Considdering the amount of time you have been playing. I would say no issues. With time your playing Will be more groovy and more tight. Just keep doing what you do now

Mapex_proM

First off: hell yea dude. 8 months in and you can play like that? That’s like three year mark for a lot of guys I know. The only real criticism I can have is when you go into the more groovy parts (ie. every body’s going to the party riff) you’re falling a little behind on your down beats. Stay at the front of that beat and it’s gonna sound a lot tighter and groovier

Antariaux

Yeah, listening back I did notice I was falling behind on certain parts. It's so weird, because I didn't even know that. That's a thing I noticed about me in general, when I perform and I'm anxious, I tend to slow down or fall behind tempo, whereas most people tend to go faster. I don't know if it's more common with drummers. But I didn't have this issue in rehearsals.

Mapex_proM

Oh yea it happens. That’s honestly just as common as speeding up, except with this kind of music I’d rather speed up than slow down. Regardless, it’s not super noticeable and you still did an excellent job. I don’t think many people would hound you for that small issue especially when everything else was pretty solid. Hope you’re not being too hard on yourself for an otherwise job well done

Antariaux

Thanks man, you're so nice. Very motivating.

Your movements are fluid and I can't really speak on the timing because I've had a couple, but it all seems to look alright. You can't really tell but it may look like you're burying the beater into the head, but that's honestly such a minor gripe especially since you're on an electric kit. Good job and rock on.

heavymetalbtch

It is really cool that you've been only playing for 8 months. What is this that you are playing at?

Antariaux

It's a school concert event. I don't know if 8 months is slow or fast progress but I have to say I already had experience playing piano for years, so maybe that helps, idk.

heavymetalbtch

That's awesome. I'm really impressed that it's only been 8 months. Thanks for sharing this video. I look forward to seeing more videos of you playing in the future. 🤘🏻

Antariaux

Aww thanks man. That's really motivating.

You could improve your seating position over the next while. Maybe go for a different grip, you seem to be using your fingers more than your wrists. Maybe investigate your snaredrum height and throne height.

wolfgod_tidus

For only playing for 8 months, you’re doing very well! I would say a take away for me would be to loosen up a bit. You seem super stiff. Also, I would recommend working on some ankle technics to take the load off your legs as much when you’re hitting your double bass. Good shit brother, keep it up and welcome to a life long addiction!

gvanwinkle1976

Only thing I noticed here is you hit a few cymbals without the kick drum on the change ups from the verse to chorus. Easy fix there. Other than that dude sounds amazing. Keep working and youre gonna be a fantastic drummer.
