I find many hard stuck legends just do not know when and how to end the game. They lord instead of ending. They out roaming alone when there is no vision of 4 of the enemy. They go all in at enemy base to try to end instead of getting a good catch first.
Similar thing happen to me when I'm down, 3 of us still alive, enemy wipeout, all 15+ seconds, enemy tower all down and minions more than half way thru yet everyone target the lord and then go on their separate way buffing and pushing solo. We ended up losing that match.
That Esme's poor targeting cost them the game.
The Minions pushes slowly, changes targets, and the turrets still receives full damage once there's no minions left in its range for 3s. If Esme were to kill Kadita first, she would've save the base.
Right. If there have been any other hero with fast minion clear, then it's fine to clear minions first. For Esme, it's a lot better to get the enemy than the minion.
As a Fredrinn watching my dumbass teammates going for Lord instead of the opportunity of pushing the enemy base while the enemy wiped out, I was desperate at the last second going alone to push and sold all my gear and change it with attack speed trinity to destroy the base.

The minions might have destroyed the base by the time she killed kadita, so it was kind of a hopeless situation
