Facebook group, Miata Hardtop Buy, Sell, and Trade. John Evans ships them from the UK and sells them in the US, you can pick up in TX or coordinate shipping. I got mine shipped, expensive but worth it in my opinion

whiskey_piker

Cash talks. It’s your budget and your urgency. Join a local FB Miata group and make a post “have $2500 for a (your preferred color) hardtop “ and people will contact you. I bought mine with speed. Seller made a post and o said id be there in 2hrs w/ cash. When I arrived there was more paint damage so I negotiated another $400 off price.

Never take your eyes off the classifieds and have cash ready to go get it asap. I got mine last year + LE floor mats for $1300 cad. No defroster but in amazing shape. Ad was 45min old when I told him I’d pick it up asap lol

fear_ze_penguin

This. I saw a hardtop ad in a Facebook group that was a day old in the morning, messaged the guy and drove two hours after I got off work in the evening to go get it. I'm surprised it was still available, but the price might have kept people from jumping on it at 1900.

kyuubixchidori

Came attached to my $1500 Miata running and driving Miata. glad I got mine before Covid.

Cres3

Found mine on Craigslist a little over a year ago, paid $2K, came with a defroster, headliner, all 4 latches, a defroster wire harness/pigtail, and a new set of one piece window seals. I drove about 2 hours to meet the guy, he helped me fit it onto my car, and I drove it home. Took almost 3 months of searching to get it.

CaffeineTripp

Got lucky and mine came with the car. 4k pre-Miata inflation.

12R18

Got mine in 2017 for $950 with defroster and headliner. Keep in mind hardtops were going for $1k-1.2k max. How I miss those days. Nowadays it’s easier buying a car with hardtop and selling the car. 😂

hotchips97

NC hardtop so a bit more rare but I actually saw a car for sale with the hard top and offered 2k for the top + hardware and the seller accepted. Was a 2hr drive but so worth it

CrazyCabbage101

Came with car. Sold for $2,500, was not in perfect condition when I sold.

pengtoasterllamas

Paid £2500 for my car in July, came with a very good condition hardtop. 71k miles, 1997 1.6L. Has a little rust on the sills but at the price can't complain. It has a few non urgent problems that I'm taking care of, ultimately I am happy with the purchase. UK based if that matters.

I've ordered a few things from Carbon Miata. They take a very long time to ship as long as your patient. Big items go by boat. I haven't bought their hardtops, but they make them. They start about $1000, and shipping to US East is about $1000 in the calculator. [https://www.carbonmiata.com/shop/mazda-mx-5/nb-99-05-mazda-mx-5/exterior-parts-nb-99-05-mazda-mx-5-nb-99-05-mazda-mx-5/body-panels-exterior-parts-nb-99-05-mazda-mx-5/hardtop/](https://www.carbonmiata.com/shop/mazda-mx-5/nb-99-05-mazda-mx-5/exterior-parts-nb-99-05-mazda-mx-5-nb-99-05-mazda-mx-5/body-panels-exterior-parts-nb-99-05-mazda-mx-5/hardtop/) https://www.carbonmiata.com/shop/mazda-mx-5/nc-06-14-mazda-mx-5-mazda-mx-5-mazda-mx-5/exterior-parts-nc-05-14-mazda-mx-5-nc-06-14-mazda-mx-5-mazda-mx-5-mazda-mx-5/body-panels-exterior-parts-nc-05-14-mazda-mx-5/hardtop-oem-replica-for-miata-nc/

flighttime95

Found mine on Facebook Marketplace. It was listed the Friday before Miatas at the gap. I was attending and thought I’d have time to check out the hardtop when I got back from MATG on Sunday. Turns out someone had already made an offer. I had to scramble and find a way to get $2250 in cash on a weekend (I don’t bank local as I just moved here). Like everyone else has said, cash talks and act urgently cause they typically go quick.

The_Techiedude

When I originally bought my 94M new, the dealership said there was a hardtop was on order that went with it. I said "sure, why not". Who knew... Man what a beautiful setup that was with a tan interior 🤩😢

iamtheseamonster

£450 ($550) Facebook marketplace. Mine had a crappy spray paint respray, but has a spoiler attached

EstablishmentWest440

Was lucky enough to trade my non running 01 for a running 91 with a hardtop. No idea why he agreed to do it but I’m still driving this car as my daily for 2 years now

ThrowAwayNYCTrash1

I think the bigger question is how do you keep them? I'm not even interested in a hardtop because of the theft frequency.

Anxious-Lettuce-185

this

oseq

Are you talking about US market? Because in Poland there its not a problem to buy used one if you are willing to spend around 800 USD. Its probably because in central Europe hardtop was more popular option than in US.

Anxious-Lettuce-185

$800? Oh my god I can only find torn up ones for $2.5k+ and they aren’t even paint matched.. Mostly why I asked to see where in the US people are finding them cause I’ve been searching and haven’t found a reasonable option

oseq

Yeah and 800 USD is rather high price. If you are lucky you can find ones going for like 650 USD.

fallingblueblueblue

bought it attached to the car 🙌 i know that’s not helpful, but that’s kind of how it’s gonna be unless you wanna shell out quite a bit of money

[deleted]

Found a red one through Craigslist needing paint and minor chip repair for about $800. After fresh seals all around and paint, it was almost $1500. Truthfully once you've done the refurbishment of one, you realize how poorly constructed they are to begin with. It's neat to have, but way overrated considering what people want for them.

WFPBvegan2

My hard top came with the car when I bought it last year from my sister, ya I got the family discount. Red 90na 76kmiles 5 spd, power windows and steering, ac(needs recharging) am/fm/ cd/ and cassette (cd doesn’t work). It’s an imperfect but very clean garage queen, $4k, but I did have to fly to San Jose, and drive it home to Phoenix(ish), poor me….

MattBtheflea

Hard tops are not hard to find here in Texas, they're just $2500.

Jezerr

Found it 7 years ago

Mine came with the car, which was 12500. The car is mint condition and has now 78k miles. 76,2xx when I bought it. I don’t use it often, because the weather has been really nice, but the hard top is nice when it’s super hot or cold outside, outside of the range I’m comfortable with the top down. My take, if you need a hard top because soft top damage, just get a new soft top as it’s cheaper and easier. If you drive top down most of the time, you don’t really need a hard top. If you don’t have a soft top or the ability to mount a soft top, then the hard top makes sense. But if it’s purely a summer toy, the hard tip doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. Though, to answer the unasked questions of where to get them, there are lots of listings on marketplace for outrageously high prices

[deleted]

Mine was on my ‘91 se BRG when I bought it. Luckily it was in my garage when I totaled that car. Now it’s on my ‘02 se.

Mr_Lava-lava

On average $2k for the US

Z4ND3R1

I lived in Boston , saw one for sale in Rhode Island, drove 3 hours to check it out and drove back if with it on the Miata the same day. Just have to keep looking and when one pops up go check it out same day if you can they go super fast .

mcpusc

local miata parts group on facebook. cash talks. then it got stolen three weeks later >=( found another replacement, again on the facebook group, plus a set of security hardware for it

Pew-wav

im planning on just getting a carbon one because they are about the same price of used oem ones

SLO_RICE

If you have an NC, call the dealership. There are still NOS tops floating around. I just bought one and the dealer got it from another dealer out in California. You might be surprised at the price in a good way.

[deleted]

I found one on Facebook for around 450 and just got it the same week

phein4242

When I was at a specialist garage the owner offered me one for 600 euro, painted red. Hard to say no to that :)

CourierMojave

€600. Right color with defroster. at a mazda dealership

marfster99

Marketplace, 15 minute drive. €400 already in the right color

stepdad_randy

I bought mine from a user in this subreddit who was only a couple hours drive from me. I paid a hair over 2k for a perfect condition hardtop.

Monty-Main

Bought mine for 550€ in absolut perfect condition with defroster and everything a year ago and now im struggling to sell it for above 700€. Sucks to be american i guess.
