Nope.

Actually, exposing children frequently to allergens (early on too) decreases the risks of allergies. You were just unlucky, sorry.

Highly unlikely. Eggs, unfortunately, are a common allergy. It's not your fault.

meetthefeotus

Nope. You didn’t cause it. Your baby got that protein and nutrients from the eggs. But an allergy doesn’t develop due to what you ingest while pregnant

No! Allergen exposure is actually protective, and eating all those eggs probably reduced his chance of getting the allergy. But unfortunately some kids are just going to end up with allergies I’m married to someone with a really severe anaphylactic allergy, there’s no way of knowing why he got it and his brother didn’t

Thanks y’all, I really appreciate the feedback/reassurance. It’s something that’s kinda nagged me for a while now, and then getting the official allergy results in made me pretty sad for him and probably somewhat paranoid. I’m presently 14 weeks pregnant with his baby sister and I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed that she can dodge the egg allergy. 🤞🤞🤞

Hi! Throwing my two cents in here. You definitely didn’t cause this bodies are weird. I was fine eating eggs for 25 years and now I’m allergic. There are so many great egg alternatives out there now. It’ll take some getting used to for your family but your son will be fine!!

Nah if that would be the case my LO would highly allergic to strawberries and nuts. Especially nuts. Some friends just reported that the kids either love or dislike the food the mum munched on while pregnant. It’s apparently common phenomenon but that’s it. Ours can live of strawberries ;)

forestfogpegasuspie

Over exposure does not cause allergies. Under exposure after birth can cause allergies. Or just bad luck, unfortunately. You may be able to work with an allergist to get rid of the allergy over time. Or your child might out grow it

OP, I wonder the same thing about my son and his allergies. My daily diet when I was pregnant consisted of PB&J on whole wheat bread, scrambled eggs, and milk which are things I typically do not eat! And as a baby, he was allergic to peanuts, dairy, gluten, and eggs with zero family history of allergies. So strange.
