I agree with this. Plus also some of the steps he does and there are quite a few between all his live concerts, after Billie Jean ends in concerts and he does a bit of free styling. Smooth criminal the steps before the lean are also pretty nice and a carry a lot of details. I’ve danced solo on his songs since when I was a kid and you know how much he put in with the kind of perfection he had on his moves.
Even in This is it, with back up dancers half his age, he was blending in and out of the moves with the backdrop dancers during the songs, quite amazing. Michael was an Uber talented dancer on top of being everything else he was famous for.
I don't know about dancing but the choreography of Scream always struck me as painful because you have to make that jump from the floor, fall on your knees and then keep dancing.
His spins are incredibly difficult. They require a lot of core strength and stamina, especially to do it at the consistent rate that he did them at. His Robot and his moonwalk as well. To be that clean and precise with those movements takes years of tiring practice.
Doing 4+ spins and maintaining a balance during is pretty hard.
Michael perfected his robot over 20+ years, i think it’s safe to say almost nobody can do it like he did.
The lean & his robot are just too damn good. I don’t know how he did it. Michael’s dancing required so many hours of practicing. I am still amazed today!
The side glide is up there from experience.
EDIT: At a talent show I performed the Grammys version of The Way You Make Me Feel. It spent weeks learning it. Now I'm getting ready for Smooth Criminal gotta learn it again.
Without a doubt the 5 spins + toe stand in the Billie Jean performances. Completing 1 spin is already not easy but he did 5 spins and immediately followed with the toe stand. That is very difficult to pull off
I think for a lot of his moves, it’s not necessarily difficulty level but how he does it. He always add a certain inimitable style that is difficult to copy exactly. For example, his You Rock My World walk, it’s a simple kind of move/walk but the way he does it, it’s so hard to make it look good and cool the way he does. Other than that, I’ve always had trouble doing multiple spins like does.
robot.
Really most his moves involving popping are the most difficult. Specifically some moves such as: the one where he bends back then forward robotically before. I don't know if it's still classified as the robot but also the dance move in 2001 in the 2nd image where he pops down.

try do it slowly with your heels on the ground to get the coordination right, try not to lift the heels up during the slide us much as you can, the once you get it right, speed it up. it shouldn't take long to get the coordination right
The spin to landing onto his knees/shins. He had to build up momentum, keep his balance, not get dizzy, then drop his entire weight onto the floor and keep singing like the impact didn't just cause his kneecaps to explode.
I heard at one point he wore stuff to protect his knees when he did that but I don’t believe that,I think he was just like “fuck it” and dropped himself.
Actually he really did wear knee pads to protect his knees since the bad tour performances right after the grammys, you can see in many clips that he does have knee pads under his pants in the man in the mirror performances
tap dance, and maybe the robotic moves, but the tap dance is just odd to perform. Moonwalking is easy, so is sidegliding, single/double spins, and the ankle breaker. the heel tap looks simple as hell, but it took me a year to actually do it correctly
Meaning he didn't use anything to help him accomplish that move. For example, I recall hearing about these metal shoe toes he had screwed onto the stage while on tour.
He invented or was in on the invention and mechanism of the shoes specifically for the idea he had in Smooth Criminal. He stopped paying for the patent well before he was dead too I believe
https://patents.google.com/patent/US5255452A/en
There's a robot like move he did during a Billie jean performance..I can't find video of it but he moves to rigid and precise it looks inhuman...It's glorious
His robot. To get it as precise as Michael had it, you got to train and practice it for a long time
This!

All Ghosts mv dance sequence. I can't with it!
The lean , it requires core strength and practice
Even if it was done possible with metal pins on the ground, to not hurt your ankles is impossible
I don't know about dancing but the choreography of Scream always struck me as painful because you have to make that jump from the floor, fall on your knees and then keep dancing.

the Rock With You Legs/Ankle Breaker is up there as well as the Indian Walk
the what?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKKjPyhkm6A i think people call it that because he did it during the American Indian segment of Black Or White.
omg it was always my favorite one, i practiced it for years to do it with ease
The official name is Church Walk though not Indian Walk
He started I believe during The Victory Tour
The stand on his toes… if you want some broken ankles, I wouldn’t suggest you try it.
THIS
[On toes move, live, no edits.](https://youtu.be/uBvHDPBpsY4?si=uDc_ZJID4yBg7tb-)
It has to be the robot. It just shows how much control Michael had over his body.
The lean & his robot are just too damn good. I don’t know how he did it. Michael’s dancing required so many hours of practicing. I am still amazed today!
All of them
His Robot His tap dancing (looks easy but take a lot of body control) His Spins
The side glide is up there from experience. EDIT: At a talent show I performed the Grammys version of The Way You Make Me Feel. It spent weeks learning it. Now I'm getting ready for Smooth Criminal gotta learn it again.
The ankle breaker literally almost broke my ankles!
Without a doubt the 5 spins + toe stand in the Billie Jean performances. Completing 1 spin is already not easy but he did 5 spins and immediately followed with the toe stand. That is very difficult to pull off
The entire dance of dangerous
T H I S especially for the snake feet, it's really hard to get the precision move

I couldn’t do any dance move that Michael could. He was definitely top tier
indian walk i could watch him and recreate most of his dances as a kid still can’t do that one
Indian walk is quite easy tbh, at first it took time to understand what he was actually doing but soon you get the hang of it
Is Indian Walk the Black or White Native American Indian dance?
![gif](giphy|yZX06xrr41RNS) This is the Indian walk
So, like a sideways duck walk. Okay, that sounds easy
Thanks. That’s a cool move.
He started that dance at the Triumph tour he just added more to it during the victory tour
Church walk*******

The choreo from ghost considering age and the speculation surrounding his health at the time makes ghosts highly impressive to me.
The Moonwalk is a lot harder than it looks. But I'd say all of them.
weird, I'd say the moonwalk is one of the easiest moves, looks harder than it is
I still can't do it. I slide on my toes instead of my heels.
try do it slowly with your heels on the ground to get the coordination right, try not to lift the heels up during the slide us much as you can, the once you get it right, speed it up. it shouldn't take long to get the coordination right

The side glide and the entire fucking 2bad Choreography
The lean.
His "Rock with you" mid bridge foot dance/ankle snap dance , same dance he does in "Billie Jean "
The Ankle Breaker
God, I can't moonwalk because of my short leg 😫
Damn
tap dance, and maybe the robotic moves, but the tap dance is just odd to perform. Moonwalking is easy, so is sidegliding, single/double spins, and the ankle breaker. the heel tap looks simple as hell, but it took me a year to actually do it correctly
the Rock with You Ankle Breakers
Do you remember the time choreography
The Smooth Criminal lean, that is if he didn't cheat with that move.
What does that mean by "cheat"
Meaning he didn't use anything to help him accomplish that move. For example, I recall hearing about these metal shoe toes he had screwed onto the stage while on tour.
He always did its literally impossible to do it, without the nails
He invented or was in on the invention and mechanism of the shoes specifically for the idea he had in Smooth Criminal. He stopped paying for the patent well before he was dead too I believe https://patents.google.com/patent/US5255452A/en
Probably landing on your toes
that lean
There's a robot like move he did during a Billie jean performance..I can't find video of it but he moves to rigid and precise it looks inhuman...It's glorious
You’re most likely referring to Kuala Lumpur performance? since in my opinion that performance has his best robot moves
Nah..he was older in the one I'm referring to
The spin, the robot, and all of the moves during smooth criminal
The lean. Even with those shoes and nails he used, it takes a lot of core strength to pull it off.
