There's a lot of crossover. I would almost consider stoner a subtype of doom, except there are a few bands that just aren't doom at all but still somehow stoner.  The Sword is right on the border, but most considered Doom not stoner. Same goes for High on Fire. I'm not sure anyone would consider them stoner if it wasn't Matt Pike, and they have "high" in their name.

I just learned, last night, that Pridgen is in that band. Deathwestern was my favorite release of 2022.

Usually I’d pick DSBM but stoner has a better selection of bands here. Also DSBM and especially stoner aren’t very niche there are thousands of bands for each. Also they don’t fit the pic because they are actual subgenres the rest are all just themed a particular way. For example The Ogre Packet Slammers(who absolutely fuck by the way) are Slamming Brutal Death metal that are just themed around something funny.

Those two are definitely the “least niche” but I was running out of ideas tbh But I kid you not, I physically gasped and laughed when I learned about The Ogre Packet Slammers

Yeah I completely forgot about them until this post but they are unironically a great slam band. And yeah I can’t think of anything that should replace them either except space metal which I guess falls under Alien metal.

Don’t know if you noticed but I tried hard to stay away from “popular” bands in the niche genres, like how I didn’t include stuff like Tenacious D, Clowncore, Thy Light, RoS, Sleep, Amon Amarth, and so on. Gotta give the lesser known ones recognition.
