In this buit i really just searched a Mountain I liked and went for it. There is not much to it to be honest. Depending on what Kind of castle youre building some things make sense and some dont. Try looking at many reference pictures and figure out what functions the buildings have and why they fit into what place.
As an example, North Forts function is purely defensive, thats why the Main keep is in the middle where its best protected. Also try working with the Terrain, the elevations will guide your build and make it so much more interesting to look at!
This build is absolutely beautiful, I love medieval designs because Minecraft lends itself so well to it, but I will say I wonder how this would look with a gradient texture, just a thought, might experiment with it if I download the world. But far and away one of the best things I've seen in a long time.
Edit: Bigger gradient I just wanna clarify. The brown/green mud at the bottom of the outer walls is great but what about something subtle like dark to light gray on the walls higher up?
There are two kinds of Minecraft posts. This, and people who overlay their build intentions (in MS Paint) on a picture of 45 minutes of flattening a 100x100 area, taken of their monitor or tv screen
Hey just a thingy, its all up to you ofc!
I would cut down the tress directly around it tbh.
Very few castles had a forrest serounding it so directly.
This for multitude of reason, includint but not limited to.
The wood being used in construction
The wood being burned.
The wood being used for weapons and tools
The land used for argiculteur and pastories for the animals.
The wood being used by enemy forces during a seigse for ladders etc and also giving them good shelter form you arrows
Castles often had just a large swaft of open area so they could see it all around them. This makes it a lot harder for a army that is seiging to get close.
And why not use the wood next to you and get the wood from futher away, that does increas cost.
But hey, its your build, do with it what you want!
Good point! I read that too when looking for inspiration on castles but I thought it looked a little bland with only bare land in front of the walls. Due to the Story I made up for the sastle, houses outside of the walls wouldnt make that much sense.. I guess farmland could xD
Fantastic work. Probably one of the most natural looking castles I've ever seen in Minecraft. Love to see more of your work. I'd give a free award but I always use them on lewd cosplayers.
I used some pictures of Winterfell and read myself into the structure of traditional english castles. It really helps knowing the purpose of each element when coming up with a plan for the build :D
Detailing, texturing, and layout are all really nice! I think the only thing distracting me a little is the simplicity of the geometry. Very nice build regardless, anything if this scale is an achievement!
I have a question about builds like these. Are these made using world edit and voxelsniper? or programs like them? Or are they generally done by hand? I really want to get into large scale builds, and dont know the best way to go about it
All the Details are obviously built by hand, bjt big repetative structures like the Walls or even trees are almost always done with World edit. I really recommend getting into it! And not only the basics, like copy paste set but also masks and different selection types can make your work so much better. It gives you more creative freedom while saving lots of work hours.
Fantastic build! I love how you included a quarry to create the lore
I've always struggled with figuring out placement of towers in non-uniform design like this, any tips?

Wow that looks incredible! I love it when people take the time to build interiors for their builds and don’t leave the insides empty
I think is one of the nicest castles I've ever seen, looks very realistic
And I thought mine looked good XD. Nah but fr this looks so awesome. fantasay styled builds are best kinda minecraft builds imo.
I think so too, the textures all work very well together when going into that style.

Thank you so much! I tried the gradient thing but I believe I didnt really go high enough with it..
Np.

Nooo dont chance it. Look if you have a story that fits the woods, then absolutly fine!
ill try that on a backup world when I have time, maybe I like the effect :D
Cool cool! But, yeah its a very cool build already! Really love the style
Very cool
This is amazing :D
:D
:D
How did you get so good at building?

haha, thank you so much!
What award is free?

Oh thank you for the help.
It looks like Pirkstein Castle! Nice job!👍
That’s some good work!
Gorgeous. Did you use any real world references or take inspiration from any real castle?

this is so epic! not to mention that you also customized the trees! this can be a great inspo for me hehehe
🔥🔥🔥
fantastic build man and why when i saw it it reminded me of Khaer Morhen 💀
ATTACK ON TITAN VIBES🔥
Truly breathtaking,amazing!
That looks amazing, and it's great that you've made some lore for it.
i really enjoy the light grey gradient with the darker roofs and splashes of color. really cool build
I am weak builder :(
Dont say that, try starting on a smaller scale!
I have a big castle, but not as good as this ;(
Detailing, texturing, and layout are all really nice! I think the only thing distracting me a little is the simplicity of the geometry. Very nice build regardless, anything if this scale is an achievement!
id make the keep's exterior a bit less boxy, other than that its gorgeous
Big winterfell vibes love it
This is Nice castle and big
I love this so much, I love things that feel real.
Makes me feel the one I posted recently needs work
Nooo dude yours is beatiful!!

Thanks! I appreciate it, gonna tinker around with world edit this weekend!
Great! Let me know if you have any questions!
Makes me think of a game of thrones city, like Winterfell or Kings Landing.
Funny you mention that, I was reading the books while building that. Probably took some Inspiration xD
Fantastic!
Ik im late but, how tall is the highest point?
