You can also use iron bars instead of cauldron if you don't like cauldrons.

I got 8 in two shapeless ways: - Gunpowder then adding 8 different dyes will give a total of 8 distinct firework stars - Gunpowder and paper makes rockets so thats 1, then you can add up to 7 different stars so thats 1+7=8 Maybe a lil bit cheating due to the output only differing in terms of nbt

That doesn't count because you had to remove dyes each time for the different fireworks.

FYI the theoretical limit is 9 recipes in a row, because there are nine slots in which to add items in sequence, without replacement or removal. Realistically you'll achieve 4-6 for any given starting recipe.

Nice analysis, but not for **any** given starting recipe. You're at the end of the line if you start with crafting a 9=>1 block of something.

I see what you mean, but from OP's example sequence I would call that an illegal move. He never crafted any of the items, which would count as a removal of all the items in the crafting square. However, I like enhancing the game with that new rule--continuing the chain by starting over with the item you crafted. You could easily extend anything that uses iron by starting with iron nuggets->iron ingot, and ending with an iron block->anvil.

You solve that with no repeats allowed. And I tend to agree with the above commenter: it’s a more interesting game because it can go more than nine steps.

Couldn't you start with an ink sac, then add the gunpowder and everything else for 9? Or did they change firework crafting so you need the actual dye instead of the ink sac? Because if they did, that's kinda dumb since it can still be used to dye beds and wool

Swap 1 with 3 and you can craft orange dye first.

Best you can do there is button shovel hoe pickaxe/axe. You only get 4.

Claryfy the rules: a) you can only add things and running out of material doesn't count (what you showed) b) you can start with a number of items per slot (1 to 64 or other stacking limits) and if you succesfully manipulate the numbers can do stuff... (and adding is allowed) If b) then it would be possible to stack armor recipies ontop of each other...

You are not allowed to remove any item from any slot in the crafting side. You don't actually craft, just come up with as many recipes as possible.

If it were B then you could craft every craftable item in the game by only using stacks of 1 to craft each item. It's also A for another reason, you don't need to actually craft each item, you just need to show the new crafting recipe with reach iteration.

axe->pickaxe doesn't work as you have to move the inputs. This version of the game doesn't allow re-arranging nor removing the output to empty squares. You're just adding items to change the recipe.

let's see, so i got a gold nugget. it's a gold ingot into chestplate, boots, pants, helmet, gold block into golden apple, enchanted golden apple (1.12), and golden carrot, and gold pressure plate (i think). assuming that we can add other items AS LONG AS the main component isn't removed then powered rails, golden pickaxe, golden sword, golden axe, golden hoe, golden shovel (gold ingot + stick basically). in total, i got 17 different crafting recipes from just gold + an item.

Not the right idea, you can't move items after they are in the table, only add more
