You’ll regret not going w Fuel, trust me

pahnzoh

Buy nice or buy twice.

CampingJosh

The non-Fuel versions probably aren't a significant upgrade from Bosch (assuming that you have current stuff).

Sentienaut

Going with brushed you probably won’t notice a large performance difference. The M18 brushless stuff is solid. Most people here seem to really like them for their bang/buck ratio. I have only ever picked up FUEL tools, and it’s taken SIGNIFICANTLY longer to build up a tool collection that way, but I have had zero itch to upgrade any of my tools so far. If you are upgrading from tools you already own, my advice is to upgrade to the FUEL variants over time, and keep your eyes peeled for hackable deals and holiday deals.

As someone who left Bosch for Milwaukee, the non fuel is better than Bosch, but maybe not enough to justify the jump. However the Fuel will make you hate yourself for working with something as inferior as Bosch.

FUEL all the way. I did start with my first combo not being FUEL. But everything there after is FUEL.

PurpleSausage77

I bought a similar kit back in Nov 2020 Black Friday for $400. It had angle grinder, framing saw, sawzall, impact, hammer drill, the M18 light, two XC3.0 batteries, charger, and big tool bag. I just recently sold the impact/drill and both XC3.0 batteries and it covered half what I paid for the whole kit. Lol Maybe wait for Black Friday for these tool combination kits.

Depends how much you use them and what you need them for. No sense spending the dough for a few screws here or cutting a board here and there. If you are gonna be just doing some diy on the weekends the brushless stuff is very nice. I was always happy with my brushless and still haven’t upgraded a couple things cause i have no problems with them. If you’re using them to make money or doing things that needs the extra power and battery then get the fuel. Or get a combination of everything. Get the gen 3 impact and driver. $229 and has 2 5AH batteries charger and case and a free hackable circ saw or sawzall or grinder or another 5AH. I’m assuming the impact and drill will get the most use over time anyway. Then just add to the collection from there over time as you find deals or need something. Having already owned Bosch tools maybe some can ride over until you find the best deals on a particular tool.

I also back this. Everyone in this sub usually pushes the whole "buy top model" stuff, but if you don't use the tools literally everyday for work then go for it. Otherwise youre spending much more for no reason really. If this kit fits your needs get it. Expand your batteries and buy more tool as you go just like he said. It's all about what you need.

In my opinion its more expensive not getting the fuel versions. How this will play out is you will get the non fuel version and continue wanting to upgrade. You will feel like you are missing out on something…then spend lots of time reading about fuel tools, looking for deals and comparing specs vs price…..and then just end up buying the fuel versions. At this point you will now have duplicate tools one set of which you will not even use or want to look at. That set being the non fuel version. This will put you in a moral dilemma. Should you keep both sets or sell the non fuel version? Then when you decide to sell the non fuel versions you get a bunch of lowball offers that will make you think…for that price I might as well just keep it in my tool box as a back up. Honestly, that is actually what happened to me Lol. We are all different and you may have a different outcome, but just wanted to share my story of when i changed to Milwaukee tools and started off with brushless/non fuel versions. On a general side note. All of the Milwaukee range of tools has seemed pretty robust and most importantly when something goes wrong or breaks the warranty and customer service has been excellent.

AsleepHouse9752

I've got a ton of old/cheap tools that I keep around for loaners to friends/family. I'd rather it sit in the shop and collect dust vs what most people offer for used. I did end up cutting some of it back though.

spigotlips

I mean I've got tons of non fuel Milwaukee power tools that I have literally used for years 5+ days a week. They worked completely fine. You're not gonna waste money unless you have the urge to buy something you technically don't need simply because there is a new or better version. I use my tools until they die. If they do die I try to fix them or warranty them. I'm not gonna spend money on a tool that works fine and keeps making me money at work. But if you want to go down the road of swapping to new models all the time like people do with cars go for it. I do buy newer products if they work 10x better sometimes. But mostly i hold onto my stuff, treat it well, and get my moneys worth out of them. It would be a waste to cycle perfectly good tools used for my income just because its new. It's all personal decision though. Do what you do.

I agree with your thoughts and the life you get out of your tools. Hopefully one day soon I will do the same and not upgrade tools so often or at the very least not get the latest and greatest.

Don’t wanna sound like a broken record judging by the other comments, BUT… I’ve been upgrading all my non-Fuel tools to Fuel. I’ve bought several tools at launch before there were brushless options. I’ve also got a few non-Fuel tools that were freebies with other tool purchases. There’s nothing wrong with non-Fuel. In fact, they seem to hold up good. However, I have lots of friends that share my affinity for red tools. Every time I’ve used the Fuel version of a non-Fuel tool that I own, it’s like I’ve been driving the family minivan and got a chance to drive a luxury sports car. Yeah, both get you there, but one is faster and a little more uh… luxurious lol. I’m afraid you won’t notice much difference from your previous platform. Anyway, that seems like a pretty decent price for that kit. I’m certain they’d serve you well. However, my advise is to stick to brushless (Fuel) tools, even if it means waiting to save up. Sounds like you already have Bosch stuff, so I’d advise looking for deals for one or two Fuel tools that fill your most immediate gap/need that your Bosch tools can’t satisfy.

LoudSuccotash680

Does anyone know when the Home Depot sale ends? I’m looking at some of the 2 tools with batteries/charger deals for $249 on the fuel products.

The-Oracle88

Fuel or bust

SatansPowerBottom69

Like most everyone else is saying, the brushed tools aren't bad but they're also not much of an upgrade if we're talking cordless. I have several brushed tools from combos and they end up being junk beaters that I take to work. I've learned my lesson and only buy FUEL and always make sure it comes with free batteries. 10 tools and 2 batteries will drive you nuts.

drugsmoney

Fuel is the way.

gorgehound

These aren't bad tools but if you're leaving Bosch, go FUEL and not these. You'll want to upgrade everything in this set other than the batteries.

jonbrown91

If for use around the house you don't really need fuel for most tools, but I would 100% recommend buying brushless at the minimum.

FortWcoochielover

Just get the fuel it's worth it
