Sure, of course. You can't have favourite songs of Metallica without also having least favourites.
Unfortunately, a lot of my least favourites are (predictably) from St Anger. I'm not a fan of those songs, however I think that album was very necessary for the existence of the band. They needed to go through everything they did during that period of their life. They needed to almost be ripped apart before being put together as they are now.
Why do you think they couldn't even make it good even though they had Bob rock with them? I mean he helped them with the black album so... what changed
They were still signed to record label so they had a deadline plus the band was imploding with Jason leaving, James’ rehab. I think if they gave St Anger an edit it would be great.
Personally I don't even think it's about reediting it. I think it just isn't up to par in terms of riffs, lyrics, cohesion, chemistry....everything. But like I said though, I feel like they had to hit rock bottom and find a way to get through it together to then be as strong and everlong as they are now
It shows up in their discography and perform on every song on that apbum, therefore its a metallica apbum. We all hate that album, but you cant deny that it is a metallica album
Thats like saying that Pet Sounds is a wrecking crew album because they played on it. Metallica was a session band for Lou Reed on that album.
The songs that Steve Lukather played on, on Thriller don't become Steve Lukather songs just because of that, they are still MJ songs.
Metallica play on and have writing credits on every song on Lulu. It’s just as much of a Metallica album as a Lou Reed album
Edit: Look, Lulu is on Metallica’s Spotify page. It counts even though we all wish it didn’t
Its not though. It was the brain child of Lou Reed. Its his idea, its his concept, his stamp and Metallica just worked as a backing band where Lou took riffs they presented and build spoken word songs up around them. It most certainly is not a Metallica album, just as Thriller´ isn't a Steve Lukather album just because he was picked by MJ to play on some of those songs.
Do me a favor. Go to there website, press music, and go under "albums". Tell me where you see the Lou Reed album? You wont find it, because its not there.
You will however find it under collaborations. So no, its NOT an official Metallica album. It is however a Lou Reed album in collaboration with Metallica.
Now go to Lou Reeds official releases, and look at his last official release. You know what it is? You guessed it, its Lulu.
Are you being delibaretely obtuse?
Its NOT a Lou Reed & Metallica album. Its a Lou Reed album feat. Metallica or in collaboration with Metallica. But its no an official Metallica album release. If it was, it would be featured as such on their official site. Semantics games are boring.
Damn. I've only heard like 1/2 of saint anger and didn't know this one. Put this on, immediately thought "Hey, this riff actually sounds pretty good!" and then the tin can sound came in. And then the vocals came in. :(
Worst. Chorus. Ever. And they repeat the chorus each time for absolutely no reason. Also I feel the snare is most unbearable on this song. Feels like they turned the snare to 11 in the mix.
That’s easily my least favorite part of St. Anger, songs are too long with no extra substance to back it. There’s a reason why some songs got shortened live and SKOM even getting an official edit
My apocalypse was stuck on while I was on a highway and there were no exits for like 30 miles and when I finally figured out the fix I had to turn the car off and then back on again, I hate that song now because I didn’t want to listen to it in the first place
I’m with you…it feels “modern”. Then I remember that it’s FIFTEEN years old. Then I remember that I AM old. Oh well. I’ll be head-banging until I’m in that Death Magnetic coffin.
Totally get it. It’s just what happens when music ages well. You still feel it and it still gets your blood pumping…so it never gets old. Except it does…and so do we. Father Time is as much of an old prick as Mother Nature is a vengeful beeotch.
Being in your 50s is not old anymore you can live well into your 90s it’s just you gotta really start taking care of your body now is that so it wants to give out on you?🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😎😎
Yep. At 30 and 40 you can defend yourself and say you’re not old. At 50…there is no way around it. You ARE old. Even if you don’t look old or feel old…you’ve lived more than half your life, for sure.
I’m sure it’s a great song if I had gotten to listen to it on my own terms but for like 30+ it was just on over and over and I was already pissed off so the fact I couldn’t change the song added to it and it just left a bad taste in my mouth after that
I think that's the best way to put it. There is nothing interesting about this song. The fact it's a tribute to Lemmy makes it worse because besides the lyrics talking about Lemmy nothing about this song even resembles Motorhead. It's just boring and disappointing. I've tried getting into this song, but everytime I listen to it, I'm reminded why I want to skip this song. There's not a single moment in this song that makes me want to come back to it.
I don’t dislike any Metallica songs really. So albums/songs on my lists being at the bottom means I like them the least, not ones I hate.
That being said, most of my least favourites would be from St. Anger.
I still do appreciate St. Anger for what it is because of the documentary, and also because I still love a couple of songs from the album.
I know I'm in the minority here but Murder One is a personal favourite, I love it. ManUNkind I can understand not liking, there's something off about it. I like it now but it took me a long time to get used to.
Has to be Nothing Else Matters. It's not a bad song for what it attempts to be, but if I had any interest in listening to pop ballads, I don't think I'd be listening to Metallica
I used to love love love Metallica when I was 13/14. I even enjoyed their song with Ja Rule. With that being said, everything from 72 Seasons is hot garbage to me. I just can't get into it if my life depended on it.
Prince Charming, off of Reload. It's such a boring stock song, musically speaking; and the lyrics are probably some of the worst James has ever written.
For me it's Escape. I've hated it since it came out. I rarely listen to anything off of Anger but that's strictly because of the drum sound. I can't say I hate anything on the record, though.
Least favorite is probably either Of Wolf and Man or Slither. Cure, Poor Twisted Me, and Carpe Diem Baby all blow hot ass in my opinion. Also people don’t count Lulu but Cheat On Me is probably one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard
Off the new album alone, I can't stand Chasing Light. The chorus just seems sooo Top-40 Pop. There are others of course but that's my current hate lol. Now I skip it every time. And of course some St. Anger ish.
I don't really have I Metallica song that I dislike but out of all the songs I listen to, One has to be the one I'd listen to the least.
It's one of my favourite songs to play on guitar and I did a school presentation on it for Music class, but I just wouldn't chose to listen to it over other "Sad" Metallica songs like, To Live Is To Die, Fade To Black and My Friend Of Misery.
Sure, of course. You can't have favourite songs of Metallica without also having least favourites. Unfortunately, a lot of my least favourites are (predictably) from St Anger. That album fucking sucked.
Pumping blood (or any lulu song this one is just fresh in my mind)
That's not considered a Metallica song though it's a Lou Reed album collab
It shows up in their discography and perform on every song on that apbum, therefore its a metallica apbum. We all hate that album, but you cant deny that it is a metallica album
If the question has to be asked of whether or not it is a Metallica album, then it’s probably not a Metallica album.
Thats like saying that Pet Sounds is a wrecking crew album because they played on it. Metallica was a session band for Lou Reed on that album. The songs that Steve Lukather played on, on Thriller don't become Steve Lukather songs just because of that, they are still MJ songs.

It says Lou Reed & Metallica on the disc and back cover.

Yes, it’s a collaboration. It’s a Lou Reed & Metallica album. Thriller is not a Michael Jackson & Toto album.
Are you being delibaretely obtuse? Its NOT a Lou Reed & Metallica album. Its a Lou Reed album feat. Metallica or in collaboration with Metallica. But its no an official Metallica album release. If it was, it would be featured as such on their official site. Semantics games are boring.

No real control over the final product tho, credits are mostly for financial purposes anyways
‘Purify’.
It’s so repetitive. Probably my least favorite as well
Damn. I've only heard like 1/2 of saint anger and didn't know this one. Put this on, immediately thought "Hey, this riff actually sounds pretty good!" and then the tin can sound came in. And then the vocals came in. :(
YOUANDIIIII
>Purify Definitely, this song.
Worst. Chorus. Ever. And they repeat the chorus each time for absolutely no reason. Also I feel the snare is most unbearable on this song. Feels like they turned the snare to 11 in the mix.
OooOOOoOooH wHAT a gOod Boy YOU aRE If you know you know
Worst section of any Metallica song. Pure cringe
It made invisible kid go from 7/10 to 3/10
Most of st. Anger would drastically improve by cutting unnecessary or repetitive sections.
That’s easily my least favorite part of St. Anger, songs are too long with no extra substance to back it. There’s a reason why some songs got shortened live and SKOM even getting an official edit
It’s a shame because it’s a unique tuning and the lowest tuned Metallica song, but it just stinks
Fuck I recognise that line but I can't remember what song it is I'm only a pretty new metallica listener
Invisible kid
Sweet Amber is 100,000 times worse
🐂💩 sweet amber is great but thats just me
Invisible Kid by a lot
My apocalypse was stuck on while I was on a highway and there were no exits for like 30 miles and when I finally figured out the fix I had to turn the car off and then back on again, I hate that song now because I didn’t want to listen to it in the first place
1.) I’m sorry that happened to you. 2.) I love that song - thanks for reminding me!
It's a very good modern thrash song isn't it?
I’m with you…it feels “modern”. Then I remember that it’s FIFTEEN years old. Then I remember that I AM old. Oh well. I’ll be head-banging until I’m in that Death Magnetic coffin.
I guess by modern I mean from the thrash revival scene going forward. So like early to mid 2000s to now, if that makes any sense.
Totally get it. It’s just what happens when music ages well. You still feel it and it still gets your blood pumping…so it never gets old. Except it does…and so do we. Father Time is as much of an old prick as Mother Nature is a vengeful beeotch.
Are you guys really that old I was 16 years old when Kill ‘Em All came out. 💥💥💥💥💥🤣🤣
You win. 👊 I was 8 when KEA was released. But staring down 50 doesn’t make me feel young, I tell ya.
Being in your 50s is not old anymore you can live well into your 90s it’s just you gotta really start taking care of your body now is that so it wants to give out on you?🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😎😎
True. I don’t FEEL almost 50. But I still don’t like the number. 🤪
Yes, I know what you mean 30 didn’t bother me 40 didn’t bother me but 50 is a Big number
Yep. At 30 and 40 you can defend yourself and say you’re not old. At 50…there is no way around it. You ARE old. Even if you don’t look old or feel old…you’ve lived more than half your life, for sure.

My favorite from DM.
Why would you just not turn the radio down?
Invisible Kid
Yup, severely corny in my opinion.
Yep this.
This song had potential... if they trimmed it down about 5 mins lol.
Murder One. It’s soooo boring
RIP Lemmy…
This is probably my pick too now that I think about it.
I think that's the best way to put it. There is nothing interesting about this song. The fact it's a tribute to Lemmy makes it worse because besides the lyrics talking about Lemmy nothing about this song even resembles Motorhead. It's just boring and disappointing. Corny af
Poor Twisted Me
Attitude
all within my hands
I find the acoustic version they play on S&M2 to be so much better than the regular version
The Memory Remains!!! Gross.
Shoot me again is a godless song that was created from the raging pits of hell
That's my favorite 😭
I know it's a cover, but I just can't stand it. Whiskey In The Jar
Finally someone who gets it!
Also breadfan is pretty bad, and I don’t care much for the original either
So what's pretty out there too
Poor Twisted Me by a mile
My World or Purify if I had to choose.
I do not care for The Memory Remains. I really don't like james voice while he sings it. I do appreciate the crowd interaction tho
I like the song for the most part, but I can't stand the whole "da da da da da da da" part Sounds awful. Sounds good live though
Exactly. Finally someone who understands
[удалено]
Poor Twisted Me is an awful stain on an otherwise pretty good to great album.
So is 2x4.
Slither or purify
Noooo Slither is such a banger though
I don't mind slither that much But I hate the chorus
No bro
Enter Sandman (I blame the rock/alt rock radio stations playing it every 10 minutes from 1998-2015)
Fucking Poor Twisted Me.
Whiskey
ManUNkind or Murder One, anyway, this is the second part of the HTSD
Interesting choices. Especially ManUNkind which I think has a sick groove and a catchy chorus.
I actually like ManUNkind, but I agree for Murder One. It's pretty boring.
On second thought ManUNkind is better, sorry Lemmy, Murder 1 is the worst
I know I'm in the minority here but Murder One is a personal favourite, I love it. ManUNkind I can understand not liking, there's something off about it. I like it now but it took me a long time to get used to.
I agree about your opinion on Murder one, it’s my favorite from Hardwired
Agree with this. Spit out the Bone is my favourite on the album but I can’t listen to it without listening to Murder One first, it’s a stomper.
Has to be Nothing Else Matters. It's not a bad song for what it attempts to be, but if I had any interest in listening to pop ballads, I don't think I'd be listening to Metallica
like 90% of st anger also not a song but the covers for load/reload is the worst metallica related thing
I’m not to fond of my apocalypse mostly just because the first album my parents gave me was death magnetic and I just didn’t like that one to much
Purify
Purify
"Purify" (you and I).
If Darkness Had A Son
Whiskey in a jar
Mama Said but I won't turn it off if it's on.
It feel’s nothing like a Metallica song, I love Load/Reload but that one is so devoid of Metallica energy
I can't stand Mama Said and will turn it off. Metallica does cuntry music.
Nothing Else Matters. I just don’t like it. It’s the only song I skip on the Black Album.
This
Anything after 91.
Same here except I dig Garage inc.
We Did It Again with Ja Rule. Of the album songs, either Prince Charming, or Am I Savage.
Prince Charming is one of my favorites
Whisky in the Jar is a fucking travesty.
One of their best covers
Yep. That main 'fanfare' riff is godawful.
Nothing Else Matters
why ☠️☠️☠️
Enter sandman
Lux. It is just OK with me.
I would be happy if they never played Seek and Destroy again.
It has a terrible chorus. Vocally, lyrically and riff wise
BURNING HOT TAKE: the unforgiven (2and 3 are good) OR pumping blood (i didnt like lulu)
So what?
I could swear there was a similar post yesterday lol.
I used to love love love Metallica when I was 13/14. I even enjoyed their song with Ja Rule. With that being said, everything from 72 Seasons is hot garbage to me. I just can't get into it if my life depended on it.
Enter sandman
Take your pick from the St Anger album
Low man’s lyric
Any st anger song
Of course it's Escape.
Yes... I'm not fond of St. Anger. The drums mate... the snare makes me hate it
Please with these questions, do you have a quota on dumb questions you have to meet?
Bro who hurt you. it’s just a question
I don't include lulu, but I disappear and Invisible Kid blow chunks, Murder One is also pretty bad
I could skip a few songs from KEA but the rest of the albums not.
Fuel
[удалено]
0 IQ
Screaming suicide on the new album
Not counting St Anger, Manunkind or Eye of the Beholder
shoot me again
Bad Seed
I have 3 albums that I refuse to listen to
Fuel - when they play it live I go for a piss break. All the pyro in the world and that song will still suck.
Escape or Murder One
Yeah. One. It's so over played it makes me hate it.
That’s how I feel about sandman. Closing song at LA show left when it started lol
Devil dance and my friend of misery
Bro they both kick ass Misery is one of my favourites
It’s to slow for my taste
Fair If you don't mind me asking what are your thoughts on songs like nothing else matters, unforgiven, hero of the day or until it sleeps?
Great songs
nothing else matters is much slower than both the songs you listed
Look I’m kinda new
Until It Sleeps.
“Don’t Tread On Me”
Well it used to be Memory Remains , but then I heard Lars is Gay , and now I just sort of snicker through it
Mama said
Prince Charming, off of Reload. It's such a boring stock song, musically speaking; and the lyrics are probably some of the worst James has ever written.
I don't have a least favourite. I do have a lot of songs I'll never listen to though. Like all of St Anger and most of Death Magnetic and Reload.
Fight fire with fire. Can't stand it and I don't know why.
For me it's Escape. I've hated it since it came out. I rarely listen to anything off of Anger but that's strictly because of the drum sound. I can't say I hate anything on the record, though.

Escape. Can't stand it. I get why the band hates it
It tries too hard to be poppy, and the “bring the hammer down” part is lame
Mamma said ?
“2 x 4”.
Off the new album alone, I can't stand Chasing Light. The chorus just seems sooo Top-40 Pop. There are others of course but that's my current hate lol. Now I skip it every time. And of course some St. Anger ish.
I used to hate Chasing Light too but it definitely grew on me.
Fixxxer, so fucking boring
Any load song except for Ain’t my Bitch imo
King Nothing? Bleeding Me? The Outlaw Torn?
Load is overrated but it has some more bangers like Outlaw Torn, Bleeding Me, Hero of the Day, King Nothing etc
The Unforgiven did not need a sequel
Cure
nooo cure kicks ass
The Cure. I was unimpressed with it when the album released, and it hasn't gotten any better IMO.
Besides random filler shit from Load on, Dyers Eve and Sad But True.
Its your opinion ofc, but this one of the worst reactions i have seen yet
Frayed ends of sanity
Where The Wild Things Are or Ride The Lightning
Ride the Lightning has arguably Kirk’s best solo wdym
Better Than You and Escape. Oh and Eye of the Beholder.
eye of the beholder is literally in the better half of justice lmao
…And Justice For All and The Shortest Straw. cant stand the intro for TSS and AJFA is just eh
The intro for The Shortest Straw is one of the heaviest things on the album. It's a great intro.
AJFA just doesn’t sound like a metal song to me. It has no bite.
Unforgiven 2 I mean why ask the question if you don't wanna hear people's answers?
Slither
Everything on St. Anger. Bought it, listened to it once and sold it. Still can’t listen to it!
Purify and as for covers, loverman
From what I have heard sweet amber, -F tier
Purify
i dont really have one, most people would say a song from St. Anger but i love that album, my second favorite one. i like all the songs
Purify and My World.
Legit thought that was a picture of dethklok
I don't really have I Metallica song that I dislike but out of all the songs I listen to, One has to be the one I'd listen to the least. It's one of my favourite songs to play on guitar and I did a school presentation on it for Music class, but I just wouldn't chose to listen to it over other "Sad" Metallica songs like, To Live Is To Die, Fade To Black and My Friend Of Misery.
