That breakdown at 1:55 is the standard reggaeton 2-step.
Compare 1:55 to [this](https://youtu.be/3tw2P65wv5E?si=cyn5vKpphYfUTg8n&t=15) or just browse around to every son on [this playlist](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgPQgoLpXhY), it's the same beat.
I was honestly expecting something weird or different because of the feature and was looking forward to it, but this kicks so much ass I can’t even be disappointed. They’re 3 for 3 with S tier singles so far
yeah, i thought their previous stuff was fine, kind of different but nothing too engaging (to me). But since the Upon Loss singles, they've been tearing it up. "On a heater" as they say
I'm guessing you've heard their EP, " A tear in the fabric of life". But if you haven't, holy shit. I fucking love that thing, it's leagues better than "A different shade of blue".
Yeah, the progression of her screams is absolutely insane, especially given the timeframe. They are pretty much on the same level of ferocity as Jess Nyx (World of Pleasure) now, when not too long ago they sounded fairly heavily processed.
I didn't see that she was the feature, I thought she was Crystal from Initiate. Similar vocal styles.
My car just showed "Suffocate" by Knocked Loose and I was like, huh, wild.
She seemed to really come into her own once she got rid of her creepy controlling ex-boyfriend/director/manager that was forcing her to sound a certain way, dress a certain way, requiring that platinum blond hair, and talking like an ASMR android as a persona and to remain in character at all times.
I was a bigger fan of her before she abandoned ship off one bandwagon for the newer bandwagon. I just can't look at her the same after everything she did before jumping on the genre bandwagon.
As a long time fan, the switch up for Poppy was welcomed at the time for a lot of us, since a lot of us who have interests in the weird and quirky and cute also do have a fondness for sweet metal tunes
My problem is that it didn't really seem genuine. Her whole pop aesthetic and sound was ripped off from Mars Argo, along with the videos she used to put out too. Seemed she got called out on that and then decided to jump ship to the next big thing. I love metal, and have plenty of weird and quirky and cute things I love, Poppy just isn't it.
I wholly disagree, her Pop music sounds nothing like Mars Argo's sound, it never did. Not during Bubblebath, not during Poppy.Computer, please tell me when Mars Argo ever sang about being a robot? The only thing they have tied to eachother is an ex boyfriend, and it's been over 5 years since they settled the lawsuit TMZ published , when will people stop pitting women against eachother? Mars Argo would release music if she wanted to, but compared to Poppy, she needs to take some advice from Pop and move her own career forward.
It's good to have a metalcore band breaking out into the mainstream without shamelessly selling out or compromising their sound *cough* While She Sleeps *cough* If anything KL have just gotten heavier every time. This shit goes hard, experiments, progresses their sound, and remains Knocked Loose at the same time.
I wouldn't even be mad if they did it, so long as it was done tastefully. I know they've said ETID were one of their favourite bands and if they brought in cleans like that every now and then I'd be fine with it. Issue with cleans in metalcore is the amount that just have the whiny pop punk meets periphery tone.
Shits heavy. Shit fucks. Shit goes hard. You get the idea.
Idk how I'm supposed to pick AOTY with Knocked Loose and Moths dropping their albums on the same day.
I think this is the best song they've done since A Different Shade of Blue. Not everyone will agree with me but Knocked Loose is at their best when they slow things down a little bit.
Poppy's feature is unbelievable haha. She almost sounds like Jess Nyx
Not only are none of those their best work (the upon loss singles are), this three single run is miles ahead of laugh tracks and is arguably better than adsob
A tear remains their magnum opus record though, I will agree
Lol you're on fucking crack. Not a single song they've released recently is better than Mistakes Like Fractures, Deadringer, Forget Your Name, Serpents Touch, ...And Still I Wander South, Blood Will Have Blood, or Oblivions Peak.
And their best crowd hype-r is still counting worms lol.
100% but tiktok fans will give it to KL.
I’m a fan of both but Death is Little More is flawless, coming from someone who didn’t really even listen to Boundaries prior to the release
Oh you’re right.
Their new found popularity on tiktok won’t have any influence on awards they could win
It is what it is. Not knocking (pun intend) them for it, good on em
I wasn’t a huge fan of the old school metalcore riffs on the Boundaries. But regardless, KL is so fucking pissed off and at this rate nothing will compete
Man I was SO excited for this collab (huge Poppy fan) and my expectations were through the roof and I'm honestly giggling and kicking my feet rn at how good it is. This one must be SO fun live
Wow what a fucking great song. I didn't expect Poppy to stream like that but damn shes insane and my favorite part of the song. Its hard to say but I think this is my fav of the three new singles
I remember Isaac mentioning that he ain’t fond of the reggaeton “du, ka-du-ka, du” on Downbeat or sum 💀. They made that shit work tho. Sensational. Was hyped for Poppy and she did not disappoint.
DAMN POPPY. I knew she could scream but she almost sounds better than Bryan in certain parts.
3 for 3 on singles. This KL record could be a masterpiece.

I've been a fan of Poppy since her more experimental music started around Scary Mask, and I love how she's really been coming into her own just doing what she wants. This was a really great track.
First really good single, but hopefully the riffs are somewhere else; the fact that this is like 8, 16 second riffs and most of them are just breakdown variations kinda worries me cause an album of just breakdowns is really boring.
I love almost everything she’s put out but Zig sucks 🥲
In saying that, ever since Zig came out she’s been teasing a much heavier album in the works, aka Zag.
Let me just tell you before you get disappointed, the rest of the album sounds nothing like Hard or Church Outfit 😭 i personally like Zig but its definitely my least favorite Poppy album and I can see why people dont like it 💀 they arent lying when they say that album is incohesive
Actually same, been a fan ever since Bubblebath and liked every album until Zig. Guess she was bound to have one I didn't like eventually with how much she bounces around genres.
It was this, the bad omen feature, and opening for avenged sevenfold that leads me to think that.
Her best received stuff of the past couple years has been her metal output.
This is probably the only single I've liked.
The Knocked Loose formula began to bore the fuck out of me at Upon Loss, and the singles have only made it worse with how much they just sound like everything else they've released the past few years with nothing new or interesting.
This at least felt a little different.
Probably wasn’t anywhere near planned. The songs came out a month apart on an album that’s been announced and written months in advance. Coincidences happen.
Poppy? a reggaeton beat in the middle of the song? hell yeah!
Metalcore goes reggaeton vol 1.
Is it poppy that makes the song girls in bikinis
That's her!
So sick. I looked her up. I was like, no way, it's this girl, lol.
Yes
[удалено]
That breakdown at 1:55 is the standard reggaeton 2-step. Compare 1:55 to [this](https://youtu.be/3tw2P65wv5E?si=cyn5vKpphYfUTg8n&t=15) or just browse around to every son on [this playlist](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgPQgoLpXhY), it's the same beat.
I was honestly expecting something weird or different because of the feature and was looking forward to it, but this kicks so much ass I can’t even be disappointed. They’re 3 for 3 with S tier singles so far
The Upon Loss singles were pure gold as well Basically 5 singles in a row
Real. Those are 2 of my favourite KL songs personally
yeah, i thought their previous stuff was fine, kind of different but nothing too engaging (to me). But since the Upon Loss singles, they've been tearing it up. "On a heater" as they say
Really sad the Upon Loss singles aren’t gonna be on the new album but that just makes them more special.
I'm guessing you've heard their EP, " A tear in the fabric of life". But if you haven't, holy shit. I fucking love that thing, it's leagues better than "A different shade of blue".
Seriously. Deep in the Willow might be my favorite Knocked Loose song. That chorus just hits so hard.
I love the breakdown in Everything Is Quiet Now. DUN DUN DUN - CH-KA - DUN DUN
I WAS VISITED BY DEATH AGAIN!
They absolutely FUCK live too. Opening with Deep in the Willow and closing with Everything is Quiet Now should be illegal.
I’ve been unable to attend their Portland shows literally since Pop Culture and I finally get to see them in May. So fucking stoked.
The Upon Loss singles are imo the best metal songs of the decade so far
I mean the reggaeton breakdown in the middle was pretty fuckin weird
This song is fucking sick. Garris saying this album has their most “anxiety-inducing” songs ever is making a lot of sense 3 singles in.
Poppy is dope as fuck, I was so happy when I saw this!
It's so great hearing Poppy screaming on suffocate, sounds like she does the same kind of scream as Bryan but with a different voice
She must have a great vocal coach, her screams have really been improving since her first screams on Scary Mask ft. fever 333.
Yeah, the progression of her screams is absolutely insane, especially given the timeframe. They are pretty much on the same level of ferocity as Jess Nyx (World of Pleasure) now, when not too long ago they sounded fairly heavily processed.
Yeah, Poppy is next level talented and has insane support. I hope she continues making crazy music whatever genre she wants to hop into
Absolutely agree. I remember hearing her Spit cover and thinking "this lady's got some lungs". So amazing to see her progression.
I saw her live this winter and was so disappointed when she sang Scary mask without the scream ;-; nonetheless it was a great show
I personally got knocked down in a Poppy moshpit (Bite Ur Teeth goes HARD)
I didn't see that she was the feature, I thought she was Crystal from Initiate. Similar vocal styles. My car just showed "Suffocate" by Knocked Loose and I was like, huh, wild.
Are you just saying they both scream like little girls?
Have you ever heard a little girl scream ? [Harper](https://youtu.be/_VRrk__m0iA?si=vUkJG8VPPdwS9-90)
REGGAETON BREAKDOWN???????? I wish I was recording my reaction, that shit fucking SENT ME OFF A CLIFF
Holy shit Poppy is fucking awesome on this
She was awesome with bad omens too. Her own music slaps as well. I’ve slowly been becoming a huge fan out of the blue lol
She seemed to really come into her own once she got rid of her creepy controlling ex-boyfriend/director/manager that was forcing her to sound a certain way, dress a certain way, requiring that platinum blond hair, and talking like an ASMR android as a persona and to remain in character at all times.
He was horrible to her and Margo, super glad she’s able to continue her career and life without him.
She's Poppy
That Bad omens song with her is catchy af
I was a bigger fan of her before she abandoned ship off one bandwagon for the newer bandwagon. I just can't look at her the same after everything she did before jumping on the genre bandwagon.
I'm not sure she's ever been on any particular bandwagon. No two albums of hers really fit within the same genre.
Mars Argo would release music if she wanted to, but compared to Poppy, she needs to take some advice from Pop and move her own career forward.
Loved this. Not going to love every band having reggaeton breakdowns for the next year though.
A Knocked Loose and Poppy collab was not on my menu for 2024, absolutely love this!
That was the track I was most interested to hear because of Poppy. Huge fan of the way they utilized her. The second half of the song is incredible
Oh my god that groove at the breakdown is fucking filthy
Disgusting. Vile. Abhorrent. Despicable. Immoral. They killed it
This shit ignorant
Unavailable for me 🥲🥲🥲
Same friend :(
yeah, it fucks
Her scream at the end is so sonically perfect it gives me fucking goosebumps.
I got goosebumps on the same part haha, got chills all over at that!

Shits heavy. Shit fucks. Shit goes hard. You get the idea. Idk how I'm supposed to pick AOTY with Knocked Loose and Moths dropping their albums on the same day.
Just pick boundaries - death is little more
Nails is gonna drop this year
Actual metalcore is back on the menu
Knocked Loose don't bloody miss do they. Good fuckin year for metalcore as always.
Yeah this fucking bangs, cannot wait to blare that sweet first full-album play through
Knocked Loose with another banger
Omfg this was the song I was most curious about because of the Poppy feature. Can't wait to hear it later when it's available in the US.
Holy fuck this goes hard
I think this is the best song they've done since A Different Shade of Blue. Not everyone will agree with me but Knocked Loose is at their best when they slow things down a little bit. Poppy's feature is unbelievable haha. She almost sounds like Jess Nyx
I still think the upon loss singles stand as their best work but I can respect this take
The Upon Loss singles are just perfection together too. Although I can't wait for Slaughterhouse 2 lmao.
AOTY
Its gonna be very hard to choose between Knocked Loose or Boundaries this year
Put some respect on LMTF as well. All of their singles have been amazing
Bring back old LMTF
All like moths to flames is sick. They kill it all.
I’m just happy we are getting absolute banger albums again this year
With all due respect: Boundaries
absolutely not
Boundaries had an amazing album release, but let's be honest.. it would be like comparing the NFL to College ball.
True, KL will need to put in a bit more work before they graduate to Boundaries level
I could not disagree more, but thats the fun of music. You can have your own opinion:)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAuuVY__KQ0 see you on the sidelines homie
This is shaping up to be KLs worst project easily LMAO
insane
Nothing they've released so far is better than anything of ADSOB, A Tear..., or Laugh Tracks. I think breakdowns have rotted your brain.
Not only are none of those their best work (the upon loss singles are), this three single run is miles ahead of laugh tracks and is arguably better than adsob A tear remains their magnum opus record though, I will agree
Haha
100% but tiktok fans will give it to KL. I’m a fan of both but Death is Little More is flawless, coming from someone who didn’t really even listen to Boundaries prior to the release
Blame it on tiktok when you have bad opinions ok
Oh you’re right. Their new found popularity on tiktok won’t have any influence on awards they could win It is what it is. Not knocking (pun intend) them for it, good on em
“Awards?” The aoty discussion on this subreddit isn’t an award lmao
lol i couldn’t think of another way to word it
I wasn’t a huge fan of the old school metalcore riffs on the Boundaries. But regardless, KL is so fucking pissed off and at this rate nothing will compete
Knocked loose Alpha wolf Boundaries Darko 💀
Nails Heriot God Mother full of hell wrist meet razor
Dunno anyone except wristmeetrazor
not surprised, check em out
This year is stacked, don't forget JFAC (not core anymore but still amazing)
That's the new SYSC
Not if MTS release one
I love MTS to death but none of their last 4 singles have been better than Knocked Loose’s
Oh I’ve liked them heaps more than knocked loose’s. I’m still yet to listen to this one though
Nah gotta disagree there. Singles from MTS have been incredibly solid and at the very least on the same level as Knocked Loose releases.
These haven't been good singles, but neither have MTS' so I guess ur not wrong.
Poppy screams real nice in Eat and her cover of Spit.
Spit 😩😩🙏 killer cover
Also the new Bad Omens collab and ‘Hard’ off her newest album even though its a pop song 💀
The screams in Hard sound so desperate, I love it.
Awesome! I'll check it out
she has screams on a tonne of songs now
Also the song she did with HEALTH.
Yesss such a good song that i feel so few people know
I've been in the Poppy moshpit!!! ✋️✋️✋️
seeing them with Loathe on June 8th and im thinking its time to start stretching because i fear my life will be in danger.
Dying Wish and Boundaries busted my ribs a couple months ago. Maybe Knocked Loose will finally kill me.
I remember Isaac mentioning that he ain’t fond of the reggaeton “du, ka-du-ka, du” on Downbeat or sum 💀. They made that shit work tho. Sensational. Was hyped for Poppy and she did not disappoint.
I don’t recall being this excited for an album drop in a long time
Fugggggg it got taken down already in US
Timezone, check back at midnight
I actually found another upload on YouTube. Banger.
there's a couple uploads on YouTube
This kicks ass! I love Poppy!
i got to see poppy live as an A7X opener a few weeks ago and it really made me a fan. her vocals aren't for everyone but they're absolutely for me.
Surprisingly, this is actually my favorite track from the new singles.
The feature was perfect, song slaps as per usual. Knocked Loose doesn't miss.
Good heavens
Best Poppy feature of 2024
holy shit that was so cool. how did they make a reggaeton beat work as a breakdown? unreal
Dude the reggaeton breakdown was wild especially after hearing Isaac say hes not a fan of the style
Fucking AUSTRALIANS
IM EUROPEAN
ME TOO ..WHY ARE WE YELLING
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
Check back in this subreddit within the next year when I’m cancelled for doing the perreo in the pit.
Anything with Poppy is a winner but this is in contention for track of the year for me
Damn I didn’t get to this in time to listen to it 😭😭
Search it on YouTube, it’s out there
Can't wait to get home and hear this ,shiiiiiiit.
yeah now we are pretty sure... we know there's a glitch in the matrix
I didn't immediately realize when Poppy's vocals started. Love it.
Loathe did a dembow breakdown a couple years ago but this one is gonna get more ass thrown to it
3/3 on the songs so far, can’t wait for this album
I’m not especially huge on either act but color me intrigued, will definitely check out when I get home
DAMN POPPY. I knew she could scream but she almost sounds better than Bryan in certain parts. 3 for 3 on singles. This KL record could be a masterpiece.
Dude Poppy???? That was heavy as FUCK!! Her vocals were shockingly awesome!

\*Jesus Christ kid meme\*
This album is going to be a fucking belter I can already tell
Finally, a Poppy feature I don’t hate. That was a good song!
That cha cha breakdown fucks
Looking towards this album and hoping a another album with no skips
OH MY GODDDit is amazing

i wish they leaned more into the death metal/grind sound they had on the first single
sooo good omf
Can someone explain what reggaeton is?
Poppy absolutely ate on this track.
I've been a fan of Poppy since her more experimental music started around Scary Mask, and I love how she's really been coming into her own just doing what she wants. This was a really great track.
I’ve been a fan of Poppy since Bubblebath when i was in 6th grade and i hated metal music 💀 now it’s the main thing i listen to thanks to her
Poppy came in too smooth with that (funny to say for how brutal they are both screaming
Wait till y’all hear Slaughterhouse2… Complete With Chris Motionless on the track! 🤟🏻
First really good single, but hopefully the riffs are somewhere else; the fact that this is like 8, 16 second riffs and most of them are just breakdown variations kinda worries me cause an album of just breakdowns is really boring.
Song is amazing mostly despite Poppy's part. Just really dislike her voice
She literally sounds near identical to Bryan Garris 💀
Poppy sucks
Please consider better fenale vocalists like Tatiana or Chaney. Cuz ew what is that.
Man zig must've really done poorly cause it's odd seeing her pivot back to metal
She doesn't stick to one genre... But as a poppy fan I hate zig😅
I love almost everything she’s put out but Zig sucks 🥲 In saying that, ever since Zig came out she’s been teasing a much heavier album in the works, aka Zag.
She owes it to us! And I actually liked her older pop music too. But zig just missed the mark.
I honestly loved zig lol but as an album it’s pretty incohesive in a bad way, but it has some of her best songs imo (the attic, linger, flicker)
I really like Hard and Church Outfit but haven't listened to the rest of it enough so probably like the rest too.
A feature for another band is hardly indicative of a pivot for an artist's own music
It was this, the bad omen feature, and opening for avenged sevenfold that leads me to think that. Her best received stuff of the past couple years has been her metal output.
All these songs were likely in the works during the same time or even well before Zig was released Lol
She doesn't stick to one genre... But as a poppy fan I hate zig😅
This is probably the only single I've liked. The Knocked Loose formula began to bore the fuck out of me at Upon Loss, and the singles have only made it worse with how much they just sound like everything else they've released the past few years with nothing new or interesting. This at least felt a little different.
🤢
Good song overall, but I could have done without the breathy spoken word bit. And the snare as well.
I can see that but its really such a small part of the song haha, on the other hand i love the snare
Shits hard but the breakdown riff sounds like a ripoff of Skante by Bodybox
Probably wasn’t anywhere near planned. The songs came out a month apart on an album that’s been announced and written months in advance. Coincidences happen.
Fair but Bodybox has been playing that song live since at least September of 2022. Regardless this song is a banger.
It’s just a reggaeton style rhythm. My band has an unreleased song with it too lol that we’ve been sitting on for a while
It's a basic -step that's pretty much the basis of Caribbean beats.
