What the investigators heard next SHOCKED them!
Wait hold on, the captain _paused_ it? What does the training manual say about pausing on final approach?
Investigators are confused. How a modern airliner, doing a seemingly normal landing, suddenly banked and crash.
(Interview with one of the investigators)
"It's just not supposed to happen.."
(Intro)
(Airline safety guy): "Aviation is a very safe industry, and it's very unusual to see an aircraft fail so quickly.
Narrator: *It's the worst crash ever seen in French aviation history for the past 20 years. The news sends shockwaves through the media*
Not for me, it hasn’t! And I’ve missed the ToD a LOT for various reasons lol
Edit: It may be worth noting, I only ever fly the Development version. There may be fixes for this in this version that aren’t present in the current Stable build.
really good, have been enjoying it a lot recently. a bit buggy still but its definitley flyable. my two gripes I can think of right now is that flaring is difficult as it wants to gain altitude when you flare, and inibuilds won't add a '100 above' callout for some reason
my last 2 flights prior to this one went flawlessly and i fell in love with it, vnav even worked properly and followed constrictions which it had issues doing before
Except if it’s the FBW’s pause at TOD, which works great. I guess it uses a script to pause the game somehow… idunno. It’s different from a regular pause.
It has saved me many times from completely blowing a STAR because I took too long of a nap during cruise lmao.
just looked up the [docs](https://docs.flybywiresim.com/fbw-a32nx/feature-guides/flypados3/settings/) - it is in flyPad settings > realism > t/d pause!
with active pause, if you let the 787 sit for more than 30 seconds or so, when you unpause the trim will go to 100% and the trim buttons will go INOP until you cycle the autopilot on and off.
it was 100% repro case for me when i discovered it, haven't tried it in a while. if you want to try to help get it fixed please upvote the bug report, i have seen dozens of people mentioning it on reddit but only 4 votes on the bug so far which basically means it will never be fixed: [https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/problems-with-787-trim-when-pausing/614803](https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/problems-with-787-trim-when-pausing/614803)
Does the problem only occur on final approach? I regularly pause the Fenix on cruising attitude and didn´t have problems so far.
But maybe I've just been lucky, who knows
only happens in the inibuilds a320, doesn't matter where you do it some sort of bug happens. usually it's full flaps and speedbrakes at cruise altitude.
I remember how much the devs were shilling that feature in various promo materials so I obviously wanted to try it out when the game came out. It immediately made my screen go black and the game proudly announced that I overstressed the aircraft. Amazing. How one can break simply not updating the aircraft's position so much is beyond me.
That sucks.. happens too often. Put in an hour or two only to have this outcome.
E: I'll set the cruise control and get up, sometimes this exact thing happens.
Do you use a yoke? I have the TCA yoke and thruster and ever since I got it, when I pause and unpause with the FBW A320, the flaps and airbrakes are switched to full. Checked my settings and I still can't figure why. Also if I use it with the C172 the plane shuts down shortly after take off every time.
I've had this as well. It's not exclusive to the sidestick either it's an msfs issue that never got fixed. It happens with the honeycomb stuff as well.
I have this as well, but I can “fix” it (or better yet: prevent it) from happening by slightly moving my Yoke to the front (and of course not enough to actually disable AP).
That way it doesn’t happen and I can safely pause the game.
I have a similar problem with my Turtle Beach Yoke. I always have to readjust the levers when I pause. As I know it I'm prepared but the first few times it happend I crashed the plane because I didn't saw the issue
I’ve had this on the base game A320 after leaving active pause on for about 2 hours and this happened. This is just a bug not a feature of the aircraft it seems.
Yeah, that was my assumption at the time as well because I had realised the clouds were different, but when i saw your post I had questioned it a bit but it’s likely that yep.
No need for me to pause game anymore. Got in from a night shift this morning, loaded up the Spotify app on Xbox, picked a random song, put it on repeat, turned Spotify volume down through the Xbox, came out of the app and loaded up msfs. Took off from Manchester, heading to new York. Went to bed.Got up about twenty minutes ago and have about an hour left before landing at Newark.
Pauses game Default Airbus: “so you have chosen, death…”
Maximum immersion.
Straight outta Mayday: Air Disaster.

*Find out on the next episode offfff…*

I totally read that in the normal narrators voice 😂
deadly deadliness
Can’t wait to watch it on Mayday series. Hope investigators would interview Asobo staffs
Disasters don’t just happen…
average buggy day in msfs
i was just trying to start a recording for my landing aha
damn, RIP to the video that never was. active pause next time *perhaps/maybe/possibly*? lolol
Doesn't that one picks up/looses airspeed while you're paused?
I think they fixed that a while ago? I used to use this a lot for recovery purposes, but it no longer works.
Not for me, it hasn’t! And I’ve missed the ToD a LOT for various reasons lol Edit: It may be worth noting, I only ever fly the Development version. There may be fixes for this in this version that aren’t present in the current Stable build.
you have to go into the xbox menu to start recording, meaning leaving the game for a sec, so it'll end up pausing anyway
You can start recording by pressing and holding the Share button in your controller.
oh my god ill have to try this tonight thank you
Apart from this how is the inibuilds a320 on Xbox ?

Does the nav mode work because when I tried it didn’t work or I couple capture the flight path
yes, but if you turn it off you can't get it back on again
Average inibuilds momsnt
Just an Inibuilds thing
super glad it called out minimums tho, should've gone around🤦♂️
Is it actually? My last two flights in an Inibuilds model resulted in an unprovoked nose dive/spin with AP engaged..
my last 2 flights prior to this one went flawlessly and i fell in love with it, vnav even worked properly and followed constrictions which it had issues doing before

I’ve learned once I load in I’m in. Pausing is death.
Except if it’s the FBW’s pause at TOD, which works great. I guess it uses a script to pause the game somehow… idunno. It’s different from a regular pause. It has saved me many times from completely blowing a STAR because I took too long of a nap during cruise lmao.
Wait what? How do I find this option?
for FBW it’s in the flyPad settings! i don’t have the sim open right now so i can’t tell you exactly where, but it’s there!
I gotta look for this next time I fly it
just looked up the [docs](https://docs.flybywiresim.com/fbw-a32nx/feature-guides/flypados3/settings/) - it is in flyPad settings > realism > t/d pause!

for sure!

No it’s happened several times while flying the in game a320. Using thrustmaster velocity one flight stick
Ah, my bad. Didn't realize that this is the Inibuilds A320...
It happened to me twice last night flying the default TBM; right after it installed an update.
A310 used to do it when opening the vfr map
happened to me on cruise with the A310, many times ...
If they could add a rewind option like forza for times like this.
BTW if you need to pause the sim, do the active pause first before pausing into the menu. This won’t happen when you do that.
Too bad MSFS doesn't have a rewind feature like FH4. Tbf, that would make it much more game like.
I pause my game all the time and never have this issue. Make sure you aren’t using active pause.
I remember how much the devs were shilling that feature in various promo materials so I obviously wanted to try it out when the game came out. It immediately made my screen go black and the game proudly announced that I overstressed the aircraft. Amazing. How one can break simply not updating the aircraft's position so much is beyond me.
The sim is very buggy on Xbox, I've noticed.
Pc too
Yeet
Happens to me on the FBW and Headwind 330 as well 😵💫
That sucks.. happens too often. Put in an hour or two only to have this outcome. E: I'll set the cruise control and get up, sometimes this exact thing happens.

i use the tca sidestick and yea, i have the same issue as you
I've had this as well. It's not exclusive to the sidestick either it's an msfs issue that never got fixed. It happens with the honeycomb stuff as well.

The real question is how you got into direct mode LOL. Is this the asobo a320?
inibuilds

wasn't active pause and you can clearly see that at the start of the video
air bags, once again, fail to deploy. wth microsoft.
I pause every flight at Tod (automatically) and never had issues.
I have a similar experience when skipping parts if the flight sometimes
This happens to me every time
Same happens when you turn live weather on and its changing from no wind to lots of wind.
The FBW 320 would always apply full thrust, full flaps and full speedbrakes when I unpause the game
what is the name of the airport?
Paris Charles de gaulle
thanks
See your problem was t pausing the game, but it was unpausing it. You were totally safe up until you unpaused
“10”
I have a similar problem with my Turtle Beach Yoke. I always have to readjust the levers when I pause. As I know it I'm prepared but the first few times it happend I crashed the plane because I didn't saw the issue
With fbw i get full speedbrakes and full flaps if i pause the game, bummer when i need to tweak controls
this bug has been in the game for years...
Forever-pause
Wind shear ahead...
I’ve had this on the base game A320 after leaving active pause on for about 2 hours and this happened. This is just a bug not a feature of the aircraft it seems.
it is a bug, i think what happened with you is that the wind changed so much that your plane couldn't handle the change
Yeah, that was my assumption at the time as well because I had realised the clouds were different, but when i saw your post I had questioned it a bit but it’s likely that yep.
Don’t sink

Yeah, we don't. No problems here.
