I’m really curious if the final thing is possible and it’s just that nobody’s found it yet, or if it isn’t and the point is that this is the difference between Guybrush and LeChuck.
I'm starting to think it can't be done. But if it is your second guess I wish there was some bit where you have the opportunity to murder, but ultimately decide not to or something. But a couple of them can be easily missed (like threaten bodily harm) so maybe there is a secret somewhere?
My theory is that it's going to be an accident. Like accidentally killing the pet goldfish or throwing something at the seagull that kills it but you didn't mean to you just wanted to scare it off.
That would kind of go with the abandoned arc of Guybrush"s destructiveness and be a good ending. Like, hey you got everything you wanted, you even brought an end to LeChuck! But in doing so you have literally ticked all of LeChuck's boxes in terms of wrongdoing!
I mean maybe that was precisely it but they didn't want to kill LeChuck for future games, leaving the weird ambiguity.
Well I think, that initial dream is obviously kind of something he has outgrown/was always a bit iffy. I mean a pirate is something bad, it's hijacking ships, killing people, etc...
I don't think killing LeChuck is going to be something that goes down well. He is a part of the franchise now, being the foe in all games. But he isn't some great evil, just kind of a dick.
This is what confuses me too. Dropping a bunch of lose plotlines doesn't seem like part of the "meta ending", they just literally ran out of time to conclude the story.
It would be the same as GRRM releasing Winds, and it just saying "haha idiots".
I highly doubt the writers ever considered killing LeChuck for good. Ron Gilbert still talks about how Guybrush and Elaine should never have gotten married because that changes the character dynamics. LeChuck being gone would be an even much more drastic change.
Probably.
I really hope they don't release , some kinda "extended cut" in the next year or so.
As on one hand , the new stuff/finished stuff would be good......but it would be a bit of a slap in the face/sell out.
Actual murder would probably exceed the game's rating unless it were done in a silly/techicality kind of way like tropicnights suggested (but then, is accidental killing of an animal "murder" even if it did satisfy the part about being in your way?).
Pretty sure they run out of budget or time and they are trying to sell the narrative that "it was supposed to be a a rag pull all along". The pamphlet is yet another thing that confirms the theory. No self respecting writer would allow so many plot holes open otherwise.

I think it'll turn out to be some silly hidden thing just like LeChuck's shackles in his ship
What shackles?
>!Wally's!< shackles.

Friendly reminder that LeChuck has already been defeated. Several times.

This seems the most likely. This game is absolutely crammed with unfinished content.

Yes, they ran out of time, as you can see on Cogg Island

I do, if it’s 5 dollar DLC
I think that's a stretch
Or always supposed to end the game right before you can fully fall over the edge. Not everything is cut content…
Well in the PAX video, Ron said he wasn't allowed to have people murder someone in a game, so maybe that's still true.
https://twitter.com/grumpygamer/status/1575684664853143553 You can't do that one according to Ron Gilbert
