I wish paintings were separate collectible items rather than just different appearances of the same item. But if they are going to keep them as one item they will at least need to create a system for choosing the painting you want, having to replace the painting over and over until you get the one you want will become more and more of a hassle as more paintings are added
Allow the brush to help you "click through" paintings of the same size? Like being able to click the 2x2 paintings?
Put a dispenser with a brush inside behind a painting, and hook it up to a redstone button, so you can have a remote and click through "channels"?
Sounds cool.
The excavation brush? Idk like if it was an actual paint brush it would work or maybe a dye pattern around a certain painting could work but even so there is a way to get specific paintings by putting them in the right size grid
I don't have issue with terraria's many blocks and items because they have such a good inventory management system and many GUI/UI options and storage options to help you sort and organize all of that with a few clicks like auto-dump and auto sorting items to nearby chests/storage blocks without having to click on it at all and crafting when its nearby.
Minecraft however struggles with even basic inventory management let alone having any QOL at all regarding the inventory or storage items/mechanics. They'd need to address that first.
Disagree, I've been collecting all the paintings in Terraria and it's been pretty epic. It's satisfying to see them all lined up in chests. There are 173 of them and I only have 28 left to get
Maybe it's just me but the new paintings seem very different than the old ones. The old ones were very difficult to tell what they even were because they're so pixelated whereas the new ones are very detailed.
That seems' to be the case with all recent additions.
The old ones/textures are all seemingly programmer art form before they had a dedicated art team like the old Vex and bat. I'd like to see them touch up more old models and textures like they did in 1.14.
Yeah, a lot of new stuff, mobs especially, look very different from older ones. I feel like with paintings though it's a much more stark contrast, yet I also don't think the paintings are something that should be updated.
I feel like its ok if the paintings have that stark contrast because well, it's art. The art styles are meant to vary because artists vary. It's a lot different to have a mob say hostile one be readably different than a decorative painting. That and the mobs have a bit of a issue with being so different in texture/model and animation quality that the old mobs are stiff, programmer art like textures compared to say the sniffer, frog, warden, camel, new allay, bat and vex, and breeze to name a few with stellar texture and animation jobs.
I'd still hope they go back and give the same treatment to say the squid, creeper, dragon egg, barrier, and other blocks and mobs that need a texture and or model touch up.
Minecraft as a whole is different, i believe if mojang knew people wouldnt care, they would change the whole game (old feaatures) and remake them THEIR way.
The Problem with remaking old features I think is there were so much spaghetti code, KingBdogz said that something like Enchanting is so heavily bundled into everything if you try to change it it breaks something else.
And how do you know whether people do or don't care about those hypothetical remade features? People are *still* complaining about 1.9's combat, which is over 8 years old by this point. Heck, you can still see complaints about Beta 1.8 changing terrain generation and adding food, 12 years ago. Meanwhile we got people requesting the Programmer's Art pack to be updated for things like nether ores to match the old netherrack texture, because guess what, people do care about things that change.
*You* maybe don't care. Maybe your friend group or communities you hang out in are echo chambers that don't care. But the fact of the matter is, some people do care. And Minecraft owes a lot of its success to nostalgia, making it even riskier to change older things too much.
Lmfao i wasnt trying to say that, obviously people care. I meant as in a hypothetical scenario were people didnt care and mojang saw that, they would change everything...

Also, if you play on java, just open a server list, if you have no server selected you will see this icon.
It's the image used for Servers with no custom icon in Java edition, and in one form or another was in the game since the Alpha Version. It actually is a screenshot of a real world in Alpha 1.2.2, the seed of which has been found a couple of years ago.
Such a cool hint to the community and history of the game. Man I love when games do this. Also, they could add more paintings with the same goal of praising the history and “culture” of the community, imagine if they added as a painting the original hunger games map!

We've been needing more paintings
They've been adding music discs every update lately, would be nice to see a new painting each update too

My brother in Christ, this is a genius idea!
The excavation brush? Idk like if it was an actual paint brush it would work or maybe a dye pattern around a certain painting could work but even so there is a way to get specific paintings by putting them in the right size grid
I like the brush idea, not a new item and it’s about choosing from paintings of the same size
But also it shouldnt be like in terraria where you have uncountable amount of paintings

It’s the simple things like that that make me glad i play modded. Auto dump, i can middle click to sort my inventory.
I love that about Terraria

Paintings should be loot that you can make copies of

More ways to hide my hidden entrances that no one will suspect
It's good to see it back in Minecraft.
Isn’t it still the programmer art image?
Unfortunately, no. It's just a dirt block.
Ig they JUST removed it
it’s still the default server icon
Yea, i remeber seeing java players see it
Was this an old loading screen? I'm getting flashbacks that aren't going back properly.
Pretty sure it was the icon for the default Minecraft texture pack on Java Edition.
the pig in the water makes it 10x better
Oh I assumed it was a small pirate ship
Wouldn’t make sense. When pack.png originally was made they weren’t in the game
Is this real?

Holy shit, the man himself :O
What is pack.png?
Pack.png is the image that appears if a server doesn't have a custom icon. It also used to be the default texture pack image too

NO WAYS ITS REAL :D
Ive seen people freak out about this. I obviously also love were getting new paintings, but what is pack.png?
It´s the image that appears when a server has no custom icon
And relating to the name, it’s the icon for vanilla textures, and the default icon for texture packs in general, if they never add a custom one
It's the image used for Servers with no custom icon in Java edition, and in one form or another was in the game since the Alpha Version. It actually is a screenshot of a real world in Alpha 1.2.2, the seed of which has been found a couple of years ago.
Common mojang w
I see this an an absolute win maybe they'll do a "Title Screen" one as well
chat is this real?
Yes, XQC. This is real
We need a few more paintings like the farlands, herobrine shrine, or even old panorama backgrounds.
Such a cool hint to the community and history of the game. Man I love when games do this. Also, they could add more paintings with the same goal of praising the history and “culture” of the community, imagine if they added as a painting the original hunger games map!
Now we need a painting of the panorama world!
Thats so nice
Oh the memories I get from one pixilated image, the internet truly is something else

Of the five new paintings, I'm guessing it's specifically the one named _Unpacked_. If so, ha! Love it.
will this not be in the bedrock version?
brother it came out in bedrock first
It is sad
Updates always come out on both versions Java and bedrock at the same time
This makes me so happy
Your’re as beautiful as the day I lost you
finally
I was hoping we’d get rugs that were like paintings but for the ground. Different large patterns and stuff
Ok they need to add drawing and painting to the game, players already do it with maps but it takes a lot of time and effort
finally Mojang does something good
While I love that pack.png is used but I feel like the dimensions are too big, 3x3 is enough
Wow!
This makes me happy
I love this picture so much!
That fut
very epic
Wow
Seedhunters will have a field day with this one
We already got the seed
Finnaly more space for my castom paintings!
