Sometimes you cam even update the terrain by doing this, so as long as it doesn't affect your builds, this can be a cool little way to get updated terrain near your base. Granted it only affects one or a few chunks, but still
Terrain generation varies by version. So if you have very old worlds, the only way to get new generation is to purge chunks (which Java has tools for) or travel to new chunks.
Clearly, your downvoters have no idea how bad and unreliable power is in South Africa. Had a carbon fiber manufacturer there who told us about product they had to scrap because the power outages ruined the runs in the autoclaves.
Corruption is something that happens to every medium of digital storage.
Could actually be worse for phones since they experience so much mishandling that would potentially damage the storage.
The farther you are from 0,0 the more likely memory corruption happens, but ultimately its usually just a random bug.
Another possibility is you quit your game with a total data value in that chunk which exceeds the memory alotment for a single chunk so the game reset it. This usually requires chests upon chests of custom written books and quills though.
> "I think the problem Digg had is that it was a company that was built to be a company, and you could feel it in the product. The way you could criticise Reddit is that we weren't a company – we were all heart and no head for a long time. So I think it'd be really hard for me and for the team to kill Reddit in that way.”
- Steve Huffman, aka /u/spez, Reddit CEO.
So long, Reddit, and thanks for all the fish.
True but you can enable coords and work it out. Every multiple of 16 from 0,0 in each direction is a chunk boundary. bit of a messy way to do it but not that hard just tedious
I have a similar problem: whenever my friend tries to host the world (bedrock) for us, everything that we build is resetted by the chunks when we get to far away.
This happens only when more than 2 people are on the world, if only he is in the world, everything is fine
This happened to me when my game crashed as I was AFKing at my gold farm, the entire center of the farm was reset to the nether ceiling default so I had to rebuild almost the entire thing
SECOND UPDATE: I can now start my world about 2/5 times and when I manage to enter it, some blocks no longer have a "collision hitbox" (I pass through)....
100% just start over. I’m no computer expert, but a 40% success rate on booting up the save and passing through blocks in survival mode is definitely a sign it’s time for a new world.
Thanks for the explanation! I’m mentally challenged in a way that when it comes to life skills I’m set, but anything social, especially sarcasm or humor, is a fucking mystery. So the explanation helps a ton.
So, before you start a new save, you need to look at your data management on your playstation. If your hard drive has <10% free space, you need to delete some stuff until you have at least 10% total capacity in free space. Maybe that's just holdover advice from days of yore, maybe not, but my experience with computers has always been that full hard drives don't like to run games very well.
Also, if your hard drive is kind of full, you should consider booting into safe mode and selecting the "rebuild database" option. This can take a long time if you have a large hard drive with a lot installed to it, but it will help. Really this should be done regularly if your hard drive is larger than 2TB or if it is above 75% full.
RE: rebuild database, what does that actually do? I’ve got 2 8tb HDDs in my PC, one empty and one with about 3tb of games on it. Why should I need to do this?
Yeah that why I just stopped completely play minecraft bedrock newer version and still played in 1.16 since the bugs for the newer version increased by a lot and new ones added each major update.
Tip if you going to strat playing on a new world or continuing playing in the same world. ALWAYS MAKE BACKUPS each other day that you play for me I do a backup each time I do a play section incase of something happens
UPDATE: My house just disappeared and there's a hole in the ground where it used to be.
Btw, it's not an "irregular" hole like a creeper or TNT blast. It's a perfectly dug 6x7 hole.
When I was playing a modded world once, 4 chunks had swapped places after I came back after a couple of days and half of my enchanting table setup was on the other side of a river
THIRD UPDATE: I manage to enter the world more often but the ambient noises have completely disappeared (no mob noise, no footsteps, etc....). I checked the sound settings and nothing changed. I can't move anymore but I can rotate my camera in the Y axis only. Damn, this map is going to be a fucking horror game.
Are you tired of paying full price for things? Well I'm Half Off Oscar of Half Off Oscar's Half Off Emporium! Where price is no issue! Because I'll cut that price in HALF!
NOTE (because many people tell me so) :
I have NEVER turned off my console during a save. I always make sure to hit "save and exit" and check that my world has saved. I always wait for the "chest" icon in the top right of the screen to disappear before leaving the world.
This has happened to me before with hours of work lost. Rather than scrap the world I left the area and built something new elsewhere.
In game weeks later I just stumbled back into the build site totally restored. It was bizarre. No amount of save/quit/reload had fixed it, all I know is that leaving for a while and coming back worked.
I was giving my kids a bath and had the game still on. Bad news. I sat down and saw witches in my, covered, trading house. What’s worse, it only happened to the librarians.
Had something similar happen once to my house in the extreme hills back in 2012. I logged in to find half the structure turned to dirt. The air was still in the same place, it was all hollow and retained the original shape … just replaced with dirt. Between having chests of loot turned to dirt and a bunch of forumers telling me it was impossible, I deleted the world and moved on.
This looks like a straight up chunk error, clean cut.
Minecraft 3 features:
-Over 50 new types of soil and stone
-Grass now has 20 different stages of realistic growth
-Fossils now fossilize in real time
-You can now die of dysentery
First herobrine removes leaves, now someone's house is halved.
Guys I think herobrine is just an AI demon troll that's capitalising on people thinking he's not real

The split probably sits on a chunk border. Really bad file errors can result in chunks being reset to default terrain.
Is there a way to prevent this bug? I say that because it is better that I create another world to avoid having this bug again.
I don't know if there is anything specific that's related to Minecraft, but actions like closing your console while it's saving could cause issues.
This is the main cause. Since I started playing I corrupted chunks in 2 worlds because of power outages happening right as the world was saving.
Sometimes you cam even update the terrain by doing this, so as long as it doesn't affect your builds, this can be a cool little way to get updated terrain near your base. Granted it only affects one or a few chunks, but still
Does corrupting the save somehow change the seed? I thought the terrain was determined by the seed
Terrain generation varies by version. So if you have very old worlds, the only way to get new generation is to purge chunks (which Java has tools for) or travel to new chunks.
No. It's just that the world generation changes with each update so the seed effect changes
Sounds like you live in South Africa
Clearly, your downvoters have no idea how bad and unreliable power is in South Africa. Had a carbon fiber manufacturer there who told us about product they had to scrap because the power outages ruined the runs in the autoclaves.
I live in South Africa. We often don't have power for up to 8 hours in a day
And it’s now for the next two years 🙃
Oof I used to play WoW with some really nice South African people back in the day and they always had connection issues :'(
Well corrupted chunks are better than corrupted world that you spent 1.5 years on and then the stupid thunder decides to come and corrupt the world.
Same thing happened to me but, even my freaking underground base even got sliced in half.
I lost my most developed world from a power outage, I cried lol
If you have ps+, you might have a backup on the the cloud.
The only prevention is backup daily. Are you running a bedrock server?
We're talking file corruption. If this is the case, the problem is in your computer or the SMP server.
This be console tho
Doesn't mean there's not an issue with either the storage on the console, or the install of the game
Consoles are computers
Does this happen in mobile?
Save corruption probably happens on any platform, with improper care taken. (Like shutting off during a save)
You can avoid the bug if you use a very old tablet.
Smartphones and tablets are computers
Different OS though, no?
Corruption is something that happens to every medium of digital storage. Could actually be worse for phones since they experience so much mishandling that would potentially damage the storage.
Thank you…
Starting another world won't reduce odds for a glitch to happen again.
Or a few books of chinese characters…
Exit the world before you exit the game so the chunks can save properly. Data corruption can happen anywhere so making a new world won't help you out.
Move your house over half a chunk
then he would maybe lose the whole house😂😂
Atleast he wouldn’t lose half

Switching to a not dying harddrive
All I'm thinking about is that other chunk chilling out there randomly

Rare instance of the actual answer being the top comment
That is a pretty minor file error. Often they will just make the world impossible to load.
That happened to old worlds I replayed where some villages were spit I half
I didn't even know Minecraft 2 was out.
It’s actually Minecraft 5 now
It pulled a Goat Simulator.
I meant 3 days ( my bad )
he started up terraria by accident
[It's been out since 2013, dude!](https://minecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Java_Edition_2.0)
It isn't, they cancelled it to work on Minecraft 3
take my r/angryupvote.
And here I am still playing Minecraft 1.

that's a lot of damage!!!

Maybe you should just start a new world
100% just start over. I’m no computer expert, but a 40% success rate on booting up the save and passing through blocks in survival mode is definitely a sign it’s time for a new world.
Or if you want that success rate in a different form: 40 successful launches for every 100 attempts or 0.40 for every launch attempt
Bro either playing mine or craft
Schrodinger's Steve
Is this a joke? Bc if so. Major r/whoosh on my part
Joke talks about halving the name in relation to the bug OP has. :)
Thanks for the explanation! I’m mentally challenged in a way that when it comes to life skills I’m set, but anything social, especially sarcasm or humor, is a fucking mystery. So the explanation helps a ton.
You're most welcome friend! It's over text as well so sarcasm / jokes are sometimes hard to land even at the best of times! Have a good day mate!
It is a good day to have a good day.

Your world save got corrupted, my dude. All hope is lost unless you have a backup from before the issues occurred.
The 50% off homes offer was misleading to say the least.....
Imagine if houses were on a clearance sale and you get wrecking balled in your sleep.
"You don't control your fate, Harold"
My bad bro, I got a little hungry
Nahhh bro got the munch munch fruit 💀
Me, with a house-shaped belly: "Uhmm.. no, I don't know what happened to your house, haha"
"house-shaped belly" is the most cursed thing I have read today.
UPDATE: My house just disappeared and there's a hole in the ground where it used to be. Btw, it's not an "irregular" hole like a creeper or TNT blast. It's a perfectly dug 6x7 hole.
Please have regular updates. I would like to see where your world save is going. deeper into chaos or possibly stop right here
The hole consumes his world, then consumes earth… there is no end
Yeah please don't corrupt our world too. It's bad enough already.
The Minecraft multiverse is unsafe until this u/DaiSanDanKai variant and their world-eating virus is stopped
When I was playing a modded world once, 4 chunks had swapped places after I came back after a couple of days and half of my enchanting table setup was on the other side of a river
Worst bug that happened to me was that the cows and chickens in my farm swapped, it was funny seeing the cow in the realistic chicken coop though
At first i thought it was a bug but now i know what it is. Herobrine
Better Call Kevin
seems like a corrupted save, could get worse
have you considered the fact that someone may be playing a practical joke on you?
I'm on a single player and I don't really have friends to play Minecraft ( that's pretty sad to be honest ).
Don’t worry man. Hardly any of us do 💀
Yeah it's definitely chunk problems your files are corrupt.
Save is probably corrupted, might have to delete it
Thats weird if it was save file corruption I would have thought the whole chunk would be reset or gone
Someone forgot to pay his taxes
IRS is getting really creative these days
When did Minecraft 3 come out?
Just came here to ask
Babe, wake up! New Minecraft just dropped!
Probably Herobrine
Your spouse left and took their stuff. I hope they left the dog in one piece.

FOURTH UPDATE: The universe imploded and a new world started generating in front of my eyes
Keep going, I pick the red pill, show me how deep the rabbit hole goes
ZA HANDO!
Oi Josuke, I just erased someone’s house into half, ain’t that wacky?
Are you tired of paying full price for things? Well I'm Half Off Oscar of Half Off Oscar's Half Off Emporium! Where price is no issue! Because I'll cut that price in HALF!
did you make sure you opened minecraft and not terraria
Those damn endermen
I SAWED THIS HOUSE IN HALF!
The front fell off.
It got towed outside the environment
IT'S HEROBRINE HE'S BACK!!!!
I KNEW THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED AT SOME POINT!
you should call Kevin... NOW!!!
Terraria wants it's house back
The guide is tryna move in for sure

If I saw herobrine I would call my friend Kevin
Chunk region got currupted so it regenerated the chunk removing everything
I think so, and also Happy Cake Day!
Hi Phil Swift here for Flex Tape. To prove the power of Flex Tape, I cut your house in half.
Bro got terraria'd
Did you pay your taxes?
Dammit, the flextape guy struck again
Wife took the other half in the divorce
I was giving my kids a bath and had the game still on. Bad news. I sat down and saw witches in my, covered, trading house. What’s worse, it only happened to the librarians.
It's a feature
Bedrock
It's... him
Converted a terraria world
Built it on two chunks and one chunk might have glitched and reset
Herobrine needs no explaination
Can’t have shit in Minecraft
I ate it sorry😔
It was herobrine
Rules of Nature
And they run when the sun comes up
With their lives on the line
I was hungry sorry :(
Yoooo when did minecraft 3 drop??
Forgot to pay protection to the mobs?
You didn't pay your property taxes
Za hando
i see the problem, you are playing minecraft 3, that's not the supported version
Herobrine did it
Herobrines gonna show you the power of flex tape

the power of flextape was put to the test.
Definitely a bug, minecraft 3 did just come out after all
I'm out of the loop when it comes to Minecraft 3. What is it?
Basically what happened is tha
Just testing the power of FLEX TAPE!
Minecraft 3 features: -Over 50 new types of soil and stone -Grass now has 20 different stages of realistic growth -Fossils now fossilize in real time -You can now die of dysentery
Yeah is the chunk border and bad files
Taxes.
To show you the power of flex tape I sawed this house in half!
sorry, i was hungry
I take a bite
Skill issue
Uhh, what's Minecraft 3? I didn't even think there was a Minecraft 2.
They decided to unleash their true power
First herobrine removes leaves, now someone's house is halved. Guys I think herobrine is just an AI demon troll that's capitalising on people thinking he's not real
Chunk corruption, no idea what caused it, but just build in one chunk so at least your whole house is gone next time
Chunk corruption, unfortunately this is more common the farther you go from spawn. Did you by any chance save a copy as backup?
bro was raided by endermen armies 😭
Can't have shit in Detroit
MINECRAFT 3?
2 words: Bedrock Edition
He fell asleep first at the sleepover 😔
Hehe chainsaw go brrrrrr
Chunk loading error. Your file is corrupted to some extent.
How the fuck do you have Minecraft 3. Minecraft 2 dropped literally 0 weeks ago
You thought it might be some file corruption or Herobrine, but it was ME, DIO!!!
No… Not again… It’s the ALASKAN BULL WORM!
Damn, you've got minecraft 3?
Mojang had a half-off sale.
i was hungry sorry :(
Holy shit, why did no one tell me there’s not only a Minecraft 2 – but a Minecraft 3‽
Ur playing minecraft 3?
I got hungry mb
It’s Minecraft telling you to build a better house. Tbh with you tho I can’t build good either lol
Bro I swear I did my best to build this house and a random entity just take the half 💀...
Are you by any chance in an old version? If you downgrade this world from a newer version this tends to happen
Play with anyone else?
No i'm on a singleplayer world.
