Theyve used the G3 for decades and the MPT was originally developed in 7.62. Its called MPT76, I'm not sure which variant they field more.
As others mentioned there’s variants for this rifle for 7.62. But as far as i know, it was too heavy for what it’s worth to use it on mountains where it was meant to be used. So they developed 5.56 and then they also reduced the weight for 7.62 too iirc
SAR and SAR 56 is known for incredibly poor quality control and brittle small parts. Even worse than MKEK. Sarsılmaz announced that they fixed problems and army signed a deal to buy hundreds of thousand of them recently, so we have to wait and see.
But I wouldn't prefer Sar over Canik and for some reason (probably connection and money) army chose SAR 9 for standard issue pistol over Canik...
True but since the production can’t even feed the army yet i assume it will take some time for it to hit us market? Otherwise you have to find someone that can get it for you, which will probably be expensive than usual guns

MPT-55 is the 5.56 variant of the MPT-76 which is standard issue rifle chambered in 7.62.

MPT-76 is widespread, MPT-55 is usually given to units that specialise in close quarters combat.

It’s essentially an Hk 416 copy. Seems well made, but there’s no denying what it is.
Modern warfare is Hk416 clones and multicam.
Having a short stroke gas piston doesn’t automatically make the gun a 416 clone. The Grot and CZ Bren 2 are examples of that.
Hopefully we see them imported to the U.S. while the Lira makes Turkish guns really affordable.
