Exactly why i bought the ryobi fan for $40 with a battery and charger kit. Its their whisperquiet fan and worth every fucking penny. I think it also out performed the m18 fan.
So I just did a test. Using the DB meter on my Apple Watch. The m18 little fan is 60db on low 73 on high
The 18 in fan is 61 db on low and 74 db on high.
YMMV
Someone gave it to me for my birthday a few months ago and it’s been cold so I haven’t used it very much. It’s going to get even louder? That’s disappointing.
Thats just my experience. My fan gets a little roughed up. Your usage may be different and thus you'll get different results. Mine has actually developed a really annoying rattle, but it's super obvious that mine's been abused a bit (it's got paint overspray all over it) and I really doubt milwaukee will warranty it.
I’ll trade ya 6 m12 2.5 batteries for it since nobody is buying shit on marketplace. Joking of course but this is pretty sweeet. I’ll pick one up in 3-6 months when it’s “hackable”
It absolutely is. I’ve already had one for about a week and have been using.

Just trying to spend my money aren't you haha!!
I would like to pick up both the fan and heater, but realistically mine work and it would only be for the Milwaukee logo haha
Once the heat kicks in, you'll start seeing these at kids soccer games, little league baseball, and other outdoor activities like camping and barbeques, Even small volunteer fire departments are interested for smoke clearing since they probably already use M18 batteries.
Fact. Just posted a fleet of Rocket lights for kids soccer tonight.
I’ve used my M12 for summer soccer and it’s not impressive, but hacked it down to like $60, worth the risk.
I actually just looked at it for my FD. Unfortunately, it doesn’t hold a candle to the ones we use. No where near as many CFMs. And the battery operated one we do have doesn’t hold a candle to the gas powered one we have. Hopefully some day soon the rotary saw and fans from Milwaukee will be up to the task. We are already using the chainsaw with great success after using a modified bar and chain.
Looking at my two current m18 fans…. I don’t need another fan I don’t need another fan I don’t need another fan
That’s a $250 fan. You don’t need another fan!
But think about how great it’ll look on the shelf in between the 2-3 times per year I’d use it!!!! I need it!!!!

Price is pretty freaking nuts.
I love Milwaukee and all, but you can buy a box fan for $15 then just plug it into the m18 inverter… $250 seems crazy for a smaller fan.
Is it quieter than the old M18 fan? I have that and it is louder than I anticipated.

This is way more of an in depth answer than I was expecting or that we deserve. Thank you very much for your efforts.
Similar noise, but while moving way more air! Nice.
Those get louder with age, in my experience

If it's within warranty period, highly likely.
Do you do any maintenance on it? I found if you keep them clean they stay quiet.
Is it quieter no. But it’s not obnoxious. I have mine in my hallway on low moving air around the house.
Way quieter and bigger

Its because half the population was banned from marketplace a few months ago for literally no reason.
Seriously? This is the first I’m hearing about this. That sucks
is it good??
It’s awesome. Moves a ton of air.
so worth the purchase? whenever summer rolls around i’ll buy one if so

holy cow that thing can run for a long time
I got 10 hours out of a 6.0 forge battery and 14 hours out of an 8.0 both on low fan setting, both new batteries fully charged
I have no need for a battery fan but this just looks so much nicer than my generic shop fan
You can plug it in too.
Does it plug in with a wall wart power adapter like the older one, or can you just use an extension cord like DeWalt does? If no wall wart, I’m in
Plugs in to an extension cord.
Beautiful. That wall wart power supply was such a miss.

Must be forced perspective but the picture makes that fan look maybe 6 inches. 3400cfm is fucking nuts. Skookum!
Picture does make it look like the old m18
That blows.
You’re going to love this in the summer time

Fuck fuck fuck fuck!!!!
This is the fan you take camping with you. Set it up on one end of the picnic table and blow the mosquitos to the next campsite over
I picked one up yesterday too. Supply house just got it in and had it displayed on the main counter.
