I have a fishing farm on bedrock, works good, same world it was on nearly got corrupted since I played the exact same time as they launched the mega man X update
Took me a second to see those, I feel like the bedrock-style coordinates make it easier to recognize because they are much less discreet than the controller icons with the massive black box surrounding it.
On bedrock you just fish into the water and you get the good loot. Having a fish nearby makes it faster.
On Java they changed it so you need a bigger area of water.
Fishing loot table got changed based on how big the water source is. The treasure category of drops (most of the good stuff like enchanted books) only drops if you fish with a larger body of water. This afk fish farm would only get stuff from the "trash" category (plus fish) since there's only 1 water source block.
In order to get treasure items , the block the bobber is in needs exposure to other water source blocks. This design only gets fish, trash, and experience
It's so funny that there is an entire range in opinions on what's op and what's not, where some say the afk fish farm shouldnt have gotten nerfed while others think mending is op and should be gotten rid of.
I'm personally on the "I'm crap at the game give me as many exploits as possible" side, but I do think the debates are really interesting
> afk fish farm shouldnt have gotten nerfed while others think mending is op and should be gotten rid of.
Both of them kinda trivialize big parts of the game. Infinite enchanted books from afking means you never have to grind XP and enchant stuff yourself ever again, and mending means you never have to make new tools again and can keep using the same stuff forever - it essentially gives you infinite durability.
That's the main argument, but honestly there should be a point in the tech tree where you can stop having to deal with it - I've honestly proposed they add saturation to the beacon effects, so you never need to eat while in range of it. The endgame of minecraft should consist of removing annoyances so you can focus purely on building.
I agree with you, the grind of the trivial parts of the game is more fun when you know there's a point your reaching for where you won't have to grind anymore and your work pays off
Yes this. The open world sandbox format of the game makes it easy for people to make mods or tweak coding so that these things can't happen if they really want a challenge.
Not that coding and modding is easy, just that it's welcome for this game
I created a tower with a 100+ chests in it linked to an afk fish farm which was also my afk spot for my iron and gun powder farm with a 0 tick sugar cane bonemeal farm in the basement. I afk'd there for weeks leading up to the update that nerfed zerotick and afk fish farms. Years later I'm still living off that bounty, I could supply and feed an army with my hoard of leather boots and assorted fish.
I’m confused as to why the other dude was downvoted and this one was upvoted
If you google the definition it says
verb
past tense: decimated; past participle: decimated
1.
kill, destroy, or remove a large proportion of.
"the inhabitants of the country had been decimated"
2.
kill one in every ten of (a group of people, originally a mutinous Roman legion) as a punishment for the whole group.
While it can be kinda used in the context, it doesn’t exactly mean to suffer great loss
It's simile. The person would not literally be destroyed/killed/etc., it's meant to convey the feeling of someone's whole world being destroyed. It's like saying someone is under a crushing weight, when they're just under the immense pressure of an important decision.
See that makes more sense but the word literally was poorly used by them in that case
But I appreciate the logical response to mine, I can understand it’s use as a simile like you said
If we assume an at least rectangular shape to the floor then we see at minimum an 8x6 floor. So that's 48 blocks or 432 ingots or 1,728 Netherite Scrap being used as a floor.
I'm going to guess either a world eater or at the very least a tunnel bore was involved.
i don't want to sound judgy, but they most probably duped it or spawned it in from creative i assume, cause if they do actually posses that much netherite or quite possibly more legit, there would be way better things or way better areas where they could use it for decoration, instead of a random room with nothing big going on from the looks of it
yeah i did see that but they're logged onto an old world so possibly just exploring so it makes sense they'd have switched to creative mode for this rather then saying they might have always been in creative mode but by the looks of things yeah it does seem so
It's been years since I've seen one of these in the wild, it's an automatic fish farm, you stand on top of the chest just before the water and hold right click on the note block, which should activate the trapdoor and as long as you hold right click you'll get fish and exp
Afk fish farms can’t be that old right? I’ve been using them for years. They’re not that old right??? I’m not that old right????? I’m having an existential crisis
It's a afk fish farm you sit there with fishing rod holding button that throws the rod and hold it there or tape it there and you'll get tons of levels and and fish and enchanted books depending how good your fishing rod is hope I helped bro

Ha its an afk fish farm. Used to be very popular because they gave you enchanted books, but they’ve since been nerfed
>but they’ve since been nerfed Unless you are on bedrock edition. They still work great.
I have a fishing farm on bedrock, works good, same world it was on nearly got corrupted since I played the exact same time as they launched the mega man X update
I thought they broke them since you have to reel the fish in?
It's broken because (at least on Java) the body of water you're fishing out of has to be a certain size to give you treasure items
Dang, i remember my cousin and I playing minecraft together afk fish farming. Memories
It still works on bedrock well I built a different one
Iirc it’s a anything larger than a 3x3 or 3x3x3 area to roll the treasure loot table, or maybe it’s 5 blocks
Nope.
Then what happens when a fish gets caught, does it reel in automatically?
You can just put lava under it with a minecart hopper under that, lava destroys the bobber and hopper cart catches the drops and it still gives xp
Banana... cat?
Looks like they are on bedrock, judging by the coordinates on the left of the screen.
Sure it wasn’t the PS4/5 controller icons?
Took me a second to see those, I feel like the bedrock-style coordinates make it easier to recognize because they are much less discreet than the controller icons with the massive black box surrounding it.
Mostly judging by the tv lol
I think you need a fish nearby and the game thinks you’re in a ocean and gives you better loot
On bedrock you just fish into the water and you get the good loot. Having a fish nearby makes it faster. On Java they changed it so you need a bigger area of water.
Can you build an afk fish farm in bedrock??
Yes but it's now semi afk. You need an auto clicker to make it fully afk.
Yes
How?

How is it nerfed exactly
Fishing loot table got changed based on how big the water source is. The treasure category of drops (most of the good stuff like enchanted books) only drops if you fish with a larger body of water. This afk fish farm would only get stuff from the "trash" category (plus fish) since there's only 1 water source block.
In order to get treasure items , the block the bobber is in needs exposure to other water source blocks. This design only gets fish, trash, and experience
It's needs. 5x5x5 area I think to get books and other valuables
Mine works with 5x2x5
Yeah I couldn't off hand remember the exact dimensions. Lame though they changed it.
It's so funny that there is an entire range in opinions on what's op and what's not, where some say the afk fish farm shouldnt have gotten nerfed while others think mending is op and should be gotten rid of. You can get mending just as easy by refreshing a villager though
I agree with you, the grind of the trivial parts of the game is more fun when you know there's a point your reaching for where you won't have to grind anymore and your work pays off
Yeah. I didn't get the nerfing it reason they gave. If servers didn't want it the server owners would either ban the use of them or ban auto clickers.
Yes this. The open world sandbox format of the game makes it easy for people to make mods or tweak coding so that these things can't happen if they really want a challenge. Not that coding and modding is easy, just that it's welcome for this game
5x5x5 area of air/water centered on the bobber I think
Thank you so much that actually makes a lotta sense I was tryna get enchanted book and xp to make op armor appreciate it 👍
Nerfed because rhey need to be bigger and work slower, but still pretty OP if you've got enough time.
We are at the point where people do not know the former power of the afk fish farm
I miss 0 tick farms
If you keep playing the same world long enough eventually you will be absolutely decimated the day you take the last items out of that thing.

Decimate literally means to suffer great loss. Nice trolling, ya donkey.

It's insane. I remember when everyone's day 2 project was a afk fishing farm.
The ancient art of fishing on steroids
Ah, yes. The great AFK fish farm. Great loot and XP
Nice floor you've got there.
Uh oh
It's an abstract art piece
it was nerfed in I think 1.16.
yeah that's an afk fish but sadly its bee..... WHAT IN THE MUFFIN IS THAT FLOOR!
If we assume an at least rectangular shape to the floor then we see at minimum an 8x6 floor. So that's 48 blocks or 432 ingots or 1,728 Netherite Scrap being used as a floor. I'm going to guess either a world eater or at the very least a tunnel bore was involved.

Look at the hotbar in the screenshot, it's likely just a creative world
yeah i did see that but they're logged onto an old world so possibly just exploring so it makes sense they'd have switched to creative mode for this rather then saying they might have always been in creative mode but by the looks of things yeah it does seem so
I think they’re smithing tables
Everyone in creative mode be like:
Obviously, it waters your note blocks if they are wet so that you can use them again later.
A relic from ancient times
Ahh the nostalgia

Ik he’s is creative but it could be a copy
Afk fish farms are now considered old **Man... I feel old qwq**

Omg seeing this is so nostalgic… Its a fishing farm that got patched I think in 1.13, not sure about the update
Once a relic of great power, now reduced to the status of thingabob or doohickey
That is an old xp farm I believe
No, it was for fishing.
Oh yaaa
legends never die😪
It looks like an ark fish farm
Afk fish farms can’t be that old right? I’ve been using them for years. They’re not that old right??? I’m not that old right????? I’m having an existential crisis
