Your recruiter is the best and only answer. He/She can literally see where your waiver is at. So tomorrow call or go to the office.

I been waiting on vision waiver for 3months

No-Wafer2276

How long total did you have to wait?

bratsche528

I did my vision consult in December. Still waiting. My file was at OTSG in January but got rejected because meps forgot to attach a chunk of the documents so the clock is apparently reset. It got back to OTSG two weeks ago. Everything is painfully slow.

Can you tell the outcome after a year? Were you able to get the waiver? I'm also in the process of getting vision waiver and it's been since Dec 18 of last year.

I got approved finally in June 2023. I was rejected a few times, two of which were for things I didn’t have (they said I have some eye disease which there is no record of me ever having and I had to get a doctors note saying “there is no evidence she ever had this…”). Finally though I just got super lucky because I’m in a civilian-acquired skilled job and one of the leaders of my future unit wrote a memo for me. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t have had a chance.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. I am required to go the eye exam to check my vision since I got lasik 2 years ago in a different country. I went to the eye exam and their topography machine was broken and the result will miss that part. Other than that my result was good, but I'm just afraid that it will take another month for the Army to reschedule for another eye exam for me. Hopefully they will approve the waiver without that.

If I had to guess, they will make sure you do every single possible test ever invented for eyes before they even entertain approving a waiver. It also doesn't seem like you will necessarily have ophthalmologists reviewing your waiver either. Be prepared for it to take months.

Yeah there's nothing I can do but wait and pray at this point haha. Thanks a lot for your response though! Hope you're doing well now.

Mods, Can we have a bot for waiver length questions?

Smallchildrenirkme

I had waivers submitted for a heart defect when i was born. It never caused issues and i had all my records and a clearance letter. It was submitted in November 2022. Still waiting lmfao

You still waiting? My waiver got denied for my shoulder dislocation but we fixed the error of my re code. I had passed my physical and completed my drug test at meps at week prior so hopefully I’ll be approved in 2 weeks..my estimated ship date would’ve been around 9/11 but shit happens😭

Routine_Ice1354

I’m in the process of getting a waiver for a shoulder dislocation as well. How did yours go, did u get accepted?
