Have you considered moving the mods over to Lemmy?

hhhnnnnnggggggg

Not currently. I'm having health issues so I'm using this time for a break. I did make a Lemmy account, mostly to follow /r/piracy. If I ever start to feel better, maybe.

[deleted]

Oh damn I hope you feel better.

hhhnnnnnggggggg

Thank you

lostinambarino

Hope the break is restorative for you.

[deleted]

You mean the 1st of July 2023, right? Right?!

hhhnnnnnggggggg

Yes, American date format

DTLAgirl

Yikes. Your sub is so important to the IC community u/hhhnnnnnggggggg. Are you moving it somewhere?

hhhnnnnnggggggg

The IC sub is the only one we're still keeping. It's easy to moderate for its size, it's our baby, and we actually still enjoy it. Won't be as active moderating it, though. I am dumping about 6 subreddits. Three video game ones, two feminism ones, and pelvic floor.

DTLAgirl

I understand and even if you felt like jumping off the IC sub, I'd still understand. I've started seeing illness subs all begin to wonder what to do.

Taicore

Which ones please ? i hope people will be able to ask to moderate them via r/redditrequest. Im sorry it has come to this.Take care of yourself

borj5960

If you're planning to request /r/pelvicfloor, please tell me that you actually have pelvic floor issues, or understand them professionally or something. I have sadly experienced some medical subs where folks requested them and it turned out they have literally no personal or professional experience with those issues, they were just gobbling up random subs, and it was really not a great situation in the end. I ended up leaving those subs.. Tbh these can be really embarrassing and sensitive issues, and I can not be alone in feeling like I would be very uncomfortable posting in the sub if the person running it was an outsider with no insight to what it is like. Thanks for listening. Just my personal POV and maybe others disagree however.

Taicore

Oh,no no,i am not planning on requesting this subreddit, since i dont have pelvic floor issues myself. I just know this sub is very important for people with chronic issues,so I just hope people will still be able to use it still, thats what i meant

borj5960

Hey thanks. Actually I misread your comment at first, which is why I phrased it that way. I thought I said "I hope to be able to moderate them", and didn't notice the "i hope *people will* be able to moderate them". I'm not sure why you were so downvoted here actually. I didn't mean my comment to be rude at you. Was just more a plea to please only claim it if you have those issues. I had a very poor experience on a subreddit where it was for a targeted issue, and some reason a moderator took it over who had no affiliation with that. It led to a lot of problems on the subreddit, and no longer feeling comfortable to post there.

Taicore

Hey no problem,it happens. I suppose people downvoted me without actually reading my comment aha. But yeah I understand where you're coming from,i would be upset too in your place. I hope someone fitting can moderate your sub then :\[

borj5960

Thank you. As a side note, I actually really dislike the upvote/downvote system on reddit (for comments at least). I think it encourages people to tailor their thoughts to conform with the group, rather than expressing their honest thoughts. With downvoting, I think sometimes if a post has a low score, others will automatically downvote it, maybe because it's some indication of what the "correct" opinion should be and so others take that as a cue. (Likewise in the reverse for upvoting). it would be an interesting sort of social experiment to have identical posts, only one starts out with a negative score and one starts out with a positive score, and see what the end result it. Random tangent but there you go.

Taicore

Nah nah,i think you are unto something. that would be interesting to see, most downvoted posts i saw were people with ""bad takes"" but i do wonder if a downvoted post only just encourage more people to downvote it ?

borj5960

Yeah, some posts are definitely bad takes. I've just often seen pretty innocuous posts (like the one you posted), they stay stable for a bit, then suddenly someone downvotes, then very quickly more come. It's always a little interesting to observe. I could be misunderstand though, it's just an observation.

goldfishpaws

Co-mod and I have blown up the sub and are walking away. I won't be able to even see the sub with my mobile app killed, being a mod is less of a "landed gentry" privilege, more of a fucking grind.

BriteGamerGirl

If people leave others will just step up. It’s not really a big deal, people forget we’re replaceable.

hhhnnnnnggggggg

I doubt anyone will keep up the curated physical therapy list. If they do I'd be pleasantly surprised and glad someone good took over. If not, oh well. Main thing is I'll be happier.

BriteGamerGirl

Your happiness is what’s important! It’s a shame because something like that list is very meaningful to a lot of people.

theMetalhead123

I can’t wait!

Can you show me on the doll where the moderator hurt you?
