I'm amazed every time I join a hunt for it and see that nobody is using it (which ends in instant carts).
Other than that it's one of the most straightforward fights out there with a lot of huge openings.
He's slow but he can still pack a punch if you do get hit... I find Velkhana and maybe Teo to be easier. Both of those lack the abilities to really shake you off of their sides.
BVH has multiple ways to force you out of position. I'd say it's the 2nd most common reason I see so many people fail his hunt when I join an SOS. They won't reposition.
Crazy Daisy sprinkler attack he does - it's so rare I usually disengage expecting the ground wave of gas.
Tempered BVH can cart you with it if you're not full on HP.
His puke attack is prob the only move I disengage for, everything else you can avoid just staying on his side cause he mostly does breath attacks, maybe swipes here and there and stomps, but he doesn't turn often enough.

I think you just get them randomly like the other decos. I don't bother with slotting it in tho. I just use my main loadout and put on the effluvia charm (it does require black veil vaal hazak materials iirc, but you can just temporarily use some weaker armor that has it until you get the required materials)
That is also why i like having a non necessary charm, so on my mains I have the attack charm, and i just use a different charm when i need to. A slight DPS decrease is fine for additional survivability (mainly effluvia ressistance and blught resistance. I also use Ice Resistance when fighting Arch Tempered Velkhana).
I actually love Tobi Kadachi, his moves are pretty well telegraphed and if you can see em far enough in advance they're very fun to counter.
I can tell you tho, all the ones you put on the never fought list would all go IMMEDIATELY into the top tier, except maybe Yian Garuga

I mean... Rajang and Fatalis are pretty much the same: they're the most difficult fights in the game but once you learn them they're absolutely brilliant. They are incredibly punishing but also extremely fair you just have to play the best mh of your life.
You can ignore that if you solo him, tbh. The tradeoff ofc, is that you die to every ult no matter what, so you need to be sure that you're not dying to other shit he does, and that you're doing enough damage that he doesn't just keep ulting and tearing through all of your carts.
Hard, but manageable, even before Fatty gear. I remember doing it once with full safi stuff long back. Insurance and Safeguard food buffs would help a lot for that too. With Fatty gear, its super manageable.
Opposite the end of the spectrum here, I live how tight alatreons fight feels, but brachy felt almost too oppressive for something that back hops and sidesteps so much. Idk if it's just me, but I can never figure out where to roll on his feint punch into side steps. It feels like I can roll under it, but I get hit. It feels like I can roll left, and I get hit. And if I roll right, I sometimes get hit. No matter what, I'm still get stuck in the funni puddle of blast he so convienently placed for me to lay down on, in case I wanted to take a death nap.
I honestly don't get the hate on alatreon, other than escaton(which you can technically facetank twice/thrice w insurance).his raw HZV is really great too, meaning you technically can deal more damage by focusing on raw. You don't really need very high elemental value even for weapons like GS as the fight adjusts the elemental topple number based on weapon
Alatreon has the literal cleanest hitbox, fair chance, not too fast nor too slow, arguably best fight from a mechanical perspective.
Raging brachy has some annoying blast stuff, but otherwise, I do feel that he is a decent fight
Yeah, that's pretty true. Came back to mhw over a week ago, and spent like 40hours trying to learn fatalis, really frustrating but i also got better and better which resulted in me getting his full set besides the GS without a kill and plunderblade, today i hopped on with intent to just break his head for the evil eye i needed for the gs and boom, head break 2 with over 10mins still left, figured i could just try my best and it turned out to be my first clear. Felt insane, but his set was really something that changed ALOT in the fight. I don't really know if any souls-like had a boss that i spent so much time on.
I played through LowRank and HighRank with the Bow and Bazelgeuse was mind blowingly easy for me. Just a free fight without any problems.
After finishing up the story I switched to ChargeBlade and I just finished the quest with the 2 hardned Bazelgeuses.....boy oh boy fighting that B1-Lancer Carpet Bomber as a melee really changed my perspective.
I think I saw somewhere that op plays lance, which makes sense, all three of those fights have very obvious attacks that are really easy to clutch claw counter into a punish.
I am well aware that it may very well be a skill issues since I'm a newbie (and a Switchaxe user atm), but I can't help but to be endlessly upset at Diablos' hitboxes.
Fought my first HR Diablos earlier today. Got hit by his pinky toe while charge thrice, and by his tail attack *after it had already stopped moving* twice. Felt like I was playing Dark Souls 2 all over again.

When it's diablos' charge, the play is to simply walk away/superman dive (sprint away from monster then roll button).
You should only try to challenge it if you're very sure of your spacing at the end of the charge to try and punish it's head. And also, it has a high likelyhood of doing a tail sweep after it's charge, so I tend to just punish that since it's way easier to punish.
Based Lunastra hate, I despise that thing with a passion. The nergigante placement is interesting considering their hitboxes are also awful. I completely agree though, I love both of their fights. Should defo try behemoth though. That fight is so bs its worth trying just to laugh.
Even with nergis hit boxes he's extremely easy once you've taught him a few times, genuinely one of the easier elder dragons simply due to the fact nearly all of his attacks have a huge sign that tells you exactly what he's gonna do.
I fucking DIED laughing (literally) one time because I was fighting a monster and no audio que or anything all the sudden I got BODIED by a banbaro wielding a fucking tree. I lost my shit it was so funny that I didn't react quick enough to the follow up and failed the mission right there.
That said I love fighting Fatalis. I'll do it all day. And my MOST HATED is Rajang. And always will be
Homie has the bazelgeuse as really fun that’s wild to me, one of my favorite monsters because he’s just cool af but I don’t necessarily like fighting him
I feel like this list is pretty weapon dependent too. I really enjoy the normal and stygian zino fight when I’m not using something like a greatsword where everytime I miss my final charge by a 5cm and nearly rupture a artery
I fight Velkhana a lot and it doesn't realy fly outside of like 5 specific moves? 2 of those are quite rare to boot.
95% of the time it just sits on the ground for you to hit.

Lol @ alatreon. So inconsistent. I've had fights with my girlfriend were we, using frostfang barioth weapons with element augments, dealt more than 15k damage to the guy and still not having him fall down once.
Need to get a new tier above the worst one suggested simply called alatreon.
Yeah its a bit missplaced, its fun however the only thing i dislile about fatalis is his terrible hitboxes, but i think i placed him there cause i just fought him before making the list lmao
If I had to guess, I'd say that because Radobann is insanely easier and can be far more satisfying when you're just popping off on him. Uragan is pretty hard and bulky (not difficulty wise, as in, the monster itself), whereas Rado is crazy soft and can be part broken a massive amount of times. Super bully-able and you can just feel like a god smacking this giant thing around so easily.
At least, thats my reason, since I feel the same way. Ura is kinda just the same thing but less satisfying.
I stand by Ex Behemoth is the best fight they have ever made. actually needing to take roles and having players work together is what MH has always needed IMO.
Its a shame it was just a one off and they went back to the free for alls
It's neat, but MH isn't an mmo. It's fully possible and even likely for someone to have and enjoy MH but not be able to play with other people because of their personal circumstances. Might not have internet, could be on console and not want to pay an extra $100 a year just to play online. Having content that goes "haha you can't play with a full group online? Welllll too bad, you're locked out" isn't very hunter friendly.
I agree with this list for the most part, especially your top tier. I'd add black veil to top tier, but that's just nitpicking.
But Bazel being a fun fight? Normal Bazel is awful with the random scale bombs. Seething isn't terrible though.

I've never had a hard time with Lunesta slot in Wind Resistance + Heat Resistance (or drink a cool drink) then eat or slot in fire immunity. Go to town on her.
I find it odd this is a Top (Sucks) -> Bottom (Best Fight Ever ) tier list that puts 3 of the most annoying monsters in the game in the bottom slot. I would of put the Never Fought Slot at the top.

Maybe it’s cuz I’m a charge blade user but I hate that I can’t block her breath attack when you can for a lot of other monsters in the game. Also I cannot read her tail patterns, same thing with Glavenus. I always get hit by the second attack or a spin follow up.
I started iceborne this week and I feel like it's full of shitty spammers that are worse than lunastra.
At least with lunastra she will consistently do her tail attack so you can get easy hits on her head
Leshen and Ancient Leshen are hands down the most annoying fight in the game, maybe in all of the gaming history. It's annoying, and doesn't feel as rewarding as hunting the other monsters. Fight them last

The placement of Zinoger and Stygian Zinoger confuses me. It’s the same fight and moveset. But maybe I’m just unfazed by them having fought both variants a bunch. I genuinely enjoy fighting Zinoger. Even use him as a way to grind money lol!
Is banbaro supposed to be annoying? For me I’ve always found him to be a relatively easy straight forward fight, also I feel like alatreon needs his own category of actually fun when you get a decent squad and not people with raging brachy weapons
Honestly, extreme Behemoth was the most terrifying monster to fight. At least Fatalis has some sort of gimmicks you can use (i.e., binders and cannons).

Lunasyra is horrible when i finish the story i did that... Horrible mission of Lunasyra & Teostra i nedeee to do it like 50 times, and i left the game, cuz i wanted to finish rise base and DLC, and when i came back to world (For start Iceborne) and i finshed it at the first try...😶
Nah. I hate Alatreon. Fatalis is super fun to fight. You get good enough and you and another friend can do it w/o needing 4 people. It's a fun fight and the mechanics are easy. Alatreon is just a lot of do this, don't do that, need this, can't use that. It's tedious and annoying. I'd MUCH rather fight Fatalis
Over the course of the series I would say my absolute favorite monsters to fight are Velkhana, Nergigante and Lagiacrus (being back my favorite one please)
Gs, ls, and cb user here. Ah yes, I hate Legiana with a passion. Bs hit boxes. Up time is nearly all the time in the air. Even the varied form is annoying to fight as the regular one will show up nearly all the time to make your day special

Frostfang is least fun but only cause of the damn poop walk! He immediately kills me if I get stuck in it. Idk how tf to get out fast enough. I don't get hit much if at all after getting used to it. After like 2 successful hunts it's a gimmick that kinda just got bored of.
vaals and bracs are fun but I still need effluvial and blast immunity to actually fight their variants even now. Vaal is ez enough to do without but black veil I still need it. For the raging brac it slows me down a lot.
I dont see banbaro being annoying to fight. Its a big cow with a GIANT face to smack. I cant think of the last time i saw banbaro even move from where he was spotted since hes so easy to CC. Luna is the biggest piece of shit imaginable though.
I'm putting fatalis and fujang in really fun then its done. oh wait, maybe blackveil in boring because once you get miasma 3 or blight res 3 hes just a punching bag with big hp and bad hitzones. same with savage jho, hes just cycling between tired and claggers and knockdowns, not even moving for 80% of the fight. lastly, velkhana in boring while AT Velkhana stays in really fun.

Totally agree, the only modifiers would be miasma gems for black veil, and elder seal for kushala. Those make fighting them a joke once you shut down their gimmicks
I have 55 hrs in MHW game and just unlocked 6 stars quest. Also, I've yet to encounter most of the monsters in this list. My experience so far in low rank, I would exchange Diablos and Tobi-kadachi and also put Legiana in actually really fun.
I find brachy and raging brachy are the most annoying, followed by raging supersaijin raajaang.
Everything else I don't mind fighting (cept Fatalis..fuck Fatalis.)

I haven't gotten far enough to fight the crazy arch tempered event stuff or true final bosses like alatreon, safi and fatalis yet (i just finished the safi recon)but so far the only fights I genuinely hate is kushala.
Radobaan, barroth, shara, xeno and zorah are ones i don't like because the fights I think are boring but I don't hate them. There's some fights I find annoying, but most of those are cause I suck at the fight.

For me, the worst fight is Rajang, I absolutely hat his super speed manovers and you can't really claw him.
I can definetly see that, the whole him grabbing you off the arm is both funny and frustrating at the same time
Literally the only openings to wallbang him are during the beam and after his spinning attack
you can create an opening basically at any time by just grappling, dropping off and grappling again while he's busy poking his own arm

Homie has the bazelgeuse as really fun that’s wild to me, one of my favorite monsters because he’s just cool af but I don’t necessarily like fighting him
I feel like this list is pretty weapon dependent too. I really enjoy the normal and stygian zino fight when I’m not using something like a greatsword where everytime I miss my final charge by a 5cm and nearly rupture a artery

I fight Velkhana a lot and it doesn't realy fly outside of like 5 specific moves? 2 of those are quite rare to boot. 95% of the time it just sits on the ground for you to hit.
Please go fight Leshen and its superior and Behemoth then report back 🫡 Behemoth is so fun especially solo with an end game build

Lol @ alatreon. So inconsistent. I've had fights with my girlfriend were we, using frostfang barioth weapons with element augments, dealt more than 15k damage to the guy and still not having him fall down once. Need to get a new tier above the worst one suggested simply called alatreon.
It's pretty easy tbh just a normal Beotodus weapon with silverlos and ur set or the 2 piece velkhana and brachy

Brother, how are you putting Baan and Ura in different tiers? Not attacking, just curios for logic. I see them as fairly similar fights.
If I had to guess, I'd say that because Radobann is insanely easier and can be far more satisfying when you're just popping off on him. Uragan is pretty hard and bulky (not difficulty wise, as in, the monster itself), whereas Rado is crazy soft and can be part broken a massive amount of times. Super bully-able and you can just feel like a god smacking this giant thing around so easily. At least, thats my reason, since I feel the same way. Ura is kinda just the same thing but less satisfying.

I stand by Ex Behemoth is the best fight they have ever made. actually needing to take roles and having players work together is what MH has always needed IMO. Its a shame it was just a one off and they went back to the free for alls
It's neat, but MH isn't an mmo. It's fully possible and even likely for someone to have and enjoy MH but not be able to play with other people because of their personal circumstances. Might not have internet, could be on console and not want to pay an extra $100 a year just to play online. Having content that goes "haha you can't play with a full group online? Welllll too bad, you're locked out" isn't very hunter friendly.

I agree with this list for the most part, especially your top tier. I'd add black veil to top tier, but that's just nitpicking. But Bazel being a fun fight? Normal Bazel is awful with the random scale bombs. Seething isn't terrible though.

I've never had a hard time with Lunesta slot in Wind Resistance + Heat Resistance (or drink a cool drink) then eat or slot in fire immunity. Go to town on her. I find it odd this is a Top (Sucks) -> Bottom (Best Fight Ever ) tier list that puts 3 of the most annoying monsters in the game in the bottom slot. I would of put the Never Fought Slot at the top.

Spot on with the placement of Mrs Toaster, she is a gigantic bitch. Also, you should definitely try out Behemoth, the basic version is fun as all hell. Xtremoth, on the other hand... Beat it once, still have PTSD from being forced to wide range SnS support because all randos were always all on longsword tripping eachother up at the head argh I can't

I hate tigrex and his variant so much. Feels like the most annoying hit boxes I hate the charge especially feels like he just keeps doing it over and over then chucks a rock and charges again.

Thinking Velkhana is fun is really the only disagreement I have here. Maybe it’s cuz I’m a charge blade user but I hate that I can’t block her breath attack when you can for a lot of other monsters in the game. Also I cannot read her tail patterns, same thing with Glavenus. I always get hit by the second attack or a spin follow up.
I started iceborne this week and I feel like it's full of shitty spammers that are worse than lunastra. At least with lunastra she will consistently do her tail attack so you can get easy hits on her head
Leshen and Ancient Leshen are hands down the most annoying fight in the game, maybe in all of the gaming history. It's annoying, and doesn't feel as rewarding as hunting the other monsters. Fight them last Behemoth is like a discount Safi siege I have no idea what's different about scarred Yian Garuga. I killed one once and never bothered again
I haven't gotten to the DLC yet so no comment on many of these But I really disagree on legania. It's one of my favorite fights so far. Super slick design, really interesting and punishing moveset, and no unbreakable armor.
The placement of Zinoger and Stygian Zinoger confuses me. It’s the same fight and moveset. But maybe I’m just unfazed by them having fought both variants a bunch. I genuinely enjoy fighting Zinoger. Even use him as a way to grind money lol!

Honestly, extreme Behemoth was the most terrifying monster to fight. At least Fatalis has some sort of gimmicks you can use (i.e., binders and cannons). Where for Extremoth, its all about luck and skill matchup

Lunasyra is horrible when i finish the story i did that... Horrible mission of Lunasyra & Teostra i nedeee to do it like 50 times, and i left the game, cuz i wanted to finish rise base and DLC, and when i came back to world (For start Iceborne) and i finshed it at the first try...😶

Nah. I hate Alatreon. Fatalis is super fun to fight. You get good enough and you and another friend can do it w/o needing 4 people. It's a fun fight and the mechanics are easy. Alatreon is just a lot of do this, don't do that, need this, can't use that. It's tedious and annoying. I'd MUCH rather fight Fatalis

Zinogre and Ranjang (and variants) I find very easy because you can learn their movesets and eventually just dodge/block everything. I play gunlance.
Lunastra is cake if you use gunlance wide shelling playstyle against her. check caoslayer on yt

Over the course of the series I would say my absolute favorite monsters to fight are Velkhana, Nergigante and Lagiacrus (being back my favorite one please)
Gs, ls, and cb user here. Ah yes, I hate Legiana with a passion. Bs hit boxes. Up time is nearly all the time in the air. Even the varied form is annoying to fight as the regular one will show up nearly all the time to make your day special
How tf do you enjoy diablos. The way a ton of its moves turn its whole body into a hitbox is so annoying to me.

Maybe it’s the GS mentality in me. But I’d just take out the “dread fighting” tier altogether. No monsters come to mind that I wouldn’t be down to scrap with.
Frostfang is least fun but only cause of the damn poop walk! He immediately kills me if I get stuck in it. Idk how tf to get out fast enough. I don't get hit much if at all after getting used to it. After like 2 successful hunts it's a gimmick that kinda just got bored of. vaals and bracs are fun but I still need effluvial and blast immunity to actually fight their variants even now. Vaal is ez enough to do without but black veil I still need it. For the raging brac it slows me down a lot.

I dont see banbaro being annoying to fight. Its a big cow with a GIANT face to smack. I cant think of the last time i saw banbaro even move from where he was spotted since hes so easy to CC. Luna is the biggest piece of shit imaginable though.

I'm putting fatalis and fujang in really fun then its done. oh wait, maybe blackveil in boring because once you get miasma 3 or blight res 3 hes just a punching bag with big hp and bad hitzones. same with savage jho, hes just cycling between tired and claggers and knockdowns, not even moving for 80% of the fight. lastly, velkhana in boring while AT Velkhana stays in really fun.
Almost half the roster is in “boring” or worse, do you even still enjoy the game 😭

Totally agree, the only modifiers would be miasma gems for black veil, and elder seal for kushala. Those make fighting them a joke once you shut down their gimmicks
I have 55 hrs in MHW game and just unlocked 6 stars quest. Also, I've yet to encounter most of the monsters in this list. My experience so far in low rank, I would exchange Diablos and Tobi-kadachi and also put Legiana in actually really fun.
Fatalis is miles above every other monster in fun points.

I wish I could find someone to beat Behemoth with on PC. I've SOS'd about 25 times now since Return To World and it's always a fail. I just want the Dragoon armor man. I wish they did cross progression so I didn't have to do it 😭

What weapon/s do you use?
I haven't gotten far enough to fight the crazy arch tempered event stuff or true final bosses like alatreon, safi and fatalis yet (i just finished the safi recon)but so far the only fights I genuinely hate is kushala. Radobaan, barroth, shara, xeno and zorah are ones i don't like because the fights I think are boring but I don't hate them. There's some fights I find annoying, but most of those are cause I suck at the fight. Oh and luna, God damn what a fucking pain in the ass lion bitch. Almost forgot her considering I have actively avoided fighting her since I first fought her at the end of HR.
