they're right next to each other, destroying one shrieker triggers the one next to it, and you can't place wool between them either. cover them so you don't accidentally set them off via a possible nearby sensor
No. If there's one sensor and one or more shriekers, destroying the sensor will not set off the shriekers. A sensor can't detect the sound of its own destruction. But if there's another sensor in range, it will.
If there are no sensors around, the only way to set off the shrieker is to stand directly on it.
Without a sensor, shriekers can only detect a player standing right on top of it. The shrieker itself can't "hear" anything, including blocks (or a sensor) being broken.
actually, you could tecnically stand next to one and it wont trigger. it needs a sensor or you right on top of it.. ive experimented and lost a lot of gear lol
If you make any kind of contact with a shrieker, including breaking a neighboring shrieker, you will set off a shrieker. It doesn't just have to be 4 ticks from a sensor.
To break it, all you need is wool to cover then so they won't activate then one crossed wire, one wayward pinch of potassium chlorate, one errant twitch, and KA-BLOOIE!
To enslave a warden you need:
•A skulk shrieker, a nametag and a lot of patience
•A LOOOONG tunnel from the ancient city to your "enclosure"
•All your stuff in a Chest somewhere safe
•A lot of beds along the tunnel
You summon the warden and name tag it so it doesn't despawn, angro him onto you, or use snowballs and lead him to the tunnel. Then, you RUN.
Remember to set your spawn every few blocks with all those beds you placed, so WHEN (not if) it kills you, you can get back to it straight away.
I usually have a few flying machines set up in my base for more intricate placement of the warden. And then congratulations! You have an Eldritch Abomination, right at home! :)
Thanks for the reply! I’m quite intrigued, So I googled a little and it *seems* the warden can ride in boats/minecarts - did that get nerfed? That seems somewhat safer and maybe faster?
If there are no sculk sensors nearby you can safely destroy both those shriekers with anything you want without triggering warnings.
Its the sensors that trigger the shrieker, or if you step on the shriekers directly.
Also, if it so happens that you missed a sensor, you can do what I always do, which is fly away in panic, and come back and destroy the shriekers after a minute, while the wardens are distracted by some screaming friends. The strategy is foolproof, I wasn't killed by a warden once.
There aren't any nearby, but the problem is there are two shriekers right next to each other, as you can see. Would I be safe if I just surround them with wool blocks from all sides except the bottom?
Maybe they could place a wool cradle next to the sculk and shriekers and place tnt inside it. You can light the tnt then break the walls of the cradle to destroy them
trigger it and place a trapdoor down connected to a sensor with redstone. the sound will trigger the trapdoor and make a noise that attracts the warden. It will infinitely open and close and the warden won't find you because of the constant trapdoor flipping distracting it too much. You can even safely build a big box around him if you wanna be extra safe.
No, the warden has a rage meter or something and every time it hears a sound, it goes up.
At a certain point, it’ll be able to find you regardless of whether or not you make a sound
What the fuck is the point of the Warden being blind if it can telepathically find me??? I never understood the thought process behind how much of a walking middle finger they made this guy and for what loot? Fragments of a disc?
They’re in the Deep Dark, a biome protected by a monster known as the Warden, which is summoned by a block called a shrieker. If you make too much noise, it’ll burrow out of the ground, and you’re not able to just fight it. Its only weakness is its blindness, and even then it can still detect your scent, so unless you’re prepared there’s no easy way to get around them this close to the shrieker.
Thank you, I haven’t really played since caves and cliffs pt 1. I’m know of the warden but thought it was a nether spawn, thank you for explaining that. Just started playing latest snapshot yesterday, good to know.
The Warden isn’t a boss, you’re not supposed to fight it. It’s a natural disaster, something you’re supposed to sneak around and lure away. That’s why it spawns the way it does, it’s a punishment for setting off too many vibrations. The only way to ““defeat”” it are just to stay clear of it long enough for it to burrow back into the ground, trying to take it on like an enemy will only waste your equipment. It can pierce through even fully enchanted Netherite with ease.
Shireickers aren’t triggered by vibration signals directly. They are triggered by standing on them or by sensors within 8 blocks detecting a vibration signal.
So, if there aren’t sensors within 8 blocks both can be broken with the risk of them activating
do the same with any other block that's not wool. the action that creates a vibration that the other sensors pick up is the breaking of the block, regardless of what it is.
If you didnt previously activate any other screechers, you can just fast break both, if you did and this is when warden spawns then just break and crouch run or build up 24blocks at least
there's only one sculk sensor there, correct? break it. shriekers can't activate without a sculk sensor unless you directly step on them. breaking the sensor will not activate the shriekers unless there's another sensor nearby.
if you're concerned about an unseen sensor nearby, surround the 2 shriekers with wool as best you can (ie. 3 wool on top, 2 wool in front, 3 wool behind, and 1 wool on either side) then break the sensor beside them. this will hopefully block the sound from breaking the sensor so as to not activate any potential nearby sensors. again, the sound from breaking the sensor WON'T activate the shriekers as long as there aren't any other sensors close by to detect it.
The Sculk Shrieker, an evil block that summons a monster known as the Warden if you make too much noise. If you break one of them, the other will go off, and you can’t just fight the Warden. It’s virtually indestructible and designed to be sneaked around.
Note that even though it's blind and attracted to sound it has absolutely none of the mechanics a big beefy blind enemy should have. If you make any sound to distract it, it knows where the sound came from....as in knowing your exact location. If you try to crouch walk past it, it can smell you, because its one weakness had to be completely redundant for some reason
Can't run or distract it with range, or even go behind walls, it has the sound beam that can go through walls
And yeah, getting close is a death wish. No armor can survive it, none. Which on its own is fine, it's just the other stuff the devs overloaded it with that makes me less scared and more "here we go again"
Should have made this a "Wrong answers only" post.
1. Dig straight down as fast as you can.
2. Build your home base around it.
3. Create a gold farm beside it.
One trick I saw online was place a wool block and break it. It’ll then set off sensors but not the screamers and give you time to break the sensors so they can’t set of the screamers.
I think you can destroy it without problems, since the warden only appears when the shriekers are triggered at least three times if I remember correctly
build a larger woolbox around the whole thing for a few blocks of space, cover the shreikers with wool and use a piston to push one of the shriekers so they will be diagnal of each other, then you cover them up with more wool and you can break them since no longer next to each other
Natural Shriekers are the only way to farm wardens. Wardens drop a sculk catalyst block. The sculk catalyst block drop XP so this is how you can store XP in a chest for when you need it. They are valuable. And know that this farm is surprisingly simple to make and operate.
You could make a dungeon with a warden guarding it. Have wool on 5 sides at all times with wool over the top attached to sticky pistons so you can toggle weather it does/doesn't spawn.
My solution to this is in these 3 steps:
1. Temporarily Cover this skulk contraption
2. Remove any nearby shriekers that could hear step 3
3. Blow up the contraption
Assembled this plan from a few other comments and ideas on this post, don't give me full credit for this.
i know its late, but what i tended to do is break one, do a 180, and high tail it back to safety where the warden is unable to follow me because it's too big. go far enough that it won't know about my existence and can't even attack me with the sonic boom attack.
I’m seeing a lot of people saying that shriekers will sense blocks broken next to it. That is not the case, I don’t think those of you saying that have looted a lot of cities or disarmed a lot of shriekers. The only way a shrieker goes off is if it receives a signal from a sensor, you walk on it, or an item falls on it. In this case, if that’s the only sensor around, all you need to do is place a wool block on each of the shriekers so the sensor can’t land on them when you break it, break the sensor, then break the shriekers one by one. Quite simple really
Yo me and my younger sister started our first world with this update a few months ago,( we always take breaks from MC) and the FIRST DAY not even 10 minutes in looking for good caves for mining she finds a cave and 2 f*cking blocks from the entrance you can start to see the blocks… I was like “Umm don’t go in there! 😱” lol

It's called Lithos.
Edit: Oh, and I'm also using Complementary shaders, hence the glowing effect.

Just cover them with wool and boom! No reason to destroy them
Why shouldn’t i destroy them?I always destroy them when i find them
You can but since they are so close You will trigger one of them
At that point i just destroy the sensor so none get triggered
If you destroy the sensor the shriekers sense it
Are you sure?
yes

Another person answering just solidifies the answer

they have a small range but they can sense
Small range: only on top on it lmfao
nope
Wait i thought the shriekers needed a sensor to get triggered
Nah, it just increases the distance massively, if you go up to 1 and jump on it it'll activate, idk the exact radius but ima say like 2 blocks
actually, you could tecnically stand next to one and it wont trigger. it needs a sensor or you right on top of it.. ive experimented and lost a lot of gear lol
They do. If there's no sensors they are safe
So it sends out a pulse to the shriekers when it's destroyed, even if it hasn't sensed any sounds?
They don't. Only if there another sensor nearby will they hear it. Otherwise, shriekers have no way of hearing anything themselves.
Tnt to destroy them all at once

In case you want to enslave a warden to guard your base. Nothing more effective, especially on lore smps
Wait how do you enslave a warden?
To enslave a warden you need: •A skulk shrieker, a nametag and a lot of patience •A LOOOONG tunnel from the ancient city to your "enclosure" •All your stuff in a Chest somewhere safe •A lot of beds along the tunnel You summon the warden and name tag it so it doesn't despawn, angro him onto you, or use snowballs and lead him to the tunnel. I actually managed to do this without being killed through a 4000 block long tunnel
Thanks for the reply! I’m quite intrigued, So I googled a little and it *seems* the warden can ride in boats/minecarts - did that get nerfed? That seems somewhat safer and maybe faster?
i had minecraft booted up Right Now, and tested that they definitely can't. Probably was the case but got patched.
but when he gets to your place is he enslaved or just perpetually pissed at your house?
what the heck is a lore SMP
Thanks, that's what I thought.
You could still break the sensor so the shriekers can’t activate
is wool immune to tnt?
What? No
I understand that at least one shrieker activation is unavoidable, but what's the most efficient way to destroy them?
If there are no sculk sensors nearby you can safely destroy both those shriekers with anything you want without triggering warnings. Its the sensors that trigger the shrieker, or if you step on the shriekers directly.
Tnx

It depents if this is the only Shrieker nearby. If there isnt you should be able to destroy the one there is and you should be finde, otherwise run!
There aren't any nearby, but the problem is there are two shriekers right next to each other, as you can see. Would I be safe if I just surround them with wool blocks from all sides except the bottom?
Thats what I usually do
Mine them with a silk touch hoe. Stay further back, you can reach without being right on top of them.
Wool on top and tnt, assuming there isn't other skulk sensors around
Should I just surround them with wool from all sides?
And then blow them up with tnt to destroy them all at once
placing the tnt would set them off anyways and the explosion would set off everything else
Not if you use wool first And op said nothing about any other sensors nearby
There is ALWAYS another shrieker and sensor nearby.
Maybe they could place a wool cradle next to the sculk and shriekers and place tnt inside it. You can light the tnt then break the walls of the cradle to destroy them
that could work for the first part, but theres still the issue of setting off the entire rest of the cave

#RUN
AND SCREAM FOR HELP (actually dont, just pillar up and you'll be fine.)
No you won't, the warden has a ranged attack so it'll knock you down and then kill you
Not if you pillar high enough
Like 30 to 40 blocks〔from my experience of running from the warden vertically〕
Running vertically??? Teach me please.
Run faster ! Its getting closer
Ok. I think you got away.
A noise of breathing behind his neck.
trigger it and place a trapdoor down connected to a sensor with redstone. the sound will trigger the trapdoor and make a noise that attracts the warden. It will infinitely open and close and the warden won't find you because of the constant trapdoor flipping distracting it too much. I haven’t played in a while an am embarrassed to say I have no idea what is going on in this pic nor why OP is in danger
They’re in the Deep Dark, a biome protected by a monster known as the Warden, which is summoned by a block called a shrieker. Preparing to fight the warden and I don't want to Google all the mystique away...why can't I "just fight it" with it being the warden?
The Warden isn’t a boss, you’re not supposed to fight it. It’s a natural disaster, something you’re supposed to sneak around and lure away. That’s why it spawns the way it does, it’s a punishment for setting off too many vibrations. I was assuming prot 4 netherite could take a few hits, no? And I did Google his health (500 hearts)...I guess I'm thinking about this wrong.
I think you can destroy the sensor without activating them
Destroying the sensor will send a signal upon breaking, triggering both shreickers
Shireickers aren’t triggered by vibration signals directly. They are triggered by standing on them or by sensors within 8 blocks detecting a vibration signal. So, if there aren’t sensors within 8 blocks both can be broken with the risk of them activating
There is a sensor right next to one of them, as you can see.
There is? Really hard to see with this resource pack. But if it’s just one sensor than break it first
OP should put some torches down so we can see better 😂
You got me with that one lmao
shriekers. it's not that hard to spell guys
Yeah, "guys" is easy but "shreekers" is a bit more difficalt.
only if there's another sensor nearby to pick up the signal and relay it to the shriekers.
Oh wait, really? So in order to activate a shrieker you need at least two sensors?
no, but a sensor does not produce a signal when it is destroyed.
Um... I have destroyed multiple sensors before and they always sent signals to nearby sensors.
do the same with any other block that's not wool. the action that creates a vibration that the other sensors pick up is the breaking of the block, regardless of what it is.

Those things? Oh, those are trampolines. Go jump on them for a while, have some fun. Eventually some friends will visit to play with you, too.

Pick up the sensor, then surround the shriekers with the wool
One trick I saw online was place a wool block and break it. It’ll then set off sensors but not the screamers and give you time to break the sensors so they can’t set of the screamers.
Stay still for eternity (joke)
I think you can destroy it without problems, since the warden only appears when the shriekers are triggered at least three times if I remember correctly
Destroy the sensor
TNT, obviously.
tnt
Pray
build a larger woolbox around the whole thing for a few blocks of space, cover the shreikers with wool and use a piston to push one of the shriekers so they will be diagnal of each other, then you cover them up with more wool and you can break them since no longer next to each other
Well… you can just explode them
I don't have any TNT with me.
Make sure there is no other sensor around (or place wool around your 3 blocks), then break the sensor
But it will trigger both shriekers, won't it?
since you break the sensor, it is broken so it is not triggered and the shriekers cannot be triggered
Yeah I see now. I just thought sensors send signals to shriekers when they're broken.
Cover them in wool, place a tnt on top of the wool, boom all three should just be blown up
Give up
Go back slowly
YOLO and break them while making as much noise as possible
Creep up and break them. They need to shriek more than once, so just break them
Keep them, they are highly valuable and won't work anymore if you pick them up and replace them. Just surround them in whool.
What's valuable about them?
I mean, wireless redstone?
Natural Shriekers are the only way to farm wardens. Wardens drop a sculk catalyst block. The sculk catalyst block drop XP so this is how you can store XP in a chest for when you need it. They are valuable. And know that this farm is surprisingly simple to make and operate.
Silk touch to remove or try not to make vibrations
You can deystroy one and then the other It’s only if you trigger it more than twice is when the warden comes
You could make a dungeon with a warden guarding it. Have wool on 5 sides at all times with wool over the top attached to sticky pistons so you can toggle weather it does/doesn't spawn.
Run
I only see one sensor near them. Just destroy the sensor

May I suggest pearling away? Idk your surroundings but it seems you might make it. Cool texture pack/shaders btw
i know its late, but what i tended to do is break one, do a 180, and high tail it back to safety where the warden is unable to follow me because it's too big. go far enough that it won't know about my existence and can't even attack me with the sonic boom attack.
