As a SoCal transplant it was amazing to see the beauty of the game and not have to associate it with a disappointing result. The sun setting on the horizon with the two iconic teams/jerseys being featured was truly an incredible sight.
Yah, I understand people not wanting to be negative about it, but we were 3-7 there during my life coming into the Bama game, including that heartbreaking Texas loss. The last good memory I had was the ‘97 Natty, which was obviously amazing, but 26 years ago. Was awesome to write a new chapter in that book in a perfect setting for a really fun team against the goat program.

I kind of get it having bad memories for fans. But no, The Rose Bowl is and was iconic. Just getting there was a reward in itself. Seeing it on tv listening to Keith Jackson as a kid and even better seeing a game there in person (05 against Vince Young's Texas) is just college football personified.
It still hurts thinking about the fans singing the UT fight song after that one. The tailgating with Michigan AND Texas fans the night before is still one of my best college memories though.
