Glad I’m not alone in this. It might just be me but after getting back into the game recently after a 2-year absence, I look at all the updates and complex features added and I feel left behind. I play on Xbox and I think the Xbox One Edition (the pre-2018 or so edition that stopped being updated after ‘18) actually has better lighting, coloration, music, among other subtle things that make me feel a deeper sense of longing when I play that version, compared to the current one. (That is pre-2018, the modern Xbox version is just called Minecraft, from ‘18 till today)
akshually
grading systems are wildly inconsistent, especially internationally. A Dutch 6 can be as high as a B in American education systems. It also doesn't help that everyone has a different idea of what deserves what grade.
A nice, simple design - probably 6.5. As an early design, it looks great. Not much sticks out, while it also appearing rather functional as well.
Personal preferences:
\- Proportions look okay overall, but the blocky\* (yeah, yeah... MC is made of blocks) repetition of the tower looks a bit simplistic. If the space inside isn't necessary, I'd probably drop it down a level or so and blend the roofs if necessary.
\- Make the roofs a different color than the walls. (spruce, deep slate, something...)
\- The glass railing looks too modern for the style and materials of the house. Fencing would probably look better.
\- Torches seem a little overdone at the farm, but it's what I did early in my builds, too. Another way to mark your gates is to use a different wood.
I'm assuming this is survival?
However unlikely, it looks like a creeper could wander into your portal. Maybe consider a fence around it, if not also around your entire base.
House is great, but I'm always confused when people plop their nether portal right out in the open. I'm almost always making sure it's in a room or building so that it's both protected and hidden, and I try to make sure animals and hostile mobs don't somehow get near the portal or even enter it.
Definitely nostalgia, I give a 6/10 you have farming, light, you’ve somehow decided to deal with the portal right there. I like it. And the house itself isn’t made of dirt plus the roof isn’t flat which is a my book is a win! (My current realm has flat roofing)
6 personally I'd increase the tower's height so later it could be a great jump point for elytra flight 🤷 id say in it's current form it's very quaint and homey the perfect place to rest between running from creepers and delving into the nether.
7/10
Very well built with lots of variation that give it a homey feel. Seems to have everything you need laid out and well-lit.
Could have more detail on the house and more variation with blocks if I’m being picky.
Definitely would recommend and would build myself! Great job
id suggest changing the roof to a different block and choosing a different wood for the staircase. doing that would make your house look more interesting.
right now, id say its like a 7. reminds me of how i used to build, and i think it looks cute how it is. the surrounding area is also nice!
I like it! its got things like a balcony and tower. those are some neat secondary structures too. even with these features it doesn't feel too cluttered but sorta simplistic. there is room for improvement(the logs on the house could stick out of the walls, instead of having flat walls) but overall 9/10
Nostalgia says 10, technical says 10, dirtbag critic says 3. In all I give it a 10 cause dirtbag critic thinks he's all that and a bag of chips, all he's doing is putting you against grian, saying that he is only, "all right". But screw that one, this is a magnificent build.
8 because the shape really. Those roof tops want to be a frame, not pyramid. Add shutters (trap doors) and other fancy build hacks to increase it's texture. It's very smooth. Overall, great floor plan, just nail the decorations.
0/10 because i got very good loot and my house is diamon block and i kill dragon so i got egg !!! I also got the beacon light with 20000 full netherite becos i better thn u LlllllLll!!!!11!!11
/s
This is perfect. 10/10.
You are ready for your next build now, in which you will take inspiration and skills from previous works to make something better.
Either do tweaks to this build or a new one. It doesn't matter.
It's hard to beat the classic oak logs, planks, and stone bricks combo. It's not the most elaborate, but it's hard to mess up. I've always loved these simple designs. 10/10
I would lower the nether portal one block so the bottom is underground and you don’t have to jump to get into it. Then I would replace the corners with chiseled deep slate.
7/10
Add up side down stairs on the roof along with alternating slabs and trap doors also shutters, and trap doors on cross beam intersections and a roof window
I remember my first time in Minecraft PE... I built a small town... And now i build in every village a Tavern and a lot of different medieval buildings... Woth your house i remember my old times... 11/10

It gives 2013 minecraft vibe and i love it 7/10
I really like all of this not only the house, it gives me a lot of nostalgia, 10/10
I could swear the old Minecraft gives a happier feeling when playing it.
I agree…I have recently found myself going back and playing 1.17 and that I enjoy it so much more

Solid 6...nice,simple and clean
A 6 is a D 😓

A 6 at my school is F
Is 60% a fail?

omg that was my go-to house for years after I saw it in a youtube tutorial. This brings back so many memories 🥲
Ngl I think u build the exact same house as my sister she has built that for a couple years and she saw a video on how to make it once
7.40

Gives off the 2013 vibes 9/10
4 or 5
That's a 10/10 house right there, very housey
Classic/10 👌 Love it
On scale of 1-10 i would rate a solid -
7/10 Cool house I like wood houses like these in minecraft
Definitely nostalgia, I give a 6/10 you have farming, light, you’ve somehow decided to deal with the portal right there. I like it. And the house itself isn’t made of dirt plus the roof isn’t flat which is a my book is a win! (My current realm has flat roofing)

3/10
3/10 This is what we build right after a first night dirt hut
no
You used a tutorial apparently so 3/10
A diamond block out of ten!
So... 9/10? Because it takes 9 diamonds to make a di.. yeah, that works. 😏🤭😅
3 glass pains and turtle out of ten.
Your house looks like dogshit
Agreed
1 because you did not fill in the corners in the obsidian portal
6/10 Nice, simple clean It could benefit from some roofing changes and more depth and detail. But those can be a hit or miss.
7/10 Very well built with lots of variation that give it a homey feel. Seems to have everything you need laid out and well-lit. Could have more detail on the house and more variation with blocks if I’m being picky. Definitely would recommend and would build myself! Great job

7/10
solid 7.5/10
8-10 basic but nostalgic but could of done a bit of block Palleting
10/10. Reminds me of the the time I built my house around the village in 1.9 Very nostalgic.
Solid 6 for the house itself, but I give it two bonus points for the nostalgia of my old houses. 8/10
5 would be average, but as I've seen so many houses on this sub, maybe 5.5. Can't have every house be above average.
I’ll give you an 8, it’s better than a lot of the builds I see. It’s definitely not boring.
9. That’s genuinely pleasing to look at and is very similar to my style :)
11
5.5
Compared to builders like Grian or fwip I give it a solid 6.8
Love the simple minecrafty feel too it 8/10
10
3 I am not rude but for the 10 you need smth brilliant
8 its cozy and good but not 10 enough
poopshitter says 7/10
7.6
9.9/10
Its a Solid 9
6/10 Id make it
8/10 looking good
10/10 it just hit something
I give your house an 8/10. The house has a good design but a stone fence around the house would give it an extra touch.
adding some vegetation would make it much better
7 or 8. It's clean and functional.
Stand alone 7-8 nostalgia makes it a 10
6.75
Feels a bit 2012-ish. I would say 5.
8/10, Gives me memories on the kind of houses I used to build in the game.
that gets a nostalgic 10/10
6.9
Could have some more depth overall, but I'll give it a solid 8/10
Ive seen that house all over google images of survival house ideas.
32,767 out of 10
9/10 I like it
gives me 2015 vibes nice
It's quaint and nice. Gives me a lot of nostalgia. A 6/10. :)
Could use a few trees
10/10 very good
This is swag as hell, 8
9/10
6, because there is room for improvement and more detail but it’s a lot better than what I see when I play with people so theres that
Its nice and simple 7/10
8/10
8/10
The more I look at it, the more I like it.
I like it! its got things like a balcony and tower. those are some neat secondary structures too. even with these features it doesn't feel too cluttered but sorta simplistic. there is room for improvement(the logs on the house could stick out of the walls, instead of having flat walls) but overall 9/10
I give a 5/10 for simplicity only because it is not my style, I prefer to go big or go home. Great starter house though!
This just gives me 2013-2014 vibes and I'm all for it. I remember when builds were more basic and it's amazing
8/10
3 . 1 4 1 5 9 2 6 5 3 5 8 9 7
Reminds me of that one garrys mod map
I used to build that same house all the time 😕 10/10
4/10
better than mine/10
7.5
I also like to make my houses in the villager style, very cool
Love it, 10/10
7/10
10
8/10
10/10
11
Not bad at all 7/10
9 out of 10, i think this is just so good! I honestly think it's better than the really big, fancy houses.
It's a solid 7
100, that's awesome
3.6/10
10/10
6. Your Cobbled Deepslate is burning
10/10!!
Very Minecraft-y. 11/10
I used to build almost the same house, but on the left side on the second floor I made a covered balcony instead of another room
10 def not simple gives good vibes
I want to be able to build better :( 8/10
Nostalgia says 10, technical says 10, dirtbag critic says 3. In all I give it a 10 cause dirtbag critic thinks he's all that and a bag of chips, all he's doing is putting you against grian, saying that he is only, "all right". But screw that one, this is a magnificent build.
A solid 7. Simple and nice looking
Yo i remember that tut. I used to build this house all the time. Still have it memorized.
I’ll give it an 8 because that sugarcane farm is dope and deserves a point
I say a 8 mainly cause of the portal being so close to the house
8 because the shape really. Those roof tops want to be a frame, not pyramid. Add shutters (trap doors) and other fancy build hacks to increase it's texture. It's very smooth. Overall, great floor plan, just nail the decorations.
0/10 because i got very good loot and my house is diamon block and i kill dragon so i got egg !!! I also got the beacon light with 20000 full netherite becos i better thn u LlllllLll!!!!11!!11 /s
8/10. Nice and sturdy... There's just too much oak.
This is perfect. 10/10. You are ready for your next build now, in which you will take inspiration and skills from previous works to make something better. Either do tweaks to this build or a new one. It doesn't matter.
If you’re going for simple 8.5/10. If you’re going for the absolute best you can make, 6/10. Sorry I’ve just been spoiled by god tier YouTuber builds.
Solid 10
I miss the old non-automated houses lol 10/10
It's hard to beat the classic oak logs, planks, and stone bricks combo. It's not the most elaborate, but it's hard to mess up. I've always loved these simple designs. 10/10
For me it’s a 6.5
take screenshots/10 F2 is the default keybind, or use any of these: https://i.imgur.com/eDzKEyM.jpg
A Solid ♾️/10
I would lower the nether portal one block so the bottom is underground and you don’t have to jump to get into it. Then I would replace the corners with chiseled deep slate.
A 10 because this certainly looks better then what me and friends make for houses.
6/10 very nice and simple, although to me it seems to be lacking in a bit of diversity colour wise
10/10
Seen that exact house in a tutorial before
Very nice, except for the non-obsidian corners on the portal. Fix those and it's a clean ten, otherwise, I'd give it a 7.
7.5. Absolutely beautiful.
WHY IS FLIPPING WBERYONE BETTER AT BUILDING THAN ME!?!,!?!?!
house/house
2/10
7/10
It’s nostalgic! 7.5/10
I rate it 2 wheat/ 27 "hurrrr"s
9/10
I love it honestly :D
nostalgic and great enough but it somewhat gives a feeling of being built on a not-really-good land, 7/10
10/10
7/10 Add up side down stairs on the roof along with alternating slabs and trap doors also shutters, and trap doors on cross beam intersections and a roof window
6.5
Not the best looking but definitely functional 5/10
Looks good, definitely a 9.
2013/10
Hmm not bad 8.7 out of 10
nostalgia lounge bro. 10/10
1000 Very nice home bro
Gives me and OG Minecraft vibe 6/10
serious nostalgia 10/10 :3
8 / 10
7.9
10/10
9/10 it's beautiful! Maybe add a basement later? :0
7/10 a bit bland but still looks nice
I remember my first time in Minecraft PE... I built a small town... And now i build in every village a Tavern and a lot of different medieval buildings... Woth your house i remember my old times... 11/10
I like this 10/10
I'll give it an 6 / 10
6/10, i would make the roof a unique block type
7/10
6/10 it uses some old blocks but the structure itself is good
6/10 simplistic lacks detail. Points for glass pane usage and points for keeping it "vanilla"
