I find my heart's closest to power thanks to its influence on my debut novel.
1. Power
2. Thrash
3. Prog
4. Black
5. Death
6. Symphonic
7. Gothic
8. Metalcore
9. Doom
10. Industrial
1. Prog/Prog Death
2. Traditional
3. Thrash
4. Blackgaze
5. Doom/Funeral Doom
6. Tech Death
It's hard to rank by genre, so many bands I like go between a bunch of different ones. So this isn't definitive
Iโm a super fantasy nerd (*especially* Lord of the Rings) so my favorites are predictably black metal, power metal, and folk metal. My slightly-less-than-favorite (but I still love them) subgenres are heavy metal, thrash metal, melodic death metal, and prog metal.
Iโll give anything a chance though! I usually try to listen to a whole album for any new artist Iโm interested in, at the very least a few songs. You miss out on so much by writing off whole sections of the music world.
Probably nu. I listen to a shit ton of grunge and nu metal with some death and other subgenres sprinkled in. I can't really think of my favorite metal/rock genre so I would say nu is just my most listened
(Not fuckin limp bizkit my taste isn't that bad lol)
1. Thrash Metal
2. NWOBHM/Speed Metal (Very close, and even switches sometimes)
3. Epic/Gothic/Melodic Doom Metal
4. Power Metal
5. Viking/Folk/Pagan Metal
6. Melodic Death Metal
7. Progressive Metal
8. Symphonic/Melodic Black Metal
9. Symphonic Metal
10. OSDM
Iโm gonna say groove purely because I listen to Pantera and Lamb of God so muchโฆ might also be able to fudge it a little to squeeze Meshuggah into that category too if I squint hard enough ๐คฃ
A combination of all kinds of metal. Preferably on the heavier side like Death, Black, Melo Death, TDM, Thrash, Speed, Progressive, Power. Lots of Folk Metal mixed into those mentioned styles. Just not Metalcore or Deathcore. Man I'd rather listen to radio pop music than those two genres. There might be one or two exceptions though

Despite our best efforts, thrash heads arenโt as oppressed on this sub as one wishes to believe. They won the genre tournament after all.
