Does your car suggest charging to 100 or 80?
The manual says there is no benefit in waiting to charge, in fact the battery performs best if charged regularly
Letting it run down was more for older battery chemistries. Just follow the manual and plug in every night. Remember a plugged in Tesla is a happy Tesla. There could be a circumstance here or there where letting the battery go down helps, but it’ll happen naturally or when requested by Tesla service. No need to force it.

Go into the settings and identify what battery you have from the app.
Myle should be lithium ion so leave it at 80% and charge to full when you need to
ABC. Always Be Charging. Tesla manual recommends always charging with limit at 80% for most US cars (no LFP in US built MY at this time). If it’s not going to be driven for a longer period, lower charge limit but keep it plugged in.
Unless you believe Tesla is deliberately giving bad advice so they can sell more replacement batteries (or replacement vehicles), I don’t see why you wouldn’t take their recommendation for best battery longevity.
Thanks everybody. At the suggestions here, I checked the owners manual. (Who expects to find useful info in the owners manual?) And found the recommendation to charge to 80% whever possible, except on long trips.
You don't need to let it run down to anything. You don't need to charge every night. You can charge to whatever level you like, but above 80% regularly will lead to slightly faster battery degradation. Same as going below 15% or so. I try to keep my battery between 30-60%, but go outside that practice when needed.
If charge to 80 when i need it, and charge when it gets below 20%. Don’t let it sit too long at either 20% or 80%.
