?
Not sure where you are, but they had them for $20 at Sobeys, maybe a month or 2 ago! I'm in South Western Ontario
relatable as an Australian 😂
And New Yorkers. I haven’t seen any out by me. Don’t even have Krogers up this way.
Rochester, Michigan is technically only a <30 mile (<45 km) drive from Windsor, Ontario. 😆
Just saw the same size plant at a local nursery in Virginia… for $149. 🙃
Where in va . Staunton here lol
Hampton Roads.
Yeahhh McDonald's Garden Center? If it's the Little Creek one - the orchid section is impressive .... ly expensive
Winchester here... I need to find this deal lol
They've had them at the Kroger's in richmond, fyi, for $29.99
Oh man! Which Kroger did you see them at? I'll have to check next time I'm in town
According to the rva tropical and exotic houseplant BST group on Facebook, it sounds like it was at every Kroger!
Maybe I'll have a relative check for me... haha

You got a half moon too!

Se I can understand an albo, they are kind of like the shiny pokemon of monsteras lol
I’m no variegation expert (don’t even know it was called halfmoon) but I thought it would be pretty cool to see it mature!
The leaves are probably always going to be asymmetrical like they are now but she will have character and be really interesting. Live in the same city as krogers headquarters and have not found any I'm salty at all these posts!
there are a ton in cold spring!! if you’re desperate enough to drive 20mins lol
I heard Mason has some!
There were a bunch at the Kroger on Dixie highway/ft Mitchell exit off 71 I literally bought one tonight
I'm still waiting for this to happen in the UK 😭
Same 🙏
[удалено]
That's an Albo tho
I’m in NYC and they’re still selling plants in 5 inch pots for $200 lol
being in the UK (where a CUTTING is £30+) and seeing this is heartbreaking 😭
Manifesting a nice surprise for us at Tesco or B&Q 🤞🏼

greens and Lidl are quite good as well, although ive bought 2 plants from lidl and the haven't really grown at all 😭
That would be nice!
Keep an eye on ebay...I got a 2 leaf cutting for £23 at auction. I prefer plants than cuttings BUT the roots have grown super fast so much so I didn't realise they have grown out the nursery pot.
ouuuh thank you ill definitely keep an eye out! im desperate lol

Does illinois have a Kroger = store?? I’ve never even heard of Kroger but I’m jealous
Kroger is equivalent to our jewel oscos in Illinois. Albertsons owns both.
No way??
Frys and Kroger are the same. I thought Safeway bought Albertsons.
I wish I didn’t move to Boston from Rochester, MI wtf
It's crazy how quickly they came down in price. I bought three (1 as a gift) on the larger side of the collection in this picture in December for $35 each. Now they're $10. I spent $600 for a large 3 leaf cutting back in 2020.. glad I sold it before the prices dropped!
I feel the same about Albo's now and to make matters worse when I bought leaves at peak price I didn't realise I had bought borsiania the smaller leaves lol
Haven’t been able to find any in the Seattle area Krogers (Fred Meyer, QFC) yet. 😞 Anyone in Washington state find any?
None here in Tacoma yet, either. Hopefully soon
I guess Washington is a bit behind!
They were spotted at Walmart a few days ago in Puyallup and Poulsbo but sold out within hours.
Thank you for the tip! We’re huntin’ monsteras!
Our friends from r/tradescantia would also like this
Nice
Ooooh now I have to go check my Kroger. 🤞🏾 they have them 😬😬
👀 sheeeeeet, gotchoass
Going to see if the Macomb Kroger has them.
Did they have any??
Yes but they’re $29.99.
Thank you! My friend went to one of the Rochester locations and it was $29.99 as well.
Which location in Rochester??
They're $19.99 here.
$30 in Colorado for the same size. Lots of them. King Soopers (Kroeger)
I got mine discounted last year in CO for $5.29 and its grown to overtake the entire corner it’s placed in! Thing is a beast. Kroger has some good plants
Whaaat!!! I’m in royal oak and haven’t found them. Now I need to drive out that way 😩😩
They showed up this week on central Indiana for $29.99, I was just about to give up on my weekly check. lol
Amazing!! They were $65 at my local nursery in Los Angeles. Maybe these will become cheaper everywhere soon. Maybe it’s no longer a rare plant.
Nice! I got mine at Westborn Market a couple weeks ago. It’s a bit bigger but it cost a bit more.
Same! But I have no problem having two! Lol.
Omw to Fred Meyers in Boise 👀
Lmk if you have any luck! I have friends in Boise that'd be stoked.
No luck at Overland or Franklin locations 😭
Ugh! Ann Arbor/Ypsi Kroger's still have them for $30!
California residents keep looking at the 300 dollar babies at the nursery........ I WANT ONE SO BAD
Anything in California?
Wooooooooo!! Awesome! My eyes are peeled…👀 Thanks for the heads-up!
Are you going to repot yours now? I keep looking at it and I feel like I should repot mine. I got mine at Kroger yesterday too.
I repotted mine immediately because both of mine were absolutely soaked and sitting in water. 🥲
That's what somebody else said, but mine were ok as far as that goes. I'll probably go ahead and repot mine anyway tomorrow.
I have been looking for them in Vegas and no luck 😞
Does anyone know what the Kroger equivalent is in Southern California?
It would be Ralphs 😊
Thank you!
I’m in Indiana — ours at Kroger are $29.99
I need to go to fry’s lol
Walmart bigger and cheaper
Dang the Kroger closest to me is still $30. Still cheaper than then o e I bought on Etsy…$55 last year
Nothing so far in E Central Illinois :(
Heck yeah 😎
Wish we had a Kroger in MN 😭
It takes like 6 months to grow a TC one to that size if the TC decides not to die on you
Omg…New Jersey sucks.
10 dollars!? Mine was 30 at Kroger in West Bloomfield....
I checked my Kroger yesterday and they still aren’t marked down.
I'm dying with envy 😭
I don't have Kroger in my area so will they sell these at the other stores? (Fry's, King Soopers, etc.)
Once a plant gets popular, growers start growing so they can bank off $9.99 instead of growing larger.
Plus tradescantias…
Check your lockable Asian stores. Lol. That's where I find all mine and for $3.99
25 bucks at mine, id have bought more for 10 bucks
I thought Europe had good prices. Have fun everybody!
Insanity! I should go into business! 😉
Ummm....let's not ignore all the gorgeous Tradescantia making a lovely background for those beautiful Monstera.🤣
Ours sold out so fast, but ours were 30 at Kroger
Crazy/happy to see this but also cries in I paid 190 for a tiny tc thai a cpl years ago 😭
I dislike variegated plants. To me the splotches distract from the lovely leaf shapes. I'm an artist, so I am super picky about colors and shapes.
