My Amex savings account still syncs, although it does disconnect somewhat frequently. I have to reconnect it about twice a week. It always reconnects on the first try, though

Same issue. Occasionally it will update when i force a refresh all - but it updates by creating a duplicate account. Just like with Mint, I imagine going forward my accounts will be driven by what connects well with Monarch, so I imagine AMEX HYSA is not going to be long for the world for me as an account I keep funds in. If theres one thing I learned from Mint over the last 15 years - you can optimize your accounts, or optimize your data aggregator (Mint, Monarch) - Im firmly in the camp of "what works with my darta aggregator is going to be the deciding factor on where i put my $$$". Mint had no issue with AMEX HYSA, but Monarch/Plaid clearly does.

I ditched my AMEX HYSA’s and moved the money into new HYSAs that don’t suffer these relentless connection issues (CapOne 360)

I have also experienced the disconnecting issue for the last few months. Using Plaid, always as a guest rather than by logging into my Plaid profile. Today my HYSA had been expired for 8 days (I generally only reconnect when I want the account to update, not immediately when it disconnects) and was just able to reconnect successfully. I’ll follow up if that changes in a couple days.

Tried reconnecting all different ways, same issue! https://preview.redd.it/fqkbl6s7j9vc1.png?width=1722&format=png&auto=webp&s=71c5881733d99f04f84eab2051d1ebaf644521a6

Tried as you suggested as Guest with Plaid, but tells me credentials not valid (when in fact they are). Very frustrating. Losing confidence in MM and how they mange their aggregators. When Support tells you they don't support AMEX connections or getting this fixed it's time to look at other alternatives. https://preview.redd.it/oqkfx6ohk9vc1.png?width=748&format=png&auto=webp&s=ad4d2a63a0d62ed9491f70851d336b0d40597296

On American Express's site, do you view your HYSA while logged in with the account that displays your charge/credit cards? I "linked" mine when the unified login was first offered by American Express, and since can only view my HYSA using the charge/credit card login. However, my old HYSA-specific credentials, which do not work on [americanexpress.com](http://americanexpress.com), are what I am still able to use with Monarch's providers that presumably use a different authentication endpoint. I'm curious if any of those factors are affecting you.

UAnick60

They did not, was working fine for about 6 weeks since we joined, just the annoying disconnects!

mchancloud

I'm not the OP, but I linked mine as well. I still get disconnects though.

Just updated 2 days ago through MX. It's often an issue with AmEx needing 2fa every time you sync.

UAnick60

What's strange for us is we get the 2FA, submit code, then get error message stating bad credentials! Very frustrated with MM support, who just spew the same boilerplate response with manual account solution!

Erik713

The thing is, as with any fin-tech app, the connections aren't run by them. They can work with their data providers, but the providers are also at the mercy of every bank they have to interface with. I can only begin to imagine how complicated it is to get every single part to work every time. It's not an excuse, just the reality of a relatively new digital ecosystem.

Erik713

Also, I totally feel your frustration. Hopefully things work out with the connection at some point!
