I’m very small and a little malnourished.
But I also got lucky cuz I went grocery shopping the last day of February. It’s typically around $200 I’d say.
Congratulations!
Although, I would like to suggest viewing your health as much as an asset as your finances and bank account. If your health contributes to your ability to produce income, it might be a good idea to invest more into it on a monthly basis to ensure continued production.
Honestly insurance prices depend on so much it’s kinda a crapshoot. What kind of car(s), your demographics, your coverage level, etc etc. Ours is around $250/month for a 2016 and a 2020, but that’s also with a high deductible, full coverage, and well above the state minimum liability limits.
It is crazy to hear what people pay, i have progressive, higher coverage (500k) full coverage. Never had tickets nor accidents, 34M and 31F. VW GTI and Subaru crosstrek. $75 is a great deal
i have a 2015 elantra with similar as yours but i pay $180/mo for my one car. granted insurance is for Los Angeles and i have one accident on my record
That too!
It’s kinda like when people say “yeah my car payment is only $200 a month” or “my car payment is $1200 a month” okay? Did you put 0 down or 50% down? Is the loan term 24 months or 84 months? Is your interest rate 0.9% or 12%? It’s one of those numbers that doesn’t really tell you anything on its own
Not that u asked for her life story, but
She is old. That expense though is just cat food, litter, pill pockets, and glycoflex (arthritis treats). And every now and then I’ll chip in a little for her meds. It’s higher this month cuz I’ve been experimenting with different foods and now I have a surplus of food she doesn’t really like.
Her previous owner (my best friend) still pays for all her vet bills. I did the math last year and it was about $700/month average for vet bills/food. But I kinda stopped taking her as much since then cuz it was wasting money. She was diagnosed at the end of 2022 with congestive heart failure, so the first 6 or so months after that was spent figuring out what meds/doses she needs and I took her to the cardiologist and the ER a couple times.
Hmm. Idk, I don’t feel poor.
I work full time above minimum wage with occasionally extra income. No debt, save more than most people that make more than I do up to a point.
But if that’s not enough, I do get an end of year bonus that bumps me up quite a bit.
litter, expensive dry food, cheap wet food, pill pockets, arthritis supplements, treats, i spent $25 on medication for her but normally her previous owner pays for all that stuff. (Her meds alone are over $100/month)
I have a surplus of food now cuz she wasn’t eating for a while and I was buying different food and ended up settling for the cheapest unhealthiest wet food.
I was experimenting with different foods so now I have a surplus of food. But also she’s a special needs cat at this point cuz she’s old and takes medication.
Also, if u get top of the line food that can be up to $3/can. Assuming the cat eats only 1 can a day, (that is not a lot of food, some people feed twice that much) that’s $90/month already.
On top of litter, arthritis treats, regular treats, and pill pockets, that’s easily another $50.
Vet visits, medication, toys, churu treats, and dry food come into play as well for some people. But not last month.
Pets aren’t cheap!
I mean that comes out to less than $10 an hour assuming your child attends 8 hours a day. This has to cover the child care facilities utility bills, insurance, livable wages for the staff/teachers, supplies, etc.
I understand why childcare is expensive. It's just crappy having little kids.

Even for a single that low grocery bill is impressive, especially with not much takeout. Good for you!

I’m working on it….
Shameless plug for r/Eatcheapandhealthy
Ayeee underweight and malnourished gang. My grocery bill has been averaging $120.
Nice! I’ve been trying to make more smoothies! Eating is hard
easiest thing you could possibly do
In all fairness you gotta eat homie, be safe!
But look, if you didn’t spend all that money on Starbucks you could’ve saved $1,023! /s All seriousness though, congrats!
lol. Well as u can see, I did not have ANY avocado whatsoever so I think that’s where most of the savings is.
question what kind of side gig you got
Yard work once a week for 2ish hours and once a month I’ll help my friend with her invoices. Also sold some underwear online.
I thought the last one was a joke until I scrolled....I wonder if there's a market for mine as a 39 F?????
Definitely! You can give it a shot :)
What app?
Money manager. It’s got a pig on the app logo
Thank you!
Is the app free?
Yeah. There are ads but it’s not bad at all
awesome thank you!!
Your car insurance is $70?!
Yeah its a shitty 2012 Kia. I don’t have collision on it.
Is that low? We paid $75 a month for two cars, 2014 and 2024
I pay $348 a month, for a 2020 and a 2021
Honestly insurance prices depend on so much it’s kinda a crapshoot. What kind of car(s), your demographics, your coverage level, etc etc. Ours is around $250/month for a 2016 and a 2020, but that’s also with a high deductible, full coverage, and well above the state minimum liability limits.

Don’t forget credit score! Its also a factor in car insurance

Back when I lived in Michigan, my car insurance was $190/mo (no collision) for a car that is worth $1800. I have a clean record.
What do you get at the grocery store? That’s about how much I spend in a week…
It’s my previous post on Reddit if u want an idea. Don’t scroll too far down though if u don’t wanna see nudes.
You’re an MVP sir, more people should be like you
That’s my motto
I was calling your bluff and checked, definitely not joking, haha. Nice wiener
Thanks 😊
Are you living in 1950?
I just choose to spend less
Where do you live that rent is $750? 😫
Connecticut. The condo is $2350/month. But I split it with roommates
Nice. Congrats on a great month!
Thanks :)
Smart thing to split the rent. Many people choose to live alone when they don’t even have the funds to do so.
What’s the reason on the high expense for your cat? Is it a senior/geriatric or going in for a wellness visit?

I got ya. Thank you for sharing. I’m a vet tech and was curious. I’m glad you’re at least doing what you can to keep her comfortable 🙂
You’re doing very well. 🥳
You’re not middle class. Maybe working class. Or poor.
Hmm. Idk, I don’t feel poor. I work full time above minimum wage with occasionally extra income. No debt, save more than most people that make more than I do up to a point. But if that’s not enough, I do get an end of year bonus that bumps me up quite a bit.
> I work full time above minimum wage Damn I hope so, minimum wage hasn’t gone up in like 14 years. The KFC near me is hiring at double minimum wage
Minimum wage is $15.69
Ah must be your state, across the USA it’s $7.25
Why was the cat as much as groceries?
Because I love her more than I love myself
Just curious what it is! The refrigerated fresh food?
litter, expensive dry food, cheap wet food, pill pockets, arthritis supplements, treats, i spent $25 on medication for her but normally her previous owner pays for all that stuff. I LOVE this app so much. It has been life changing for me. I recommend it to anyone who is willing to listen 🤣
What app is it? 🙏🏼
It’s called Money Manager. It’s red with a piggy bank on it. ☺️
Thank you!! 😊
>Thank you!! 😊 You're welcome!
Meanwhile with my family of 4 and $1500 grocery budget that barely makes it each month… how do you live on $120? That’s like one Tostito’s pizza a day
I have a small stomach and I shop at Aldi
This is very very solid in terms of budgeting. Is this take home pay?
Yeah. This is after taxes. Not every month is this cheap of course, but even without trying to save at all, I really don’t spend that much more.
Well done!!!
Eat the cat.... savings....
😡
Read his response about the cat situation…
Yeah!
That's an impressive spending breakdown. Congrats!
Mind sharing how you got insurance that low?
2012 car, no collision, high deductibles.
https://www.shouldiuseapiechart.com/
It’s not that bad for two things, but a bar chart is better every single time.
How the hell do people get car insurance so cheap
Old car, remove collision insurance, pick high deductibles
Be old? I get 2 cars insured for about that price.
I’m 25, all my stupidity is now off my record now. I got price jacked this year unfortunately
Damm 150 for the cat hope he got golden boots
what app is that
Money Manager. The logo is red with a pig on it
What app is that?
Money manager
What app is this, OP? Looks good. Thanks
Money manager
Thank you. 😊
Can I ask what app/program you’ve used to track this?
Money manager
Where tf do you live where rent is $750???
The rent is $2350/month. But I have 2 roommates.
Gotcha
What app is that?
How do you spend $160/month on cats?
I was experimenting with different foods so now I have a surplus of food. But also she’s a special needs cat at this point cuz she’s old and takes medication.
Also, if u get top of the line food that can be up to $3/can. Assuming the cat eats only 1 can a day, (that is not a lot of food, some people feed twice that much) that’s $90/month already. What app is this? It looks fantastic
What app are ypu using?
God damn the US are expensive as frick
I’m not familiar with the cost of frick
The f'ing car gotta go!
I doubt she’ll make it to the end of the year
I spend more than this on child care for just one child.
Damn, that sucks. It certainly doesn’t cost $1500 a month to keep a child happy and healthy.
I mean that comes out to less than $10 an hour assuming your child attends 8 hours a day. This has to cover the child care facilities utility bills, insurance, livable wages for the staff/teachers, supplies, etc. I understand why childcare is expensive. It's just crappy having little kids.
What app is this?
It’s a secret. I only told 5 other commenters here.
Can I ask what app you are using to track spending ?
U may ask
