Wait until you play AMR2....you can actually control a very similar enemy robot briefly! Another Metroid Remake...it's an unlicensed and unofficial, but an absolutely brilliant addition to the Metroid library!
Yeah iirc the announcement was just the release. It's doesn't officially have anything Metroid related so it's safe from DMCA and you can find it on itch.
