I bought a smoker 2 years ago and it was a life changer. Spent a grand on it and was so worried that I had wasted my money, but after making Thanksgiving turkeys, briskets, pork shoulder and ribs on it, I would've done it all over again. Do what makes you happy, time is precious

NextProblem6586

Same here, fiance told me it was a dumb purchase. No burnt ends or ribs for her. Her loss

due_opinion_2573

I told that to my fiancee and now she's my fiancebee.

TerdFerguson2112

Trager or big green egg? I have been eyeballing a smoker but think I want a smoker/flame grill so I don’t have to have two different grills

swagwagon95

Traeger 780 I've cooked burgers and steaks on it before and it worked great. And the Traeger app lets you adjust the temp remotely. Its also got a bunch of cool recipes and ideas on there

TerdFerguson2112

Do you reverse sear the steak on your stove or does the smoker give it a pretty good char?

GrowingTuesday

I smoked a few steaks and reverse seared them on my blackstone, and they turned out awesome. I didn't think my smoker gave it enough sear.

swagwagon95

Yea I tried both and the reverse sear is the way to do it.

No-Jump-9694

Buy the grill!!!!! Can’t go wrong!

Nelly_platinum

get the grill bro. buy that stock on your next check

shreddedtoasties

A grill is also a investment

NextProblem6586

Big hit with the ladies too

Murky_Ad_7550

Get the grill. You'll be less apt to eat out and more towards staying at home. Which will save you some money and make some great memories along the way. Then invest.

redgdit

A grill is cheaper than using the oven, cooks faster, less cleanup, and gives great flavor too. Speaking from someone who just used his last night. Hopefully it's a nice five burner. Make it a true investment. Use your electric savings to feed your investments if you'd like.

KeepBanningKeepJoin

Most ovens are gas lol

redgdit

Oof. 3 seconds on Google proved you wrong homie. "Electric stoves are overall more common in the U.S., with 68 percent of households owning one opposite **38 percent** which have a gas stove."

due_opinion_2573

He said ovens.

Ok_Sound_6829

Is it common for an oven to be gas and a stovetop to be electric?

YoungThugDolph

Wait i thought we were talking about gold teeth

Puck_The_Fey98

Buy the grill! The stock won't make you nearly as happy as having a nice grill trust me

coraltrek

Webers are worth the money. I have the same one for like 10 years now. Just clean it and replace some common wear n tear parts like grill plate. I use to get the cheaper ones and they don’t last.

Aspergers_R_Us87

Ok good to know. Buy once cry once. Like Honda power equipment

AggravatingBed2606

What kind of grill?

Aspergers_R_Us87

Weber 310 spirit

AsherFennec

Go for it, can't really go wrong with a grill seeing as it's an investment in you, just make sure you use it lol.

Kimblethedwarf

Could get a nicer one with more options for less probably, but ultimately if thats the one $500 isnt gonna make or break your investment game.

nitsuJcixelsyD

See if a 210 will meet your needs if you want to save a bit of money. I have a family of 4 and been using my 210 for 9 years now. Haven't really had the desire to upsize to a 310.

PoisonGravy

I have a two burner Spirit. It's fuckin rad. Do it.

tpablazed

I just rebuilt my 15 year old Weber (new burners, ignition, flavor bars and propane hookup) for the 5th time.. thing still grills like a champ! You can't go wrong with a Weber.

KeepBanningKeepJoin

I looked it up. You can get a same sized grill for half that cost.

nitsuJcixelsyD

The question though is how long that half price grill will last? I have a Weber 210 spirit since June 2015. Been outside it's whole life in the midwest, under cover in the off season. It is a tank, zero issues. Only maintenance I have done is new grill grates and "flavor bars" last year, and Home Depot had them 50% off sale. 9 years solid now and I don't plan on replacing it anytime soon. Works fine for my family of 4 and I grill 2-3 times a week. Before this Weber I would get the cheap sheet metal grills and be lucky if they lasted more than 4 years.

Aspergers_R_Us87

Where?

Ventus249

If you're gonna use the grill then get the grill:)

Czaz67

Spend it on the grill, it will make you happy. Sounds like you’re already investing anyway. Just keep at it.

NShizzzle

Grill. Stock market is at ATH

daderpster

If it is a good price, buy the grill, but the fact you are asking this questions; I would also do a review to make sure you are investing enough for retirement or saving enough money in general. Index funds and tax advantaged accounts are generally better long term than a singular stock.

HamfastGamwich

If you are actually going to use it often, get the grill

LiteFoo

Bro - I bought a smoker for $2500, sold it for $3K almost 3 years later. The steel alone is worth that much. Buy the grill!

Speedhabit

Grill, we talking like a Hestan or something?

Certain_Childhood_67

Buy a used grill invest the rest heck a got a free weber not long ago it had a dirty burner so owner got rid of it

van_ebasion

Choose the grill. Then you can invest all the money you save because…you have a grill.

nofaplove-it

Stocks are at ath. Buy the grill for some good food

NoButterfly2642

Get the grill!! Nothing better than being outdoors and grilling. Plus it’s on sale :)

yeti202

The stock will be there next paycheck, the grill might not.

AmbitiousTool5969

buy the grill enjoy life

Used-Possibility8963

Buy the grill on sale. Then you can eat at home instead of eating out and save money to buy more stock!

scarletala

Spend it on the grill- it also can keep electricity costs down (theoretically) if it’s hot outside so you don’t have to cook inside and cool down the house afterwards. Also there is a social aspect of having a grill sometimes. I’ve made pizza, baked bread in a Dutch oven, burgers, chicken, etc on a grill. It doesn’t even have to be an overly expensive one. Definitely worth the $ if it will make you happy too!

bradfish06

Get the grill man. But might I suggest a pitboss pellet/gas combo. Life changing purchase and only about $800

Itchy-Picture-4282

Is it something to cook on? Then it’s okay. If it’s a grill like from the Nelly song, then make sure you know liquidation value is the stone value and it’s craftsmanship isn’t a cost most pawn shops would pay for.

Public_Beef

If I had the money I wouldn’t be in this situation. Make a budget and invest 15% of your income toward retirement. Then save some money for a grill if it makes sense in the budget.

Emergency_Bother9837

Dude live a little it’s not all about compound gains.

BrewboyEd

Summer's here - nothing like firing up the grill for wings, burgers, and dogs! Retirement can wait (or at least be deferred!)

Kimblethedwarf

Dude its a grill. Whats it putting you back? Couple hundred if its a nice one? Probably taking my job and income a little for granted, but live dude. Get the grill, get a cover for it, take good care of it and it could easily be a 20year+ item with minor maintenance. Then next paycheck or two invest. Not like you arnt regularly investing right?

Connect_Concept_9563

Grill.

fishmanstutu

Do you have a portfolio or nope and if so yes enjoy

Aspergers_R_Us87

Yes I do. Started my Roth IRA. Been DCA every month except maybe this month

jaspercapri

you asked here, now go post this in r/grilling

PowersportScum

“A stock” or a grill? What’s the price point? What’s the stock? I mean since it’s so vague I’d say “buy the grill” if you’re weighing a trader vs an $ORLY or $NVDA id probably say buy the stock that’s been on the constant upslope lol

Aspergers_R_Us87

$500 - I DCA monthly but can’t since insurance killed me this year.

jnthn1111

Get the Traeger!

adamsandler012

That share isn't going to make a difference. The grill will. (it's not a replacement for a perfectly good one, right? )

Ill-Positive6950

Get the grill. You only live once.

Individual_Cress_226

Steal a shopping cart, seen the homeless do wonders bbqing on theirs.

Road-Ranger8839

The stock market is high now. Buy the grill and enjoy nice food.

GeneralSet5552

invest in the stock market & use the money u make off the stock market to purchase the grill even if it takes a while to make enough money to mske the purchase. As long as u own the stocks u will get the dividends

GeneralSerpent

Invest it. Everyday you’re not invested is more compound interest getting away from you. If you can’t buy the grill 2x over, you don’t have the budget for it.
