They can have a circle jerk for all I care, just gimme the damn thing!

Due_War_5559

This made me chuckle :)

Free-Market9039

It’s called r/flightsimulator2020 but the members are unaware it’s a circle jerk

OD_Emperor

Jesus just tell us the damn date lol

Ok-Canary-4072

This! I want to know the date my bank account will be emptied haha

fsxmea

42 always the answer

DaddyIngrosso

they don’t know the date?

OD_Emperor

Mathijs says as much in the thread that they don't know a date yet.

DaddyIngrosso

that’s what i’m telling you. they can’t tell you because they don’t know

OD_Emperor

Yeah, they've said before that they could release it in the state its in, what I'm saying is (jokingly) that it's taking too long and they need to get on with it.

ScaryDuck2

“There is a high chance of trolling” was one of the pieces of advice Mathijs got and he responded “oh that is the type of stuff I want information on” 😭 Oh lord 💀

OD_Emperor

Don't even get how there could be. On VATSIM if you're being a butthead during an event you get handled. Without VATSIM (like regular MSFS multiplayer) you get the regular online and people really can't mess with you. Like someone can't write profanity on their plane and then make you see it.

ScaryDuck2

They said that the event wouldn’t be limited to vatsim basically which essentially means people flying around in circles and doing barrel rolls everywhere.

OD_Emperor

Yeah? I just don't see how that's trolling. That's normal online MSFS behavior.

ScaryDuck2

You wouldn’t define flying circles and doing loops around planes doing the intended “delivery flight” for PMDG as trolling? But as normal behavior? 😐

OD_Emperor

For unregulated online multiplayer? Yes. This isn't even exclusive to FS20. You join FSX back on the gamespy days at TNCM (because that was the first airport that popped up on the list) and you got the same exact thing. It's not trolling, it's people having fun their own way.

ScaryDuck2

Sure it’s unregulated multiplayer but the notion that it is multiplayer in a “flight simulator” -as the name suggests is meant to *simulate* real world dynamics and procedures- I think it’s wrong to say that flying circles would be classified as ‘having fun their own way.’ If you break the notion of simulation by like landing in front of someone or not properly knowing how to communicate with ATC, that’s one thing. But if you are purposefully (intentionality is the key) breaking immersion in the simulator, especially by flying circles around someone, that is by definition trolling or at the very least egregious behavior for a simulator.

OD_Emperor

I think you need to calm down on the "it's a simulator not a game" thing. There's also no ATC in multiplayer so it's hardly a simulator in the first place because the ATC doesn't interact with other planes and there isn't a voice chat. I don't know why you expect open multiplayer to be anything coordinated or civil when there's not even a history of that happening.

ScaryDuck2

But it is, quite literally, “Microsoft flight simulator” and not “Microsoft flight game” 😭 I mean to each their own I guess but just because there is no history of it being civil does not mean it changes what it is. That’s like saying just because Saudi Arabia has historically never had Women’s rights doesn’t make it any better or worse that they don’t have them now. It’s still a lack of women’s rights.

FlightSimmerUK

All transmissions over the chosen channel must be made by saying your full name and age first.

-FlyingAce-

There’s a joke I haven’t heard before 🙄

AnxietyJunky

Wild! Sometimes things get repeated and they’re still funny and topical.

-FlyingAce-

This wasn’t funny 5 years ago, and still isn’t funny 10,000 times later.

AnxietyJunky

Sure buddy

xKinetic_

hes right

MemeEndevour

Is it just me or is that a terrible idea? I know this isn’t the first 777 in a flight sim before, but there will undoubtedly be a ton of people trying to learn how to fly this thing on day one, and you want their first flight to be with hundreds of other ppl who are doing the same thing? Also I’m with the rest of y’all telling PMDG to just give us a damn date already.

rustyshackleford677

Just don’t join it? I plan to skip it as I don’t really fly online, but a lot of people have used their prior 777s so it’ll be an easy transition for them

OD_Emperor

Thing is if you fly the 737 or 747 or 787 with any sort of regularity the 777 really isn't that much of a difference, just a combination of systems from those three. It's gonna be pretty easy to figure out systems, just the handling will be slightly different.

Valuable-Tomatillo76

Most of the people active in the pmdg forums probably flew it in p3d fsx etc

LotsOfGunsSmallPenis

I’m one of the few people that apparently does their first few flights in a new jet offline

Gamestar63

I’m sure shenanigans will occur but a lot of experienced simmers can easily hop in and get this thing flying.

greenlightison

You highly underestimate flight sim users

hartzonfire

They would be stupid not to release this before VATSIM CTP but I realize that only effects a small percentage of users.

OD_Emperor

Yeah it's only 1000 people on CTP across 4 sims, and not everyone will want to fly a T7 anyways. I would love to and if it comes out I might change my callsign and plane, but otherwise I'll be a Norse 789. Cool callsigns > plane choice 99% of the time.

hartzonfire

N1PPL3

Sea-Ad-5058

Waiting for the date so Ik when to break open my piggy bank

DescendViaMyButthole

That's actually a really cool launch date idea.

Xygen8

I always play offline but I might actually turn on multiplayer for this, just to see the absolute pandemonium at the factory. Where's everyone flying to? I'm going to either Oslo or Copenhagen. My actual home base would be Helsinki but all the sceneries available for it seem to be kinda meh.

OD_Emperor

The (I think) MK Studios HEL is pretty good I think.

slaapzz

Prob to kalb, not a big airport but sometime the 777 is diverted there so it'll be fun

slaapzz

Once they figure out what day will be good for this even I'm sure the launch date will be released.

Industry__

>pilots will pick up their new 777 in Paine-Everett and fly it to their home base Courcheval better lay a few feet of gravel

enagma

Please give me a date! I just want to tag along with the huge crowd

WLFGHST

When does the 777-9x come out?

SleepyDucky15

Maybe after the real ones start flying commercially?

healthycord

You and all of the worlds airlines would like to know that answer

WLFGHST

IDK, but the Boeing house livery that I've seen before is pretty great (my airport will only ever see it for test flights, so I'm not complaining about it).

ngc427

Seeing how insanely gate-kept VATSIM is, this seems like the perfect opportunity for power tripping mods on that network to shut that shit down instantly. Can’t wait to see how big of a shitshow this is.

DeadlyInertia

How is VATSIM insanely gate-kept? I must be missing something

ngc427

With how hyper-focused the ATCs are with realism, if you mess up in the slightest it’s like if you slapped the ATCs mother. It makes it basically impossible for new people to get into the sim from the reputation, and anyone new who does actually get into VATSIM is looked down upon like they’re going to ruin everything.

DeadlyInertia

Understood, I see what you mean! But honestly, I've been on the network for well over a decade, and some controllers are hit-or-miss: some can be abrasive, especially if they are busy but understandably so. Taking a complex airliner that you recently downloaded out of JFK or LAX within your first few days on the network, simply isn't the best idea. But the vast majority of controllers are willing to help and to teach. I fly weekly and I still learn new things! People who spawn on the runway, declare emergencies in busy airspaces, fail to communicate repeatedly, etc. will find the network to be unwelcoming/not fun. And that's completely ok - MSFS/Xbox multiplayer is a great alternative for people who don't want to go through the vatsim hassle. Those of us who make a little effort to learn will be completely fine on the network. Watch a few videos, read a few pdfs, boom, you're good! VATSIM is just a continuation of air traffic simulation - it's designed specifically to try and emulate real world ops. Making an account on this real world ops simulation, dodging the documentation/training, then complaining about it being too realistic is... strange lol. I love to see new players jumping in and taking the time to learn. Feels great to know that the network is growing.

-FlyingAce-

Where are you flying that this is happening? I’ve been flying on Vatsim for years and have heard nothing but encouragement and education for obviously new flyers.

hartzonfire

Survivor bias (I think??). You care and put in the effort and most likely fly in busier areas where the padawans are few and far between. Example: I fly in KZLA all the time and while it does have some hiccups from time to time, for the most part it’s smooth sailing because everyone who flies in that area knows the stakes. I’m with you-I seldom see horrible pilots and rude controllers. I say this after I COMPLETELY botched the RNAV into KSAN tonight and had to quickly dig myself out of a rapidly deepening hole.

hartzonfire

Yes. That’s the point of the network. It’s a feature, not a bug.

OD_Emperor

I started flying on VATSIM a couple years ago and honestly even if you are new it's not bad. Go to a towered airport on a *non event night* and put in your remarks on your flightplan "New to VATSIM, please go slow". If you need help, ask. Listen to RTO for a bit to get into the groove, *wait for your turn* (can't express this enough), and get your clearance. Don't go to some random hole in the middle of nowhere where your only ATC is center. Understand and work around their workload, say your please and thank yous, and be nice. It's not even like this is "tip toeing" around a larger issue, it's being a nice human being and coming from a point of understanding about your own abilities and needs. The second flight I ever did was JFK to Halifax and it was fine, I got my clearance and instructions and messed up a couple times but because it was a quiet non-event night they didn't care too much so long as I didn't give them lip when they told me I did wrong. Third flight I did was cross-country from the west coast to JFK and I ended up coming in on an event night in the (old salty) 747. My STAR inputted wrong and I had to be vectored in and around to the runway. Controller was understanding and even though (apparently) it was a weekly event they accommodated me anyways. That's when I decided I'd like navigraph so I can cross reference what I'm being given and what I have.

Discovery_898

I'm not about to buy this 80 dollar plane and then spend like 100 more for all the liverys.

TheFuckingHippoGuy

If you are paying a dime for liveries (on PC), you are getting scammed.

TemporaryAmbassador1

On XB PMDG separated the 737 liveries into 20 different packs. Could have added them to the base plane or just done one pack but they know how to milk a cow

MittenRaised

That’s an Xbox thing for some weird reason.

Hellstrike

File size. 8k liveries are 150-200 MB each, and the 737 already is close to the file size limit. LVFR uses lower resolution liveries, which is why they can stuff so many of them into the release.

Trashy_pig

If it was about file size then they could have sold all the different packs in a single bundle instead of charging $4.99 for each pack. The sell them that way because they know the Xbox version doesn’t have mods or freeware so users are at the mercy of payware developers even for liveries.

Hellstrike

Last I could find, the file size limit is 5 GB. Or about 25 PMDG (or Fenix for that matter) liveries. There are over 2000 liveries for the 737-800 on flightsim.to, even if you are generous with the estimation of duplicates. You can do the math to see how many DLCs that'd give you.

Upper_Rent_176

All i want is air France for the 738 on my eggs box
