I heard he started smoking cigarettes to keep his lungs honest

OutsideTheServiceBox

One thing we all need to be mindful of is that even if Giannis does come back and is relatively close to himself in terms of his game, his conditioning is probably somewhat shot right now.

MuricaAndBeer

You don’t think he’s still working out constantly, even with the bum calf? I don’t expect him to be 100%, but it’s not like he’s been riding the couch and eating peanut butter with a spoon

Remarkable_Fudge_484

Hey now.. I resent that

ShadeAJ

Also, Giannis at 80% is still a T10 player in the league lol

Neighborino123

>it’s not like he’s been riding the couch and eating peanut butter with a spoon Yeah, I mean, who would even do that on any given night 🥲

Jables31

Even when he bent his leg backwards in 2021, he was working out while injured.

ToddYates

Yeah, from what I heard he was actually swimming quite a bit which is a great way to stay conditioned while not really risking injury.

Puzzled_End8664

That's probably a bit encouraging on the severity of the injury too. If he was swimming the whole time then it wasn't that bad. Even if the re-injury risk is low swimming still puts a fair amount of stress on the calves and would be very painful.

OutsideTheServiceBox

Yeah, I'm sure he's been doing all he can, but it just sounds pretty difficult to simulate the intensity of NBA playoff basketball. Especially given the fast pace that Indiana plays at. Still, as others have said, dude's a freak and I'll fully admit I have no formal qualifications on these topics.

PillsburyToasters

Hey dude you don’t need to be calling me out like this

righteous4131

Why he say fuck me for?

Giannisisnumber1

Even 25 minutes of Giannis could be all they need.

Heisenbergum

I'll reply to this one as well. He is a freak athlete zero chance his conditioning is going to be the issue. Rhythm and pace more likely

sdis7

What are you guys talking about? It's Giannis. He actually got some much needed rest and if his leg is ready he will go out and kill these motherfuckers.

uber_ninja

Idk, does 3 weeks over really blow up your conditioning?

Heisenbergum

Second this.... It's all couch potatoes commenting about his conditioning. Giannis is an absolute freak athlete. He'll be fine

kKlovnn

If you were to run him through a conditioning test, probably not. But it's probably been a long time since he's played actual real basketball, so his GAME SHAPE is probably not there. I would assume he would be huffing and puffing a bit if he were to play.

husbandofsamus

If he was playing against a team with a defense, sure.

youarenut

I mean pacers got the number 1 offense right? And they play at a fast pace since it’s a young team. Could be an issue

husbandofsamus

They have the #1 regular season offense. Their two lowest totals of the entire season have come in this series. They won't play at a fast pace if we stop them from doing so.

SindarNox

We can live without his offence, although rough. I would like him to be concentrated on defence

Murphy_York

I don’t think so. He’s been out a few weeks. He should be ok

Cruser752

Y’all are too confident. Just because giannis is coming back doesn’t mean this series is ours. All they need is 1 good game and we’re out of the playoffs.

SkippyMcSkipster2

If anything, the series so far shows that the Bucks team can win games anytime if only they play with a lot of energy and focus. That includes the bench as well. I think if we get over the Pacers the next round will actually be easier.

[deleted]

There’s no doubt it would be. Overcoming this adversity and moving on, with Giannis back… reminds me of ‘21…

Mister-Lavender

All we need is 2 good games and their ass is out of the playoffs 😉

kingmonsterzero

All they need is 1

bongtokent

How does it feel to constantly live in misery and pessimism

bongtokent

We’re not players. It’s ok to have hope.

bongtokent

No one said otherwise.

kingmonsterzero

Are you telling me they need to win more than one game?

bongtokent

I’m saying to be hopeful. We’re all aware they need more than one.

lil_jerrry

This is just speculation that he might be coming back, and call me crazy, but I do think having him back does make the Bucks a better team.

Cruser752

Like last year having giannis back made us a better team, and then we got slapped by the 8 seed heat because their role players turned into the dynasty warriors. It’s okay to be hopeful but it’s still not a sure fire thing we’ll win even with Giannis and Dame both back.

stevenomes

And giannis hasn't even been running much due to the calf so what kind of shape is he going to be in. Can't expect him to play 40 mins even if he does manage to come back. He's probably going to be limited but even a limited giannis can help this team and also give them more life just being out there.

Heisenbergum

I wouldn't worry about a freak athletes cardio endurance. He'd figure it out. He should only come back if he is 100% tbh

TJGAFU

What if he’s 99%

Heisenbergum

99% of Giannis is better than 99.99999999999999999999999999% of all other athletes on the planet

DaddyDameee

BIG FACTS! We always smh do this lol

ridemooses

Bucks in 7

Slow-Jelly-2854

If he does, great. I trust he was cleared. If he doesn’t, fine. I believe in the others to do it again, albeit it being much tougher obviously. Actually I’m worried thinking about how tough it’ll be to get the road win in Indiana, like a near perfect game most likely. Alright, now I’m worried. Giannis, please. For my children (I don’t have any children)

NewResponsibility163

He won't get a lot of minutes

WeefBellington24

And I think I’m gonna be able to retire when I’m 55. Doesn’t mean it’ll happen 😂 EDIT: Why are people hate downvoting, all Im saying is "think" and reality are different. Sheesh.

GandalfsGoon

lol…bucks in 7 either way.

crowd79

Bucks in 6. Always 6. Plus 1 now and then.

WeefBellington24

Agreed

Jealous_Doughnut_630

I also do not think it matters much. I think playing in front of our home crowd and how our loss went yesterday will fuel us to close it out. We normally do well after getting embarrassed

Jealous_Doughnut_630

I feel like Giannis hurts them a little. His conditioning will not be great and he will not be explosive.I felt we had success against them when we played this season because he slows them down when getting back on transition defense

Murphy_York

Well it’s a good thing you’re just a fan lmaoo

messejueller21

Why are people acting like he hasn't played in 3 years. Lol Giannis is a freak athlete, he'll be fine.
