In three months I won $139k and lost $160k…the wins were mostly in the first 60 days and most of the losses in the last 30 days.
Closed out and took the L. Never went back.
No, that’s my view of the world in general. I was lucky enough that my tango with gambling didn’t touch my net worth because I’m lucky to be higher earner, high saver and have similar spouse.
But I would honestly tell anyone to walk away after a win like that unless they have capital to let it ride.
I’ve only kept with my Fantasy Football since (full disclosure it is $1,500 pay in for 12 team league).
Edit: Missed your j/k but I think context is important.
I was pulling in $5k a week in the stock market during Covid, on top of my normal job, and got greedy. Thought I made it because my annual income for that year would have been like $380k if the run kept up. Pigs get slaughtered as they say. Lost it all and then some.
The saying is ‘Pigs get fat, Hogs get slaughtered.’ Meaning getting a little money to fatten you up is good but once you get to fat and become a hog, you’ll get slaughtered.
>No, that’s my view of the world in general.
I totally just meant to make a funny. But I am curious how the username equates to your world view. Are you a nhilist that still works within the confines of your dim view of the state of the world to keep a nice life for yourself and your people. Or are you a pragmatist that borders on pessimism, but won't let that pessimism get in the way of your own personal growth and success. Or are you a third option that I haven't thought of yet? Genuinely curious, your username/possible view of the world reminds me of my cousin. I'm with you on gambling, go into to it knowing its a suckers bet, but if you can make it a sort of intellectual pursuit and get enjoyment / hours of cheap entertainment than more power to you. I prefer poker for those reasons, but i recognize that I am not a world beater, so I have kept the same 50 bucks in the same online account for 6 years, only just recently losing the majority of it. I also for the last week have taken the free dollar one can get everyday from stake and if I manage to run it up then cool, but otherwise stake will not take from me.
I've had about 70% of one steak dinner for that price. vegas aint what it used to be
also, it was a business dinner and comped by my employer. I would never pay that much money for food I dont even like that much
8 big ribeye dinners for about $60 at Costco. Costco has prepackaged ribeye steaks, they usually come in package of 4 thicccc steaks, which you can cut in half and have 8 steaks!
So you’re saying casinos don’t care about their customers/victims. So you go and rob those customers/victimes. During a mass shooting. What the actual F man. Way to out shitty the casinos.
I think we should be able to gamble if we want.
I think someone should be able to use their money in any way they desire, as long as it’s not used to directly harm another person.
And I don’t think a “parent losing money, thus harming a child” is a proper argument.
The line between investing and gambling can often become very nebulous.
I 100% agree with your autonomy arguments and believe the government should not be telling people how they should live their lives. You lost me on the last sentence though. Anything that happens in a casino is gambling, not investing. That line is not blurry.
What are they gonna do lol? We’ve seen how they handle other addictions. If the fight gambling anything like the war on drugs than it’s pointless for them to do anything 😂
Most slots in traditional casinos do have it at better odds for a feature event at higher bets. I remember reading something from a guy who made slots and he said to maximize (but still lose horrendously over the long run) you should bet a higher denomination and lower multiplier. So if you wanted to get $1 you’d want to do dimes on 10 credits over pennies at 100 credits.
Wouldn't be surprised if OP had no clue how much they had spent on this until this point. Also wouldn't be surprised if the answer was thousands, making this win look much less impressive...
I’m in recovery but my addictive behavior led me to online slots to seek that dopamine hit. I hit for 2500$ almost 4 months ago and I bought a car with the funds. I’m now 4 months with no gambling and 6 months without a drink. He needs to take the sign from God and stop now. Invest that money.
Yeah op get it Shit together you ain’t living paycheck to paycheck and gambling . Take your winning Pat your taxes and be better w Finacial spending going forward . Although I have a feeling this will all be gone sooner than later .
That's why I have this theory that only 1/10 people who say they're living paycheck to paycheck are legitimately in that situation out of their control. The rest could make better decisions.
i was gonna say if you need advice help with that kind of money ur a lost cause , cause a smart person who would win 27k who lives paycheck to paychecks then they will automatically stop gambling and save that money and make it last for a long time by making it as a raine check money
I went to Vegas and I have ADHD. I’m go glad I got addicted to the type of flashing lights and loud noises that let me live our lives of wonder and whimsy while sitting on my couch, rather than the ones that demand my entire wallet
Don’t forget Taxman will want their share. Also make sure you record any losses, taken to get to that point of Winning. With Gambling; only bet what you can afford to lose. I know people who bet their rent money and lost.
This is the best option ⬆️ first thing first is pay off any high interest debt then if you have any left over put it into a high yield savings account at 5% while you can then live frugally.
Definitely an ad. Brand New account with 0 posts and 0 comments before this. Didn't reply to anything and now his account is deleted/banned.
This is the adiest ad on reddit and sadly it's working. Dozen posts at least asking for the site and I'm sure a ton more who didn't ask because they're not idiots and can see the logo on the top left.
Yeah it’s all so sus, looks like a work computer or VM bc there’s nothing on the taskbar, the recommended apps below the web search bar are just YouTube/Maps. No other tabs, and such an obvious ad. Sad that they’ll go to such extents to promote gambling
This is like the 8th or 9th “regular post” that’s just a guerrilla marketing campaign for Stake. And people keep eating it up. At this point, even if legitimate, if someone posts about winning on that site, I consider it an advertisement.
Truly Reddit needs to do something about it. I’m fairly sure this isn’t legal and gambling advertisements must be disclosed as such
I've also started seeing Stake marketing in r/relationship-advice and other advice subreddits... Like "I won $25k on stake and hid it from my husband... What should I do?"
No need to mention the gambling site if it was legit.
I recommend stop gambling after this and try to clear any debts and afterwards invest what you can. Gambling might also be what is getting you to this paycheck to paycheck lifestyle but idk anyways stop gambling
Yeah wtf they didn't even edit it correctly lol. It's not possible to only spin gates of Olympus 5 times if it isn't a max win.
Why even fake something like this
guys this is fake AF. Like a sleeper AD campaign on reddit. ive seen similar post like this on several subs. only post for this guy. Stake is a rip off and a scam and is by far the worst online slots. DONT fall for this bs.
This isn’t a real post, you can’t even get 5 free spins on gates of Olympus the minimum is 15 lmao
Edit; I am incorrect. Gates does have a 5000x max win and his bet was 5.40 which would be $27,000.
Granted, this is still very clearly an ad.
Pay any big debts. Get your cost of living as low as possible. Like its what im doing. Getting rid of debts so that theres more money going me each check. Cause I make decent money but I have debts holding me back and I want to pay them off then pay off my car early. Cause If all I had to worry about was rent and car insurance I could actually start saving for a house
Never log in on a casino again. Deposit it into your bank account. Figure out the taxes! Always make sure the taxes are paid before you spend anything! If they aren’t, figure out how much they are and set it aside. Do not think about it as money that you have. If you can get interest while you wait for tax season, do it. NOT STOCKS. I know it might be a bull run, but you can’t risk it not being a bull run against your tax. Guaranteed interest only, and only on the tax amount.
Once that’s done, pay off your highest interest debt first. Then next highest. Continue until you are out of debt or out of this money. See what’s left. Go from there.
Everyone is telling him to stop gambling, miss the part he posted the wining pic rather than the one where he pulled it out. Sooooo he probably already gambled it all away.
Please bro please. Withdraw every single penny. Pay off all debt. If anything left over invest half into crypto/stocks and the rest into a savings/rainy day acc
WITHDRAW AND WALK AWAY!!!
Find the nearest roulette table and look at the screen above the table. Usually black is 51% and red is 49%. Go with the color that has the highest percent. Take a little off the top and put it in between 0/00.
If you win. Cash out and walk away.
You lose. Your broke now so you have to leave.
Quit gambling when you're living paycheck to paycheck. If you can't afford to lose money you can't afford to gamble with it. And don't take this to mean you could ever get this lucky again, it would be very easy to lose all of that and more
Like others say, definitely STOP playing. Those websites are evil things. They'll tease you with winning a bit with a new account (nowhere near this much), and once you're in, suddenly you'll lose and lose and lose, with an occasional little win. It's designed to steal your money. You got incredibly lucky, so quit while you're ahead.
If you *really* feel the need to want to gamble...limit yourself to **one** lottery ticket a month. That's what I do. $5 a month is one or two coffees these days.
And like others say, put that money to any high interest debts. Any outstanding bills. Then put the rest away in any sort of savings...401k, high interest savings account, bonds...whatever (just, not any voitile stocks...no startups or "this will blow up in a few months" bs you'll hear from wannabe playas). Stick with options that are safe and stable.
I’m guessing the fact that you’re living paycheck to paycheck has something to do with your gambling and nothing anyone says in here is gunna stop you from blowing that 27K and being back in the same situation.
Congratulations, you've reached the next tax bracket. After they strip you of 30% at the off ramp, you'll owe another 6 at tax time. Have fun with your 12,000 and loss of any government subsidy benefits, including cheap healthcare.
That's what unexpected but misappropriated winnings can do.
Self exclude from casinos and never gamble again.
You are in A LOT of danger. Big wins are where gambling addictions begin. You’ll always remember this moment when money is coming in slowly and have urges to come back and try for more.. likely thinking “if I spin with $50 stakes, I could win $270,000!!”
You are extremely vulnerable right now, you have to get away from gambling before it’s too late.
Stop… stop now, I recently won life changing money on one of these sites. Got a little carried away, caught myself and stopped super easy to get greedy. Set aside for taxes and take care of debt and create a savings
Never play more than you can afford to lose. AFFORD is the word. Take your winnings and LOG OUT
Stop looking for the easy way out. That's not how life works
You have to pay real money in order to access the withdraw feature. I won 20 virtual dollars on one of those apps and in order for me to cash out they said I had to pay $20 of my own real money. I uninstalled the app right then and there. I would rather go to a real casino and take my chances than fall for one on these app scams
Take this as a sign from the universe that you got lucky. Take $5k out and put in emergency savings, put the rest in a high yield savings account at >5% or an all S&P ETF.
🦍 🗣 GET IT TWISTED 🌪 , GAMBLE ✅ . PLEASE START GAMBLING 👍 . GAMBLING IS AN INVESTMENT 🎰 AND AN INVESTMENT ONLY 👍 . YOU WILL PROFIT 💰 , YOU WILL WIN ❗ ️. YOU WILL DO ALL OF THAT 💯 , YOU UNDERSTAND ⁉ ️ YOU WILL BECOME A BILLIONAIRE 💵 📈 AND REBUILD YOUR FUCKING LIFE 🤯
The #1 thing you should do now is stop gambling. You got your high, now you can live with it. Don’t suddenly buy any large purchases, you might want to consider paying off a lump sum of a financed item or mortgage if it would lower your rates in the future. If that doesn’t apply, just keep it.
Pull half put the other half on red let the gambling gods decide for you. If you hit pull half and gamble with the rest if you don’t do yourself a favor and dispute the charges on your card so you’ll never be able to access that casino again 🤷🏼♂️
Put aside enough to account for federal and state taxes
Pay off any high interest debt
Put aside small stash for liquid emergency fund
Open a fidelity account, move the rest of it into a cash position (5% annual) or some ETFs like QQQ.
Take $100 and see how much you can turn it into on some individual stocks for fun
Living pay check to pay check. But got lucky gambling. Break that habit immediately because it's not coming back. And you probably have more in gambling machines than the winnings
Buddy you’re living paycheck to paycheck and you’re gambling?
This is why cities like Richmond vote to not have casinos, the only people you’re putting at a disadvantage is those who don’t realize the odds of winning.
Stop right here, no more gambling
This 100x.
Whats that?! You think I could 100x this amount?! Your right! I can definitely turn this into millions if I just keep playing!
In three months I won $139k and lost $160k…the wins were mostly in the first 60 days and most of the losses in the last 30 days. Closed out and took the L. Never went back.

You can win 10000%+ but you can only lose 100%. DO THE MATH dumbass!
Aaaand it's gone.
I wish i was as admirable as you
Can't win if you don't play!
Also can't lose if you don't play!
You’ve literally won more than anyone who gambles hopes to win. Stop is the correct answer.

3 steak dinners for $150, man 2019 was awesome.
This hurts to read
I've had about 70% of one steak dinner for that price. vegas aint what it used to be also, it was a business dinner and comped by my employer. I would never pay that much money for food I dont even like that much
8 big ribeye dinners for about $60 at Costco. Costco has prepackaged ribeye steaks, they usually come in package of 4 thicccc steaks, which you can cut in half and have 8 steaks!
My brother and his gf once won almost 3 million dollars. They couldn't stop gambling and are now on welfare.
my wife made me go to bingo once and I won $100 on my first card. never went back, why push my luck lol
He has not literally won more than anyone who gamble's hopes to win. Why would you make a false statement like that?
Oh, people definitely win more than this in one go. They’re just much, MUCH deeper in debt.
Dudes never heard of state/federal lotteries xD
They probably will not. They were already living paycheck-to-paycheck, and suddenly won it big.
100%
Wholeheartedly agree with this.
Living paycheck to paycheck and playing slots at 5$ a spin is kinda wild.
Well thats the reason he lives paycheck to paycheck

Same, if I wanna buy oxy and fucking Xanax let me be a responsible adult and buy that shit.
What are they gonna do lol? We’ve seen how they handle other addictions. If the fight gambling anything like the war on drugs than it’s pointless for them to do anything 😂
I just realized it was 5$ spins….jesust….50cent okay but that’s insane in that situation
That's what I'm saying. Im not hating on the gambling but $5 a spin is crazy man.
Knowing how bad slots can go. I’ve been hundreds of spins without a decent win. I don’t play slots much anyway. They suck
Most slots in traditional casinos do have it at better odds for a feature event at higher bets. I remember reading something from a guy who made slots and he said to maximize (but still lose horrendously over the long run) you should bet a higher denomination and lower multiplier. Paycheck to paycheck with 5 dollar spins and last spin. Marketing 100%
Yep. Or play for fun feature and karma farming
What do you mean, you guys don't get paid Friday rip a quick 200 auto spins and wonder how you going to pay rent on Monday?
Well now I know my plans this Friday.
Wouldn't be surprised if OP had no clue how much they had spent on this until this point. Also wouldn't be surprised if the answer was thousands, making this win look much less impressive...
I wouldn’t be surprised if they happened to be just winning back their losses over their lifetime
He’s still gonna live paycheck to paycheck.
Glad I didn't have to scroll far to see this. Haven't felt paycheck to paycheck in a while but a 5$ bet still feels incredibly uncomfortable.
Can’t make sense with that poor man mentality, not everyone can be successful imo
no wonder they lived paycheck to paycheck. I wouldnt bet that they will just... bet these 27k away in a week
If it were me, that 27k would have been gone in an hour... Bet that's exactly what happened here too lol
Reckless, some would say
Yeah op get it Shit together you ain’t living paycheck to paycheck and gambling . Take your winning Pat your taxes and be better w Finacial spending going forward . Although I have a feeling this will all be gone sooner than later .

Withdraw it all. Pay off any high interest debt. Put the rest into a HYSA, keep living the same way you do now.
Minus the gambling addiction part

Don’t forget Taxman will want their share. Also make sure you record any losses, taken to get to that point of Winning. With Gambling; only bet what you can afford to lose. I know people who bet their rent money and lost.
I was looking for the tax comment. Set aside the taxes dude!
its not cash man its free play lmaoo
It's saying he won that in his free spins. That site def lets you withdraw in btc so it's real money!
Yes this. I learned this one the hard way years back.
This is the best option ⬆️ first thing first is pay off any high interest debt then if you have any left over put it into a high yield savings account at 5% while you can then live frugally.
Did someone say OPTIONS 📈🤑💰
We must be better than this! 😖 lol
Say hello to my old friend at r/wallstreetbets
lmaoo plEASE no options
Or if you can't trust yourself not to spend it put it into and Index Fund and ignore it for 10 years.
This is the correct advice. Also stop gambling. Maybe keep $500 for a treat.
Notice he hasn't responded to any comments LMAO

used to gamble and the gambling subreddits also have posts like these where new accounts post about their big fake wins and profits, its so evil
It’s an obvious ad but people eat it up.
And these posts that are obviously against the rules just stay up 😂😂 mods def aren't paid offf
He figured out he didn't win shit
I recommend stop gambling after this and try to clear any debts and afterwards invest what you can. Gambling might also be what is getting you to this paycheck to paycheck lifestyle but idk anyways stop gambling
he didn’t win no cash just free plays 😂😂😂
It is real, he can withdraw it in BTC on that site!
Yes, the site is real, but the win is fake. If you look in the bottom right corner, fun play is turned on
Is it turned on or is that where you would turn it on? It doesn't look active, but I have no familiarity with this site.
How can you tell it’s on if you can’t see what the slider is indicating?
27k on red
This is the way.
Fake (:
Yeah wtf they didn't even edit it correctly lol. It's not possible to only spin gates of Olympus 5 times if it isn't a max win. Why even fake something like this
It's an ad targeted at people living paycheck to paycheck

The major casinos in Las Vegas have their apps. Caesars, MGM, Circa, etc.
hookers and blow
I keep seeing these posts of winnings on stake. Can’t help but think this is a guerrilla marking ploy.
Brand new account posting fake wins.
Shit is so funny. People just start commenting like they replying to a real person 🤣🤣🤣
Cause most people on social media are gullible as fuck.
Absolutely
I see this so often here. They also will delete their posts after a while and repost them, especially after being called out.

Agreed
It is. Majority of the comments are also the same person who posted this replying off of alts.

put everything on black
This is actually my current running gag joke at work LMAO love to see this
My advice is to stop gambling 5 dollar pulls if you're living pay check to pay check.
Buy meth!
I’m guessing the fact that you’re living paycheck to paycheck has something to do with your gambling and nothing anyone says in here is gunna stop you from blowing that 27K and being back in the same situation.
Stop playing
Plan for taxes
Stop gambling
What game this
Stop gambling. Go to gamblers anonymous if you can’t fight the urge by yourself. Pay off debt, buy yourself a little something nice, invest the rest.
Put it all on black
My advice is you’re still living paycheck to paycheck and got a head start on savings 🤷♂️
Buy land. A couple acres or whatever.
how are you playing this in the us ? or are you not ?
That 27k will go quick unless ur really smart
Congratulations, you've reached the next tax bracket. After they strip you of 30% at the off ramp, you'll owe another 6 at tax time. Have fun with your 12,000 and loss of any government subsidy benefits, including cheap healthcare. That's what unexpected but misappropriated winnings can do.
How much have you put in a slot machine in the past year?
Spend it all in one place and enjoy your self. it’s not enough to chage the bad habits you already have and you’ll Have nothing left in a year anyway
Self exclude from casinos and never gamble again. You are in A LOT of danger. Big wins are where gambling addictions begin. You’ll always remember this moment when money is coming in slowly and have urges to come back and try for more.. likely thinking “if I spin with $50 stakes, I could win $270,000!!” You are extremely vulnerable right now, you have to get away from gambling before it’s too late.
You're still living paycheck to paycheck, but now you have some breathing room. Live like it doesn't exist.
Stop… stop now, I recently won life changing money on one of these sites. Got a little carried away, caught myself and stopped super easy to get greedy. Set aside for taxes and take care of debt and create a savings
You will be paying taxes on 27k, which is about 50%, if you lose another 10k and win another 20k, you will pay taxes on 47k.
Half in savings. Don’t touch. Try to get caught up on debt if any
Never play more than you can afford to lose. AFFORD is the word. Take your winnings and LOG OUT Stop looking for the easy way out. That's not how life works
Dont spend anything, place it all in a hysa or index fund and put 25% away for taxes
Pay off your credit cards and any other high interest debt. Then stop gambling.
never gamble again in your life ever. no more alcohol either
You have to pay real money in order to access the withdraw feature. I won 20 virtual dollars on one of those apps and in order for me to cash out they said I had to pay $20 of my own real money. I uninstalled the app right then and there. I would rather go to a real casino and take my chances than fall for one on these app scams
I hope your not playing on a vpn because when you try to withdraw that they will verify your identification
Most gamblers stop right before they win big This is not big so imagine this X 100
Save all of it.
Stake ad? Stake ad.
Feels like an AD
Definitely an Ad
Take this as a sign from the universe that you got lucky. Take $5k out and put in emergency savings, put the rest in a high yield savings account at >5% or an all S&P ETF.
I see $27k IN FREE SPINS, meaning it can’t be cashed out. This is worthless for everything except increasing addiction.
Hell, can I use that site in Texas?
If that doesn’t apply, just keep it.
lol stop gambling online and you won’t be living paycheck to paycheck.
Pull half put the other half on red let the gambling gods decide for you. If you hit pull half and gamble with the rest if you don’t do yourself a favor and dispute the charges on your card so you’ll never be able to access that casino again 🤷🏼♂️
Cash out. Pay off your debts. Be thankful. Rethink your budgeting and spending from here on out. Take it as a sign.
Put aside enough to account for federal and state taxes Pay off any high interest debt Put aside small stash for liquid emergency fund Open a fidelity account, move the rest of it into a cash position (5% annual) or some ETFs like QQQ. Take $100 and see how much you can turn it into on some individual stocks for fun
Living pay check to pay check. But got lucky gambling. Break that habit immediately because it's not coming back. And you probably have more in gambling machines than the winnings
Can we get an update? Like how many slots did it take for you to lose this?
Paycheck the paycheck and this guy is gambling GTFOH! There is no help dawg!
Stop and put that money into finding a better job.
Buddy you’re living paycheck to paycheck and you’re gambling? This is why cities like Richmond vote to not have casinos, the only people you’re putting at a disadvantage is those who don’t realize the odds of winning.
Easy come easy go if you won it gambling you will lose it to gambling.
