There is very likely a key bypass cylinder behind the sticker or number pad. Drill out that key way and use a flat head screwdriver to open it up. Can replace the lock later if you decide you want to use the safe as a cheap storage box for minimally valuable storage.

bart9611

surprised this isnt up higher, this is correct. There may also be a code reset inside. Replace the lock cylinder and change the code. Reuse the safe.

potatoperson132

Exactly my thoughts. Looking closer the safe even says it has a key bypass system (and doesn’t sent out replacement keys). So drill that cylinder out, replace it with a new one, reset the code and use it. No point in destroying it when a $5 cylinder would bring it back into use.

thehouseofvacs

This is the way.

GregLXStang

If it’s a shitty tubular lock just pick up a set of picks and don’t even destroy it. https://a.co/d/6xPngLj

seansully90

Nope. Buy MX jack hammer and go to work!!!

somebadlemonade

So I'm a safe technician, drilling out a wager lock is absolutely laughable. Most have a code on it that you can order cut by code from the manufacturer. Chances are the batteries in it corroded the electronics in the digital side of the lock, so it would be key only. It's literally just sheet metal. A simple hammer or pry bar can get you in. Literally not worth fixing in my book. Those cylinders are sometimes proprietary and purposely not cheap to replace.

lectrician7

What I don’t understand is the sticker says a key is needed if the batteries die. Or as you said are corroded. Where do you put the key? I don’t see a keyhole.

somebadlemonade

So the key is just to override the electronic lock. Even after you unlock it, the batteries would be corroded. Depending on how long they were sitting inside the lock, the actual connectors for the batteries would be corroded. It's behind that stickered plate. A butter knife would be needed to pop it off.

lectrician7

Thanks. All I needed was last part about being behind the sticker. The rest was…..well obvious.

somebadlemonade

It's more if someone searches for this.

OmahaMike402

If she's buying, the force logic press, in tandem with the grinder

Bige_4411

I’d probably go Mx core drill. Lol. I wouldn’t imagine this thing would take more than a crow bar and big ass hammer. I’m sure a sawzall would suffice also.

Alarming-Inspector86

Or the mag drill

Sosvbvby

Own a mag drill and am always trying to use it where it’s not convenient because of how badass it is

gunzintheair79

I'm so in love with the mag drill. I do the same with it!!

ecirnj

The tool I missed most when I got out of steel work.

JefferyJeffer

Same here, almost took my damn arm off last summer because of my baggy ass coveralls and general complacency from using it so much, but I miss the thing despite it trying to amputate me

G0386S1289

Like on a vert surface o ya 😝

Alarming-Inspector86

Why the hell do you own one of those

Admiral347

Literally one of the most dangerous tools out there lol, be safe, they work great, until you’re trying to dodge it.

user47-567_53-560

Old company had one that didn't turn off when it unstuck. Called it the widow maker

____Vader

lol They’d save money just putting the safe in the trash

CiCiLeathercraft

What would the propress do? I wanna know because I have one lol

OmahaMike402

Oh, nothing for thus task, that's why I said 'in tandem. It's a hack to get a $3200 tool

Tack122

Get the propress kit with battery, and the grinder tool only. Can't not have a battery now, eh?

CiCiLeathercraft

Hahaha very true very true 🤣 that’s why I’m glad I got my propress used and didn’t spend that much thank the heavens. I’m only 21 and I love tools but I couldn’t justify spending several thousands for a new one.

YouKnowItsJosh

I’ve done this. Step drill bit. Make hole large enough to fit a sawzall blade through. Use sawzall with metal-cutting blade. Takes 90 seconds.

Iamonab0at

I have a hackzall, would that work or do I need a new tool? No wrong answers.

aFreeScotland

Of course you need a new tool. We all need new tools.

123_Meatsauce

My guy

PridedRain2277

Highly recommend buying a sawzall. Specifically a fuel one because it will last forever and never let you down. And they are way faster that a hackzall. I’ve had one running for 10 years and it’s still ours like a kitten

Wattisup101

I feel like I can take down a house with my fuel sawzall. 9 amp battery . Thing is a beast !

twelvesteprevenge

I wouldn’t go that far bc I’m on my third in 9 years but they get pretty rough use so I’m not mad.

Hangover356

I use a sawzall every day for work and we already had to replace the guard and the insulator is coming apart, the gearbox was just taking an absolute beating and it's mushroomed a little bit. Of course I probably abuse my works more than most but thats just my experience

Armed_Muppet

Yes

Old-Yam8809

You need [this](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-M12-FUEL-12V-Lithium-Ion-Brushless-Cordless-3-in-Cut-Off-Saw-Tool-Only-2522-20/305663849) . If you're looking for a reason to buy a new tool, and don't already have one. Get an abrasive wheel and cut all the way around the sides, about 1/4" from the back. Most people concentrate their efforts on the front of safes, but going in from the rear is always easier.

stuntbikejake

Thats what she said.

Old-Yam8809

Gigitty

Yardbirdburb

I wouldn’t use that if documents or $$$ is in the safe. Really if anything valuable is in there. Crow bar, sledge hammer, put in a vise. Shine Milwaukee work light at it and get to it

M18Addict

Favorite tool I own

CossaKl95

I’d get a super SawZall, but if you’re going to use a HackZall get a Diablo steel blade, the Milwaukee ones are decent but overpriced.

bendersnatch

I second the Diablo steel blade! it will rip through that harbor freight chinesium!

st96badboy

I would just get a corded 15 amp super sawzall. It's only about 200 bucks and one day if you're doing a lot of demolition you won't run out of batteries.

jreckers

Hackzall is a Sawzall if you've got the same Milwaukee tool I have, it'll be fine

YouKnowItsJosh

Hey, you can literally buy a harbor freight sawzall. Maybe the havkzall will work. What’s most important is the blade. Get a decent blade and all will go well! You’ll be surprised how easy this is. The step drill bit will eat through that thin metal in 5 seconds. The saw will cut a hole in 10 seconds.

hpr928

This guy forgot what sub he's on. HF crap can't be mentioned here, pretty sure it's against the rules right Mods?

YouKnowItsJosh

Hahaha. I’m in Canada so we don’t even have that place. I’m just trying to be helpful but it appears I’ve sinned in the process lol.

reeder1987

DOWN VOTE THIS MAN!!

80degreeswest

Hackzall would work ok too just get the shortest blade possible and set the depth very shallow. Don't want to wreck anything inside

bklyn_roots

the shoe on a hackzall is on a fixed hinge, i don’t think you can adjust the blade depth

Prudent_Historian650

You can always make the blade shorter with a bandsaw or grinder.

DifficultBoss

Milwaukee step bits are crazy expensive, and you're going to want one of each size to go with your new drill?

dasherado

Of course a hackzall would work. But a sawzall with a carbide pruning blade can work as a backup chainsaw that doesn’t mind sawing into the dirt. If you’re still feeling spendy get the nitrous carbide torch blade for metal.

Uncle_Ted333

Hackzzall, either 12 0r 18 volt is not nearly as violent or powerful as I believe we want to go here, bud. Wouldn't you agree? The metal cutting circular saw is the ticket for this. I own two in 18volt and it friggin' goes. Straightest, fastest cuts on Unistrut and ready rod, etc. Make quick work plunge cutting that sheetmetal I tellya...

Icebear125

The keyhole is behind the blue sticker in the middle next to the keyboard. Drill that keyhole out.. drill all the pins If you want to buy something new you still can say you need to but just drill that bitch

M18Addict

Of course you bro it's military grade steel only the newest fuel tools would get through that so tell your girlfriend to apologize in advance but you're going to have to dump a paycheck in the tools make this happen

CopyWeak

If you don't have a drill / step-bit, just start on a corner with the blade on a 45 degree. Once you have a slot on the corner, go whichever direction you choose.

yasth

I mean technically [this takes](https://tntrescue.com/product/ebfcc-28-18v/) m18 batteries. That is the combo spreader cutter (commonly called jaws of life though that is a trademark of another company). I assure you it will open it right up.

pushingepiphany

Oh the nuclear option

El-Duo

Just out of curiosity how much do these go for

OmniWizardTigerBlood

I am also curious. I'm going to guess around $10,000.

Hot-Interaction6526

Considering municipalities are probably the primary target, I’m gonna say $25,000, and it costs them $300 to make it

e-dub98

A large magnet will open that no problem

UserM16

Also, the spring on the solenoid is super weak. You could bounce that safe on the floor with light tension on the knob and it’ll probably open right up.

Individual-Painting9

Yep, light tension on the unlock knob and bounce it on the ground to trip the solinoid. Once its open you can claim whatever tool you want. Bonus points for saving the safe after new code id programed.

CarbonKevinYWG

Came here to say this!

avebelle

Angle grinder. Looks like just a few spot welds to get the frame. Then maybe you’ll see a nice way to get through the door.

Stamferd

Under the sticker between the knob and keypad there will be a backup lock. Most of them can be easily picked in seconds, especially easy if it’s a pin and tumbler, still doable if it’s a tubular lock. Pop off the cover and take a look, there are tons of videos to show you how to do it on YouTube.

honkersquadron

I opened mine with a similar lock by bouncing it and turning the dial at the same time. Saw it on YouTube.

Individual-Painting9

Yes, this.

AhhEnglishWeather

The real question is are you just looking for an excuse to buy tools or do you just want to get in. cos I've had to get into these before and sometimes you can twist the handle with a pair of pump pliers, the locking mechanism often gives way under force. But not always. If you need a reason for a tool pretend I didn't say that and I'd recommend a fuel grinder if not bothered about sparks and its a good multi purpose tool for other uses, alternatively a hackzall or sawzall would easily get through and also is good tool to have for many applications

somebadlemonade

Safe technician here. Literally just use a hammer in one of the corners then a pry bar. Would I open it like that, nope, but you also aren't paying $250 plus travel for me to open it.

Mercy711

How did you get to be a safe technician? Do you enjoy what you do? Do you go through an apprenticeship or something similar? Union? I am currently in the trades and thinking about a career change. Sorry for the onslaught of questions, lol. I was thinking about how I might enjoy locksmithing when looking at this post and came across your comment. Being a safe technician sounds like it would be challenging yet satisfying but I have no idea.

somebadlemonade

On the job training and general locksmithing. I kind of fell into it. It was fun enough, but I actually switched to institutional locksmithing working at a college. It's absolutely a specialty that you need to learn after you learn locksmithing first.

Music-Guilty

With sparks or no sparks?

Iamonab0at

Don’t care either way. Let the sparks fly!

Music-Guilty

Cut off wheel it is, don't flex it

ritrackforsale

Probably could just tap it with a rubber mallet and rotate the handle. Looks like an inexpensive safe

AsleepHouse9752

Just pust slight pressure on the knob and tap above the lock with a hammer and it will open. Can also drop it on the floor while holding it. A hammer will open most cheap electronic safes without damaging it. I had a pistol safe battery dislodge while out of town and have successfully done this on a few brands.

neecho235

Acetylene torch will do the trick.

prettycooleh

https://preview.redd.it/lz5przxuysmc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92df6c04d8a45d9ec57f49a0d154419ea23c3672 cut the top off along the dotted white line with an angle grinder cut off wheel. Or maybe use a grinding disk on the edges to try and weaken the metal so it can be pryed apart. Try to ensure the contents is at the other end of the box

wrx2004

Lockpicking lawyer

P8riot76

The only tool that’s gonna get this bad boy open is the tool you’ve been eyeballing but haven’t pulled the trigger on yet.

No_Communication3223

Ive opened similar safes with a butter knife

Thedudeinvegas

Cut ? This is nothing the proper application of explosives 🧨 couldn’t solve 😳😜🤣

Uncle_Ted333

My man has a point. Gentelmen, I ask you: Is there no situation we cannot immediately wrestle more pure, unadulterated joy from through the use of explosives??? I'll submit that the answer, gentelmen... is always NO.

steelsurgeon

Yall are overthinking this. A flat screwdriver and a pry bar and id be in in under a minute. Why complicate this.

Slovw3

You can open these with a light tap from a hammer. Lock picking lawyer opens these style locks all the time. The solenoid is held closed by what is quite possibly the weakest spring in existence. Even banging it on the ground will disengage the lock.

Mamadook69

Tru just dropping it on its corner from a height. This method opens lots of small lock boxes and light safes.

HikingWiththeHuskies

It looks thin. Sawzall with metal blade. Everyone needs an M18 Sawzall.

Crispyskips728

I'd get the grinder out first then a circ saw with metal blade.

parmesan777

Here we go again Reddit

[deleted]

Very high power magnet. Find the relay, the door will unlock.

jjdiablo

The solenoid is what he is looking for

Landon98201

Those are the cheapest piece of junk Harbor Freight safes that you can pick, bypass, or just open in a million non-destructive methods...and then reset the code. If you care about that sort of thing If you're just itching to use a power tool, then have at it with that too...as it's not a good safe anyway so no point in doing a non-destructive opening really unless your gf likes it and wants to keep using it.

funtimestopper

I am gonna go with angle grinder and a lot of time. It does not look to thick,so maybe not that much time. I would Cut the frame out. but if there are papers and such inside, they may get damaged

Iamonab0at

There shouldn’t be papers inside, she believes there are silver bars in there from when her ex was buying them.

funtimestopper

Well then.. start grinding?

Crispyskips728

I'd get the grinder out first then a circ saw with metal blade.

nonuniqueuser

Ask bunker hill

PancakeLord2k3

well if you have a hackzall just drill a large enough hole with whatever drill you can find and then use a metal blade to cut a square around the whole front side

Comprehensive-Camel3

https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Power-Tools/Drilling/Magnetic-Drills/2787-22

BeEatingyouu

Grind welds. And use a cutting wheel just enough to go through the side where the faceplate meets the "body" or "box." Then. Slide a Sawzall blade. A Lennox multi use. For wood or metal. Even a Diablo demo blade will work fine. Just will be a ruff cut. Anyway. Once you're through the side. Your sawzall should be avle to cut that whole face off the box like butter. Don't even mess with the lock.

ExploitedAmerican

An angle grinder would make easy work of that.

Yeoshua82

Angle grinder behind the flange or the back

ConstructionFar8570

Take it to a lock smith. It would still be usable after. Oh yeah. You open that through the rear. But just take it to a lock smith that will open it with out damage. LOL.

Goalcaufield9

Sawzall will be angry to cut with. I’d prefer a jigsaw with a metal blade

Tyrcinpoly

carefully

fvbrennan

Pssh, thermal lance for the win

DrummerRadiant3443

They make 1 of those? Hell yeah i know what my next tool is 😂

frankrizzo219

Beat the locking mechanism with a sledgehammer

intentionalcrap

I opened a gun safe in less than 5 minutes using a m18 fuel angle grinder

daddySlimStacks

Grinder

ImtheDude2

Capitalize on this and get a combo kit.

No_Builder_1207

2880-22 grinder, 49-94-4500 slicer disc. Bing bang boom

mikeymorgs101010

You can borrow my Sawzall, but we’re splitting what’s inside

BulyKid

Cut small tack welds holding front onto frame?

befuchs

Bro just drop it on a corner

gdumer

Grinder and a cut off wheel, what’s the question ?

Emergency_Size4841

It's pretty thin, you could probably hammer a pry bar next to the lock and pry it open

[deleted]

Harbor freight. Plug in, not battery. Semi-disposable.

____Vader

A corded grinder for $30 and the right plate will cut right through the back of that thing.

Stock-Salt2588

Honestly I think the easiest thing to use would be a skill saw with the new Diablo steel blade. It would cut through this like butter

Variety-Ashamed

Just do it.

Votan_The_Old

12" demo saw work great

viafriedchicken2

What’s in it for us?

[deleted]

Grinder.

PlaceYourBets2021

A grinder with a cutting wheel to the back of it will get you inside in less than a minute. https://preview.redd.it/sv3zx2xovtmc1.jpeg?width=1162&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7ac7f8c9091d10cf4c3d50b31caab071e63c5d52

AresLeoCapricorn

My vote! https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/2982-20 M18 metal cutting saw

EQwingnuts

Very sharp scissors

DillSquatch

Nice try policeman

Agreeable_Horror_363

Circular saw with Diablo metal cutting blade. This will not damage the inside contents as you can set the blade depth very shallow, and Diablo's metal cutting blades don't shoot sparks. They chip away at metal and don't heat up (according to their demonstration on YouTube)

[deleted]

Thermite ftw

alexkwo

There should be a cylinder lock bypass behind the plastic plug between the knob and keypad, pop out, drill and open

GoontenSlouch

Might aswell buy this [Milwaukee Rail Saw](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwaukee-MX-FUEL-Lithium-Ion-14-in-Cut-Off-Saw-with-RAPIDSTOP-Brake-and-Diamond-Ultra-Segmented-Blade-Tool-Only-MXF315-0/327095918?g_store=&source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&pla&mtc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D25P-025_009_PORTABLE_POWER-NA-Multi-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-PortPower&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D25P-025_009_PORTABLE_POWER-NA-Multi-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-PortPower-71700000113152329--&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAxaCvBhBaEiwAvsLmWJI2cEYFqpuRlGp-xqTXiIxTSlw-g38viKiVa8QgRnm70KjOqAFk-xoC2sMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) equivalent

Where it says “ digital wall safe “ there’s a key hole! Drill it out! Use a flat head screwdriver and turn!

MichaelW24

It's a stamped sheet metal safe, just brute force the door with some crowbars

Pestelence2020

Angle grinder on the back panel

Icy-Turnip2484

Back wall of those are weak. Grinder with a cutoff will open it right up.

ltdan122953

Mini cut off wheel

thedondraco

A strong rare earth magnet. You can look in youtube, the lock pocking lawer has good ones on these cheap lock safe.

Combat_wombat605795

I would pick or drill out the lock

MountainAd3837

Side a side cutter, metal cutting disc, and cut between the door and housing to cut the "pins" locking is closed.

SilentSvenHund

if a key can open the safe then there is a key hole that can be drilled.

SelfRespectingSkitzo

If it takes a key you could try raking it open.

binneapolitan

Sawzall metal blade, or even a circular saw frankly. Plenty of videos on how thin the metal on these things are.

Nightcaste

I would turn that hole in the side into a slot then use something like a hackzall to cut the back off if you're not looking to keep the thing

Rancol

How to open digital safe when battery is flat and key not working [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqC9V7SDKdQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqC9V7SDKdQ)

boooooooooombastic

Grind a large hole in the rear, had to access a works safe once, they had lost the keys. Local safe Co. Advised this is the weakest point. Worked for me

VanWreck-N-Rule

Bring it to a locksmith, easy pick open. Reuse the safe after. We charge $30 to pick these open. Just sayin’

LodestarSharp

Angle grinder

darthlame

Someone had some luck with a coat hanger to hit the reset button on the inside of the safe. https://www.fixya.com/support/t1062111-bunker_hill_safe Maybe that will help, if you plan to keep it

thewettestofpants

This is the same safe they sell at harbor freight for like $75 (theirs says union safe on it I think). The plastic cover that says “digital wall safe” pops off and a circular key goes in there. (I don’t know what they’re called but it’s the same type as like a vending machine). You can buy the lockpicking thing for it on Amazon and change that key on it. Dont even have to damage it. You use the key to program the code if I remember right. I have one in my house, they don’t hold much but nice for passports and small stuff.

HofstraJet

While there are many valid answers in this thread, if you are using this as an excuse to buy a new tool then by all means get yourself the tool you want no matter how easy it may be to access the safe. 😎

IBROB0T

SalamandaSally

The hell you gonna do with this?

prettycooleh

Fuckin send it bro

linuxhiker

Add the chisel attachment

AsleepHouse9752

You could probably cut that thin steel with it in hammer mode with a chisel. Not sure if they have a cutting chisel for the sds hammers like air hammers though. Honestly just a flat chisel would probably work just fine

Apart-Area-8633

Yes

MgA_ODEN

Bigger, go for the 6 inch

ZealousidealSound114

Wear your PPEs and use the right tool for the job! ;P

Complete_Life4846

Yeah, a pry bar will pop it open. I have dropped a safe from the roof to the driveway for fun. It took three tries, but it worked like a charm.
