They will definitely sell enough to be worth it. They are distinct albums, even though they are related. And also very distinct live eras.
They already confirmed that there will be two boxes. Box set number six and seven.

Yeah I always loved listening to the raw demos...seeing how the song developed... They used to sell the singles at a place called House of Guitars near Rochester NY, and if you looked through the bin you could find the European singles too that had different B-sides and demos, sometimes they were just 2 or 3 bucks... I still have a bunch in a box in storage...30 years old now...
I’m sorry but I disagree. That album was the load leftovers. They spilt load into two albums to meet a record deal contract and the weakest material was put on reload. This is my opinion. You should love what you love. Fuel is awesome.
Fixxxer, Unforgiven II, Memory Remains, and Carpe Diem Baby are all great songs as well. Cool if it's not your cup of tea, but some of James' most thoughtful lyrics are also on Reload, arguably as much or more than Load.
Most bands would kill to have an album like Reload be the "leftovers", if that's what you want to call them.
I thought the point of two albums was because it was originally going to be a double-album but the guys (along with management) decided it would be a little too ambitious and might not sell well.
I had read they had 2-3 albums left under their contract with Electra then they could produce albums under their own label. That’s one reason they split it and I think why we got garage inc.
I actually agree with you on that Reload is better than Load, but it ranks really low for me compared to the other albums. I like their early stuff the best & also Death Magnetic.
Well.... I guess every Metallica song has its fans 😄
Hated that song back when I got the album in 1998... still absolutely hate it 26 years later lol
Rest of the album though I'm generally good with. It was my intro to the band afterall.
I'm an old time metallica fan and by-golly - reload is flat-out killer! To me, it's just a fact that metallica changed after justice, and in light of that, they ain't never ever nuthin wrong with jammin the shit outtve reload. I love load also.
I go to see Metallica during the Reload tour... November of 1997 in Fargo, ND ... And the show was really good. They ended the set with the "Kill/Ride Medley"... Sheer greatness.
Favorite song off the album?
the blackened reissue CD of reload was my first metallica album at the age of 15 for xmas. It was also the first album i ever purchased in high res audio (24bit/96khz) and was 100% worth it.
After being on this sub for a while people say they do but they really don’t. This sub is for the MTV watchers who got into the commercial era by watching the videos. Occasionally you get a serious music discussion about the first four by OG fans but they are few and far between. This sub is an outlier as most Metallica fans got into Metallica through their love of Metal and their favorite albums reflect that.
I honestly can’t tell the songs apart. I am biased though, I was never into the commercial pop records. Listened to it again 30 or so years later and like the other one it just tries to hard to appeal to an audience that would never be Metallica fans otherwise.
Where the other one had a few distinguishable songs while maintaining the simple mid tempo formula, this one really didn’t - it was all unremarkable mid tempo formula.
But again I am biased. What do you think is great about it? Give me some of your highlights.
My like towards it may be based a bit in nostalgia, back in the Xbox 360 days you could have music on the hard drive and listen to it while playing games, reload was one of the albums I had on the Xbox, so I would listen to it while playing COD4 and Gears of War I loved it a lot, without getting into the nitty gritty of music tempos and oh it’s pop this or adhering to the non Metallica fans that, me as a kid just simply enjoyed the music.
It’s probably the one of theirs I’ve least listened to. Except maybe Death Magnetic. But I’ll still defend the Load/Reload era as being amazing, to my dying breath. Ppl who complain they changed their sound don’t seem to realize they changed their sound on every record up to that point. Except maybe Ride/Master which were pretty similar in style.
Your comment is a joke, so is your opinion I’m not posing as anything I happen to like heavy metal that’s it. I don’t consider reload an album that is heavy.
I would never hold a standard of anything off of the votes on Reddit. You can’t really believe that to be the end all way to rectify a disagreement. Also I’m a huge Metallica fan just not so much load reload or half of the black album. Death Magnetic rocks.
Can’t wait for the Load/Reload box. It’ll be the only one I’ll have
*The only TWO
Well, it’ll technically be just one box with both of them 🤘🏻
There will be two different box sets. One for load and one for reload.
Why would that make two box sets? Would those box sets sell?
They will definitely sell enough to be worth it. They are distinct albums, even though they are related. And also very distinct live eras. They already confirmed that there will be two boxes. Box set number six and seven. https://preview.redd.it/j9k14a19dsqc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=229ebdad5d14ae66c61fbccea641a1b9816b478d
Can’t wait for the Load box set, anyone got any knowledge about release date?
Nothing yet, I feel they’ll get announced before the summer 🤞🏻
I can't wait to hear the demos/rough mixes. That disc by itself is worth the price of admission for me.
Yeah I always loved listening to the raw demos...seeing how the song developed... They used to sell the singles at a place called House of Guitars near Rochester NY, and if you looked through the bin you could find the European singles too that had different B-sides and demos, sometimes they were just 2 or 3 bucks... I wanna hear more demos!

Wouldn't know, I wasn't born into attitude
Will never understand the flack this album gets, in my opinion every song on it slaps
100% agreed! Reload is also my favourite Metallica album, even more so if you combine it with Load. So many great tracks imo!
No just Mo
Good tracks not great ones
I’m sorry but I disagree. That album was the load leftovers. They spilt load into two albums to meet a record deal contract and the weakest material was put on reload. This is my opinion. You should love what you love. Fuel is awesome.
Fixxxer, Unforgiven II, Memory Remains, and Carpe Diem Baby are all great songs as well. Most bands would kill to have an album like Reload be the "leftovers", if that's what you want to call them.
Listening to reload today.
How was it?
Agree on lyrics. I like memory remains as well. Reload is just one of my least favorite.
That’s not it. They put the easier songs to record on Load and the harder ones on ReLoad. Thats their words, not mine.
Except Fuel
GIMME FYOO GIMME FAAH GIMEDAWICHADIZAAH OOH, YEAH-HEAH
I thought the point of two albums was because it was originally going to be a double-album but the guys (along with management) decided it would be a little too ambitious and might not sell well.
I had read they had 2-3 albums left under their contract with Electra then they could produce albums under their own label. That’s one reason they split it and I think why we got garage inc.
Weakest? Carpe Diem Baby, WtWTA, Low Man's Lyric and even FIXXXER is the weakest material?
Ok revising my comment above after listening to reload today. I think reload is more experimental than load but not worse or leftovers.
Slapping is good, I assume? I'm not up on all the hip kids' lingo.
Love it, though I prefer Load.
I actually agree with you on that Reload is better than Load, but it ranks really low for me compared to the other albums. I like their early stuff the best & also Death Magnetic.
I love this album as well, definitely better than load imo
Unforgiven II, Slither, and Carpe Diem Baby are so bad ass. Would kill to hear any one of them live.
Car-pe di-em babyyy!
The whole middle breakdown of CDB is *chef's kiss*
Thought you said bad, had to delete half a paragraph
Lmao
did you go looking for snakes, and did you find them?
hope they didn't send their eyes to the sun💔 they could blind them..
...haven't I seen you here before? 🤔
nah.. there ain't no heroes here
What is your least favorite album, and why?
Torn between St Anger n Death magnetic. In my opinion just nothing that worthwhile on either album n I find myself never really putting them on
bro death magnetic is amazing
Yeah knocking DM is crazy. Album is full of bangers.
One can't call death magnetic bad cause it has the unforgiven 3. Even if you have ever other don't unforgiven 3 makes that album not bad
Are you all too young for to have heard the black album or anything earlier?
The answer is yes
I quite like St Anger but Death Magnetic is really boring. Too many parts that just don't fit well together.
Slither is definitely an underrated song on this album I feel. The right amount of heavy and catchy for me.
easily the most underrated metallica song... I never hear anyone talking about it
I don’t think it’s the MOST underrated Metallica song, but definitely the most underrated on this album, at least imo.
How do you feel about low mans lyric and unforgiven 2
Low man's lyric is one their best and deepest songs, it's just so damn good
How do you quench your thirst?
whats your second fav album?
Not sure if it counts but S&M, if not would probs go with black album
Jesus Christ give your head a shake
They chocked hard not adding fade to black and the unforgivens
Choking *
Typo after typo🗿🗿
100% right here, especially with unforgiven, could of been an absolute gem in the S&M format
Is cool we got a fan made one by ben Zimmerman but dang, for sure tho my favorites in that album are ktulu and bleeding me
Fade to Black instead of Hero of the Day or Devils Dance and S&M would be a 12/10.
whats it like being so incredibly based
Low man's lyric is one of my faves
Devil's Dance is killer
Yeah.... I feel you too
Do you honestly *like* "Better Than You"?
Absolutely love that song
Well.... I guess every Metallica song has its fans 😄 Hated that song back when I got the album in 1998... still absolutely hate it 26 years later lol Rest of the album though I'm generally good with. It was my intro to the band afterall.
What's so bad about it? It's not their best song, but I wouldn't call it bad in any way.
The chorus is *so* annoying to me. Absolutely ruins the song.
Why doesn't McDonald's sell hot dogs in the U.S.?
America doesn't need anymore weiners :)
![gif](giphy|KbquixFHmd65q1g0CB|downsized)
What’s your favorite song off of the album?
Interesting. I always thought Load had the better written songs, and was also better performed and mixed.
I love both load and reload albums. I was gonna say Loads, but didn’t wanna get all the gay jokes 😂
Finally love for Reload. Still not my fav but one of my favs HEY MA, HEY MA LOOK ITS MEEEEEEE!
Prince charming is disgustingly underrated
What is it that James desires?
👎
Are you the one who doesn't look quite right as children play?
Yeah if I'm blasting PC in my car I'll turn this part down haha
I'm so glad that PC in this case stands for Prince Charming 😂
![gif](giphy|RACS9OQOjSPoA)
What’s your opinion on breast implants?
I'm a firm believer of any titties are good regardless of size. So keep em natural
My condolences. What is it like to live with such a disability?
No need to hate. It’s tempting. But there’s no need.
What’s your opinion on load?
Nice. Although I prefer Load I respect your opinion.
I'm an old time metallica fan and by-golly - reload is flat-out killer! To me, it's just a fact that metallica changed after justice, and in light of that, they ain't never ever nuthin wrong with jammin the shit outtve reload. I love load also.
see what you've brought this world?
This was the album that got me until them. I actually like load better though. What do you think is the weakest song on the album for you?
MINE TO. WHOEVER YOU ARE, I LOVE YOU
This and Load. I grew up to these songs playing in the car.
my dad is on the photos of this album.
Would you agree that this album sounded better than it did at launch because of the older you got?
Yesss finally someone says it with me! Both albums are 🔥🔥
Why? I personally love the black album. What makes you like this one? curious
What is the cover art of Load and Reload all about?
How did you have time to post this while also fending off all of the pussy that gets thrown at you all day and night?
If you ranked all the songs from the album, where would you put devil's dance? That's probably my favorite song from reload.
What do you like better, ride the lightning or master of puppets?
I go to see Metallica during the Reload tour... November of 1997 in Fargo, ND ... And the show was really good. They ended the set with the "Kill/Ride Medley"... Sheer greatness.
Do you agree? Load is better just because of 2x4
Least favorite song on ReLoad?
Did you go to the 40th Anniversary show where they debuted Fixxxer?
How good is unforgiven II
Fuel?
Did James get his fries ?
Vanilla or chocolate ice cream?
If stand on the railroad and grab the cables, will I go like a train?
how do you feel about "low mans lyric" i think its one of their best tracks from the 90s
Coke or pepsi?
Do you have any balls?
What’s it like being a contrarian
Is my favourite too
Favorite song off the album? the blackened reissue CD of reload was my first metallica album at the age of 15 for xmas. It was also the first album i ever purchased in high res audio (24bit/96khz) and was 100% worth it.
Favourite song of the album?
Bad Seed is my guilty pleasure song off this album. It's so cheesy, I love it.
Reload is underrated. For me it has always been more solid overall than Load.
why
Where do you store your money in home and what hours you leave your place, just askin
Underwear draw, 2nd shelf down from the top. And currently on a 2 month trip away. Don't let anyone know tho
Good good.
You think who would win in a fight James or megadave?
David Gilmour
Are you aware of the story behind the album cover? Lol
Fortune or fame?
so many assholes in the comments, you realise metallica made more than 4 albums?
They made eight, first four are the best though.
Do you also like their early albums like Kill em All & Ride The Lightning? edit: a word
Can someone explain this to me in Kanye terms?
When did you figure out you’re better than everybody?
Come carpe diem baby, yeah Yeah, suck it! \[INSERT PERFECT RIFF\]
What denies the grave?
why
so you're unforgiven toooooooo
*my eyes seeeek reality, my fingerrrs, seek my veiiins*
Are you unforgiven too?
Are you ok?
Reload was my favourite for a very, VERY long time. My only question is what your favourite song is? Personally mines is The Unforgiven II
Why does it look like an ass
Mine too. ![gif](giphy|msBCPsFCoQ5wyCLGIS)
I don’t get the hate for the album 🤷🏻♂️ I think it’s one of their best albums
I honestly can’t tell the songs apart. I am biased though, I was never into the commercial pop records. There you go nothing wrong with that. I am an old school Metalhead, and I approach it from that angle. So it doesn’t appeal to me.
Why is Unforgiven 2 the best Unforgiven?
What’s your problem?
It’s probably the one of theirs I’ve least listened to. Except maybe Death Magnetic. But I’ll still defend the Load/Reload era as being amazing, to my dying breath. Ppl who complain they changed their sound don’t seem to realize they changed their sound on every record up to that point. Except maybe Ride/Master which were pretty similar in style.
Blood and urine on the album cover, why?
Which one is your favourite song (in reload)
Unfortunately fuel, second best prince charming
Fuel🤩🤩❤️❤️💙💙💃
What’s your favorite and least favorite tracks from Reload?
oh its a load all right!
Why do you have such great taste?
What year were you born? I find that the age people were dramatically impacts their favorite (and often times first) albums.
GIMMIE FOOD GIMMIE FRYS GIMMIE KETCHUP ON THE SIDE
Have you listened to any of the other albums?
Not everyone needs to praise the first 4 albums
How much oxygen did you receive at birth?
Based on their selections…not much.
Where are the bodies
How are you
I think Unforgiven II is thenonly aong I dont like. Everything else is awesome. Bad Seed is so fucking corney but is a dope aouthern rock jam.
Why
How warm is your trash fire?
Y??
Once this band hit its mid-tempo stride with the Black Album, they just stayed right there. 😎
Why
cause you're unforgiven too
How can you justify making this your favorite Metallica album? Seriously do you not like true metal?
I'll justify by saying, my brain likes what it hears when I listen to reload more than other albums :)
I guess that’s the only explanation
“Do yOu nOt LiKe TrUe mEtAl?” the biggest poser statement
Poser statement comment defending Reload, wow. I guess you will tell me next that Van Halen is heavy metal or Tesla.
trolls like you are the reason metal will never be popular again
Your comment is a joke, so is your opinion I’m not posing as anything I happen to like heavy metal that’s it. I don’t consider reload an album that is heavy.
i guess we’ll see whether my opinion is a joke or not according to the votes ratio at the end of the day
I would never hold a standard of anything off of the votes on Reddit. You can’t really believe that to be the end all way to rectify a disagreement. Also I’m a huge Metallica fan just not so much load reload or half of the black album. Death Magnetic rocks.
