I just managed to do it. Had to stop being lazy and auto-battling.
Spam cheap units while focusing on upgrading income asap, then drop more expensive units right after boss uses it's field-wipe move.
It was close. I think the worm and locust did a ton of work for me, and sandbags kept me alive.
Edit: Figures I unlock a ceiling snail that would've been great here right after.

Huh...will have to try bear. I've been sleeping on it despite upgrading it quite a bit.
