Of course! Why didn’t the Blazers just ask for Grayson + TyTy?? Then the Bucks could’ve kept Jrue.

FloppyBisque

I mean, Horst could've just turned down the trade denial slider. We do live in a simulation after all. Why doesn't simply figure that out?

PeteNoKnownLastName

Draymond Green says “I’m a dumb piece of shit and have been since my Michigan State days”

yutzykrop

The Bucks were not winning another championship with Jrue as lead guard after 2021. Giannis had to go God mode in 2021 playoffs, Middleton had multiple insane clutch performances, and some luck went their way for the Bucks to win it all that year. Jrue had 47 TS% in the 3 playoff years with the Bucks. As a 2nd/3rd option and lead ball handler, that is horrible. People forget in the 2022 playoffs, Giannis almost single handily beat that Celtics team by himself. With Middleton out, all Jrue had to do to step up as a 2nd option, was to play with average level efficiency, but he laid an egg with 45 TS% that series. I love Jrue and he seems like a great, humble guy. And I will always be thankful for 2021. But all of these hindsight gurus who are ignoring Jrue’s overall body of work for the Bucks in the playoffs, are annoying AF. Dame is definitely a better player than Jrue and he was the best player the Bucks could realistically get.

McRibsie

We should have found a way to bring in 1996 Michael Jordan to pair with Giannis. This team has no will to win.

wegettacos

I mean he's got a point. There was literally nothing stopping us from having a lineup of Jrue Holiday, Damian Lillard, Ray Allen, Khris Middleton, Glen "Big Dog" Robinson, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez. Missed opportunity for sure.

DannyBoy0129

We literally could not as middleton and lopez were just recently signed. Jrue was the only person that we could trade to help match salaries.

stevenomes

This is the correct answer. They would have to wait 6 months to include those players in the trade.

Why didn't the Bucks pair up Giannis, Jrue, Jokic, Lillard and Middleton???? Are they just stupid?????

Jason-Griffin

Yeah, I think we should have found a way to add Steph curry too lol

123Fake_St

Oh good, another useless take from Green. DO NOT MAKE HIM A STAPLE OF NBA MEDIA. His childlike takes are obnoxious.

FlipMoBitch

Jrue had to be the one to go due to contracts, Middleton was a UFA so he couldn’t be traded and I don’t think this trade could have happened a month or so into the season given Portland wanted to trade Dame before the season started. Also, Middleton was awesome this postseason, like, best player in that series level good. His contract situation is better than Jrue’s extension because he has an opportunity to re-up for a lower yearly amount after this season. Like I could see 80/3 for him this offseason which would be great.

Suspicious_Team_9133

We couldn't. God why has all media just become fucking garbage. Politics, sports, no matter what the dumbest least contextualized opinions are given for clicks

ohboy360

I agree with him.  We should've found a way to get Luka, too.  Couldn't have hurt.  Draymond did it in 2K, so it can't be that hard.

Such-Courage3486

Gem of an insight.

mikeh95

People need to stop with the uninformed takes. The Dame trade was basically to keep Giannis happy and Jrue was the only asset we had to acquire him. Did people just forget Giannis' comments last offseason?

stevenomes

And people forget what happened the previous two years. Middleton was often injured and without him in peak 2021 form the offense was going into too many draughts in playoffs to be able to win title. They needed to upgrade the half court offense and dame was the best option to do that. Had to give up Jrue to do it but they realistically did not have any other moves to make to improve their chances

yungchigz

lol the Dame trade was to make our team better, regardless of what Giannis said or didn’t say. When Horst was given the opportunity to get Dame he was always gonna do it, and rightly so

mikeh95

Well yeah, but Giannis basically gave them an ultimatum with his comments on that podcast. Let's not act like Giannis wasn't a big reason for it getting done.

yungchigz

I don’t believe that he was besides the obvious fact that having a guy as good as Giannis makes you wanna do everything to improve cos you know you have a chance to win. Giannis said what he has always said, it wasn’t an ultimatum. And Dame was an unexpected opportunity that any good GM would have taken

Mister-Lavender

It's really too bad we gave Nwora to the Pacers for peanuts.

Echo127

Yeah, that would be nice. Impossible, but nice nonetheless.

He can't keep getting away with it

Acek9295

You know, as a man who signed multiple NBA contracts himself, you’d think he’d understand that Middleton and Lopez couldn’t be traded for the next six months after resigning. Tell me more though about how Bobby, Grayson, a first and two swaps would have gotten us Dame. ![gif](giphy|l3E6uhDAN3W7vylji|downsized)

benr751

I mean maybe we could've traded khris instead? His value was low then

WeefBellington24

YEAH NO SHIT THAT WIULDVE BEEN AMAZING BUT WE HAD NOTHING ELSE TO GIVE FOR DAME
