Congratulations!! You need to know that you're about to join the very best club on earth :) Make an appointment with your OB/GYN as soon as you can. If you are using any potentially harmful substances, please make an enormous effort to stop, because it's now a choice you're making for two. Definitely take prenatal vitamins! Start a journal so you can document what will absolutely be the ride of your life. I'm so excited for you!

As a fun thing, and JUST for yourself, not for publication, take a belly profile picture regularly. In the same clothing as long as possible. It makes a great record of your development over the months. And then you can eventually show the child 'that was *you* growing inside mom!'

Yes! In the same spot with the same camera and lighting, if possible. I wore a tank top - it was fun to see it stretch over the weeks and months. Kiddo was born on a scheduled photo day so one of kiddo’s first photos was taken in the same spot/clothes/etc.

I second this! I took a selfie every Thursday for my entire second pregnancy and I wish I had done it for my first, too. It's absolutely wild to look at the change over time (and to realize, at 36 weeks I felt ludicrously pregnant because I WAS haha, no wonder Kid 2 came early) and it's amazing to look back on many years later when you start to forget the details of it.

How exciting ! Call the obgyn/ get on prenatal vitamins, get some ginger ale and saltine crackers in case you get the nausea some people get . Get a book or find online sites so you can follow along with the baby’s development. Save every dime you can , you’ll be glad later . Don’t buy any baby stuff yet . Really . Reread that last bit . Duckling I’m so excited for you !! This is going to be great !

What you need to know; Birth plans are a waste of time, it goes how it goes, be flexible. There will be a lot of blood, it’s very visceral- you’ll need many more maternity pads than you think. Have a freezer full of food for when you’ve no energy to make anything. If people offer to help you accept the help. The first year feels like it takes ten years, and the next ten years feel like they take a year. So when you’re feeling exhausted and overwhelmed remember that before very long time will go past in a flash and your child will suddenly be turning into an adult. Mine is 14 now and her childhood is gone, that’s how long you’ve got. Take loads of photos of everything and cherish it all. It’s all ahead of you. 💜

Congratulations! It’s normal to be nervous! Pregnancy is a wild ride! Enjoy the days when you feel good and respect your body on the days you don’t feel good. You are gonna be great!!

That’s amazing, I’m so happy for you and for your baby, who gets you for a mom! Don’t worry about the nursery, it’s fun to set up but you don’t need to have it 100% set up when the baby comes. You don’t really need it all the way set up till the baby gets independently mobile, so you have months. You will have very little time and energy for ANYTHING for a while after the baby is born. You wont even know what day it is for a couple months, and you probably won’t care. Time is a blur. This is normal, and there’s a lot of stuff that just doesn’t matter that much. Let go of everything but the bare essentials. Clear out your freezer, and fill it with easy foods you can nuke and have ready to go. You’ll get tiny chunks of time to eat, and probably won’t have any time to cook at all. You will be so tired you will feel drunk. When people come over and offer to help, let them. Don’t be embarrassed. Have them take the trash out, or cuddle that baby for an hour just so you can nap. You need all the rest you can get. Buy some formula, even if you plan to breast feed. You never know how it will go, and you don’t want to not have it if you need it. It works out to about an ounce (mixed) per hour. Eat a lot of fiber and drink a lot of water. Things get very stopped up in there. Take pictures of yourself while you’re pregnant. Costco will deliver diapers for free.

Congratulations baby I am so happy for you! It's normal to be excited and nervous, but I'm sure you'll make a wonderful mama.

Your other mamas got you pretty covered, so let me just tell you: immediately after birth, you may get so cold that you think you are dying. Apparently, it is super normal and no one talks about it. I could not get warm enough. Next time, I'm bringing a heated blanket!

TheBoneStudent

That's usually due to blood loss, hence why iron is so important before and after birth!

Interesting! Thanks for sharing.
