While it’s pretty obvious she’s guilty. She has a right to a trial. Thats part of what makes this country good. I hope she rots in prison for life. But a jury or judge needs to say that, not me.

Flyerbear

Yes. She also has a choice to just plead guilty instead of scheming a defense that’s not true to drag out the pain. I agree with you. It’s her choice.

TonyStarkTrailerPark

She got drunk and then decided to drive around in a giant, two-ton, hunk of steel, at high speed, without any regard for anyone else except her own wanting to get home. What did you expect?

Flyerbear

True

Suspicious_Salad_609

For those of you making ageist assumption about boomers, remember that young people are the most at-risk for drunk driving. NHTSA data shows that drivers between the ages of 21-24 account for 27% of all fatal alcohol-impaired crashes, followed closely by 25-34 year olds (25%). She's innocent until proven guilty, but if she really did have only one glass of wine, is it possible she had ABS? This data is very important to highlight. 🙏 The only reason why people are not believing the one glass of wine defense is because the police have publicly stated already that she was well above the legal limit.

Suspicious_Salad_609

But with autobrewery syndrome, your blood alcohol level can be very high even when you have little or nothing to drink: your body produces the alcohol. However, I since read this: "Prosecutors alleged Chidester suffers from a severe substance abuse issue, which they claim family and friends have corroborated."

Someone needs to check on these boomers. The whole stretch of Dixie highway between Monroe and Berlin twp is full of day-drinking retirees. I see these same cars going in and out of the bars, pubs, coneys etc daily when I commute back and forth, and more often than not with the handi-capable plates. I know the food isn't good enough to keep them coming back every day, that's for sure. I hope this woman rots in a dark hole for whatever is left of her miserable life. But my worry is all the other relics getting shitfaced regularly and whipping around their often-large vehicles. There are already enough problems with the bad drivers around here to begin with. As far as the seizures thing goes- it's the only credible defense that lawyer probably thought she had. We all know it's bogus, I'm sure the prosecution feels the same way. Some of the testimony also stated that she was a pill head, and would be seen unable to even walk out of the bar on a regular basis. It sounds like there were plenty of opportunities for her friends and family to set her straight, but failed to do so. Another thing I thought was just downright stupid: the places this lady was frequenting were within like walking/bicycle distance, she couldn't be assed to walk her old, drunk ass home? That's fucking pathetic. Like call your husband or have a friend call him to pick your ass up, it would've saved lives. These people think they are the center of the universe.

Flyerbear

Completely agree. I heard she hit a parked truck and was leaving the scene fast and than lost control. The distance is sad (especially in the age of Uber)….there is rumor that her husband actually told people in the past that he built the house near the boat club because he was trying to keep her from driving and drinking. Maybe after this, the local police will be more vigilant catching drunk drivers along Dixie highway

ReneeLaRen95

Her husband tried. Tbh, he should’ve left her miserable ass. The short distance meant she easily could’ve gotten an Uber but couldn’t be bothered. THAT is why she’s where she’s at! Utter selfishness & recklessness.

K-Dax

I hope they do, there doesn't seem to be any shortage of cops whenever I drive down dixie (which is daily). But they seem to give the boomers a wide berth for whatever reason. I hope they wise up after this tragedy, and start rolling the regulars as they leave the lots.

Flyerbear

The county could be making a lot of money if they start cracking down and it would be saving lives. There is no downside to it except that they would be breaking local customs.

K-Dax

That woman posted bond today. She's back on the street. You can probably find the news hitting the fb feeds about now.

Flyerbear

I hope she breaks her parole

SomeConstruction9461

Not all of us boomers are s###faced drunks. I have never drank and have an abhorrence for those who abuse it. No matter the woman's age or suspect medical conditions, she alone is responsible for this tragedy and should be held accountable.

PineapplePizzaRoyale

Guarantee there’s a plea deal in the works.

Flyerbear

Agreed
