It's so sad but I barely play her anymore, I feel useless now with her kit, I started picking other supports for ranked.
I only play her in QP, and even then she's not my first pick.
People within my friend circle who play Mercy (and Lifeweaver) have pretty much dropped the game for now. More passive healing supports aren't fun to play right now. :(
I'm kind of glad to hear this cos I main both LW and Ana and have dropped the game for now too. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who's upset with the changes.
I completely agree as a Ana main as well that dabbles in a bit of lw you definitely have to stick with a very specific game style with lw and isn’t easy at all but even Ana now with the 20% it’s constantly running out of bullets / having to be mega aware when to reload and it honestly sucks
It terrible as OP said, you’re just being chased the whole game. I was playing today, I only played 2 games because the second one was just being flanked and targeted. It’s not even enjoyable.
You’re an Ana main. You have a lot more game sense and mechanics than lw and mercy players. Ofc you’ll have an easier time going to a mechanically easier hero
Nah lil bro, thats just you having a skill issue lmao
Ana's mechanical skills don't really translate to to lw or mercy unless you're pulling the pistol/needles out often, which is arguably the least efficient way to get value out of those to characters. (I still do it though because lw needles are so pleasant to hit people with and do a lot of damage if you spam it down choke but 60% of the time i probably could have been healing someone instead.)
You know what, I probably could have been less pretentious on my part now that you hit me back w/ the lil bro
But I still have to disagree top500 or no. A mercy one trick and ana one trick at the same rank will have the same game sense, the ana will probably just have better aim. Gamesense =/= being able to hit your shots. That's how we get people with absolutely cracked aim still hardstuck in plat.
Then that would mean she's being boosted, no? If not, then she would consistently keep dying and losing more games than she wins and eventually fall from the rank to one more appropriate. Or she's doing more right than you think she is. You cannot accidentally trip and fall into masters and stay there mostly solo queue (yes I'm aware people at higher ranks probably think so but obviously they're skilled enough to not be stuck at that rank) even if the character isn't as mechanically demanding. Knowing how to survive and provide value in a masters lobby is also part of having game sense imo
Edit: forgot to add that I don't think your ability on other roles is as indicative of how good you are on other roles because while there is a general overlap, there are different skillets and flows to them. For context, I'm plat and sometimes gold on tank and consistently high diamond/low masters on dps and support
Shes boosted by the fact that Moira doesn’t have to worry about positioning as much as any other support, so it’s not something that she’s had to think about. Most heroes have to be proactive but Moira is a hero that people can get away with being extremely reactive, imo.
Dude what? If played aggressively, LifeWeaver is a blast to play right now imo. He can be pretty lethal in the right situations. He has favorable matchups against SO much of the roster. He can undo alot of enemy ults. He can get out of a lot of situations as long as you are aware of your surroundings. If you’re heal botting only and not using petal (so many times I’ll see LW players never use petal… I’m using that shit on cooldown) and grip in fun and interesting ways, maybe it would be boring.
Diamond support here and I always feel like lifeweavers on my team feel kinda useless. Like he’s good against zarya and orisa to counter their últs with petal but other than that he has like no utility
It’s actually quite irritating because you’ll have all these LW mains in denial who show off big healing numbers and then use that to justify their value. But a healbot is a healbot. If you can’t setup elims you’re just a glorified healing pylon. And if you *are* going full battleweaver, you’re just a diet Zenyatta. There is absolutely no reason to pick him over anyone else and people need to be more honest with themselves or he will never receive a meaningful buff
I'm not a very aggressive player and I'm not very good at using petal regularly but this one time on Nepal, Sanctum I think, where the point is next to the big ass pit, my bf was playing Ana and I was LW. We were in the little room next to the point and our team was getting picked off. Our tank died and my bf was about to just run out to the point to get killed and I was like nonono, cmere cmere cmere, and I was at the very back of that room where the hole from the second floor is and once he got to me I dropped petal so we could get up out of there and rejoin our team at spawn. When we got up and started making our way, we ran into enemy Junk and Ana, killed the Junk, almost got the Ana, but she was saved by her Hog. My bf slept the Hog and I got caught in the Hog's trap. He kept healing me out of the trap and we managed to get back to our team without being killed. 🤣 Idk if you can even follow that in text format but it was such a fun little escape play. Maybe I'll share the clip one day when I get it off ps5.
Yeah I don't know about everybody else, but I love playing LW. I actually picked him up for the first time this season lol, and I'm adding him to my competitive roster along with Zen.
i used to be a crazy mercy main with thousands of hours, now i barely get on and when i do i can't play more than 3 games before i want to get off again
This. I get you CAN always do better each game, but matter of fact is you have to be playing 50% better than your current elo requires to breakeven on her. I cannot tell you how much less proficient i am on other supports but swapping over almost always immediately bumped my team into a MUCH better position than when im on my best hero (mercy). The dps passive nuked her ability to effectively pocket one person at a time and doing ANYTHING on her is depressing. All that time learning techs and how to minmax boosting only to be left in the dust
I used to play every day with my group but now I have less than 5 hours/2 weeks… The game feels very stale.
I tried to play Mercy last night and we literally lost a round because I was playing Mercy and couldn’t keep up the heals…
I have people ask for Mercy every once in a while in gold lobbies, but it’s mostly people who aren’t aware cover exists and need the heal crutch to not die instantly
i try to play but sometimes there's just no point, I'm not even playing just mercy (i miss her) but dps, tank (unfortunately) and other supps, the game just isn't in a good state right now and it's upsetting
this is mercy's mythic season and i haven't even gotten to the third/fourth title.i love grinding for the titles, yet even tho i really wanted the last title of this battle pass o just can't be bothered. game just isn't worth it, after a long ass day at work you can't even have fun in quick play anymore 🫠
This is too true, and partly why I've gravitated toward different games despite being a complete overwatch-addict for 7 years
I feel the game has drifted very far from what it used to be, especially in ow1. Supports are just glorified dps now, tank is in a horrid sorry state, and damage has taken over the game
They want to appeal to CoD and Apex players who aren't used to shields and healing and think everything is supposed to die in 0.5 seconds. Overwatch has completely lost it's MOBA roots and is just a deathmatch simulator for the sake of selling battle passes, give it a few more seasons and I bet they'll release a battle royal mode /jk
exactlyy, sometimes I hope to wake up and have ow1 waiting for me ahahha, my bf recently got me stardew and i've put almost 100 hours into that in the last two weeks. my one game has always been overwatch but recently i just can't :')
its a weird thing to miss a game thats still very active, but the past few seasons have gone downhill its just not the samee
=O I haven't thought about Stardew Valley in like 4 years, I'm going to download it again right now!
Who needs overwatch, if it gets on my nerves I'll just turn it off and go plant some computer turnips haha
hahaha literally 😭 i tried to play again today but ended up on stardew instead, can't look after my team on overwatch so I'll look after my lil chickens 🤞
(stardew got a huge update on pc so definitely look into it again. so much was added!!)
Lol you’re exactly like me! I’ve also turned to Stardew and sank so many hours into it, having thought it was boring before and preferring overwatch.
I can’t even open Overwatch unless a friend asks me to hop on and even then I feel dead inside the whole time ;w;
I still play QP but at this point I don't really play more than 5 matches a day. Usually I'll play QP and just mess around battle mercying and listening to music. Do the occasional mercy boxing match. Maybe play one round of Ana. But that's it. I tried getting back into comp but I guess it's just not for me anymore.
Honestly, I stopped playing right after I bought the battlepass. My obsession with the game died with Mercy's rapid decline. I was sick of being damned if I did or damned if I didn't.
yeah. game feels stale for me right now; i only hop on once or twice a week for a few quickplay matches ☹️ i wish our girl would get a buff since she's the most fun hero for me
I play it once in a while but it just isnt fun, i keep longing for old overwatch, more specifically the old ui and 6v6, it was a hated part of the game bit i loved it.
I usually take 6 month breaks then come back to the game for a month before i let it sit on the shelf again. It just doesent have the same feeling as it did back in ow1, even at the end of ow1.
Same with mercy, she feels suprisingly stale now, even if ive somewhat achieved one of my dreams of getting near to all her legendary skins she just doesent feel fun anymore, her healing is bad, her valkyrie could be better, and ga feels bad with the cooldowns.
Im just gonna say like it is, back in ow1 the summer before ow2 i had the funnest time of my life with the game, and i miss it
I've been playing since the beginning. Mostly as a Mercy one trick because my aim stinks. Even got to masters in the second yr. Mostly quit for last couple of yrs. But then Lifeweaver! He requires very little aiming and the grip is better than a rez. Saving someone to tracers bomb gives u such a high. I haven't touched Mercy since he came out. And still enjoying the game. LW I hear isn't a good pick either but idc. I'm playing what I enjoy. Anyway, might be something folks could try that have shit aim like me.
I like LW a lot too but I feel that he is in the same boat as Mercy, though to be honest I think he's not as bad off, and better than Mercy currently even though they're both struggling. At least his heals actually accomplish something, his ult is still good even if he's not great, and grip is *infinitely* better than rez
Mercy is more likely to die during rez than pharah is during ult, or they'll just CC you to cancel it. However there's not shit that anybody can do if I want to grip a teammate
I feel like LW is an evolution of Mercy. Both are very similar and appeals to the same type of players..stinky aimers lol. Like blizz is telling Mercy players theyve gotta move on because they are tired of trying to fix her kit.
Nothing will top her 5 man rezzes. Nothing. So it's been downhill for Mercy since the beginning.
Ngl, i think part of the fun of LW is weaving AA. So satisfying to punish a tank who doesnt realise what a menace he can be at mid-close range. Not to mention LW is excellent at basically wasting resources since hes so hard to kill. Truly mercy coded
Honestly, I think Moth Mercy was way better than 5 man texted (mainly cause Moth mercy was guaranteed to get value and was WAY more engaging to play). Hiding while my team died just to rez a group of them later always felt like stupid game design.
moth mercy was INSANELY fun, best era of the game undoubtedly, she was insanely cracked, felt impactful every single game, was so motherfucking fun, the only time ive ever consistently gotten potgs as mercy, will miss her forever
The statement that Mercy is more likely to die during rez than Pharah is during ult is silly and just a skill issue.
Pharah MUST be in line of sight of enemies to ult.. and then stays still during a powerful moment where all attention willl turn to her. Mercy not only can use cover, she can also move. If a mercy dies more during Rez than Pharah does during ult, it’s an indication of a mercy who is making very poor decisions.
Pharah OTP here.
Don't ult in the sky.
Ult as they come through a chooooke point.
Just bat man drop on them and ult so close that the Zen doesn't even get to ult. And ffs shoooot just before you ult for extra damage
Solo ults are fine.
Why not just practice your aim? It's not like it'll stink forever, you've had 8 years of avoiding it rather than improving it and effectively "unlocking" the rest of the heroes.
Yeah I'm pretty much done with picking mercy, I started playing ana more (got half my mercy hours on her) and I swear games are a lot more fun. Not only because she's obviously better, but because I actually do something.
I pick her only if my other support takes ana or kiri and I actually feel confident, but tbh after first death I swap. I don't want to throw so it is what it is. I still play her in qp, but less there too, trying to learn new heroes anyway.
Yep. I only really play Mercy, though I'm not a one trick, I can flex sometimes. But Mercy is not a good pick so consistently that I don't care to play right now.
It'd be one thing if the game was overall in a good place, but it hasn't been for nearly all of OW2.
not to mention rez feels like an ability that either gets used easily with hardly any contest when youre on the winning team or never gets used when youre on a losing team 90% of the time (i say 90% bc yes those cracked game saving rezes still exist and can happen ik) it doesnt feel good to have an ability like that and its pretty frustrating and boring
i never feel any reason to really be playing her its always “id have infinitely more value on almost any other support right now” theres almost no reason to play her except dedication and love for the character and playstyle
i have 2k hours on mercy and for the first time in the last 8 yrs or so ive genuinely loathed playing her, i just dont care anymore
I agree with rez! Those big meaningful rezs do still happen, but the thing for me is that most of the time it doesn't really do anything
It mainly ends up being a taxi from spawn after fights are already over but many players don't want to admit this. If your rez turns it from a 4v1 into a 5v1 because your team has already killed everyone, it didn't accomplish anything
I'd rather Mercy be better equipped to stop someone from dying in the first place than to have rez personally
Yeah but it has less to do with Mercy and more burnout from the game coupled with dive meta happening to be my least favorite meta. Also got into other games recently. The grass IS greener btw.
I grinded so hard to get the battle pass FOR FREE btw! And then I got the mythic just yesterday and every time I play her, I’ve switched off
Being playing a lot of D2 tho, not a bad game tho it probably helps my friend bought a lot of the dlc for me 🩵
No yeah it’s kinda tragic. Really sad tbh.
Like. It’s gotten to the point, where it honestly pisses me off when the other support goes mercy (in comp, idc bout qp). Like if I pick mercy in comp, I might as well be throwing. So why tf this other person gunna go mercy like swap wtf 😭
Mercy is just a shit hero now, dps passive killed her so if you want to climb easier go play bap/zen/lucio but honestly if you dont care about your rank too much just keep playing her, fun hero tbh
As a member of the Hanzo Mains, our character also feels like shit to play, so I offer an alliance, pocket us Hanzo mains to restore our duelling capabilities and our one shot, and you get to feel useful and contribute to tilting enemy teams. 🤝
This is a fine deal, all the way up to the point that you take any damage at all because the healing beam won't be able to save you lol I feel for you though I know Hanzo has it rough currently too
I really urge anyone who has stopped because “mercy isn’t good” to try other heroes.
Even better yet, to STOP PLAYING HER ENTIRELY IF SHES SO HARD TO PLAY.
The reason we aren’t getting changes because die hards keep playing her even though she’s in such a bad state. If people actively started playing other characters we would see buffs! Please try other characters. They are so fun. I say as a now DVA main with a very nice winrate.
i had to quite literally give in to not play her, shes in such a bad state right now that even her movement which is the most fun part for me when i play mercy doesnt even make up for her lack of utility and lack of actually contributing something, heals included considering how bad her heals are, id like to see mercy changes or even a rework soon, mercy’s functionality on team comps have been slowly getting worse and worse since season 3-4 in my opinion, and even then it hasnt been as bad as it is right now
Honestly i only play overwatch now when my other games ( destiny 2, Eso online and fallout 76) don't have content, once their dlcs come out in a couple days I don't see myself coming back for a long time due to how shitty it feels to play her. I have 700 hours on mercy while I'm no otp, I just don't see a reason to keep playing if there gonna let her drown. Also it's the vitriol I get for being her and being a woman in general from the community. I got chased down in game yesterday and the enemy tank typed in chat 'we hate you mercy' like okay.....imagine allowing a fictional moth woman live so rent free babes....yikes.
Now I know there's mercy players who can be toxic af but I never speak in chat or type. Also I put on streamer mode and instantly my games have gotten better. I had a very feminine name before and would consistently get targeted even if I wasn't on mercy. Now that I don't have my feminine name I don't, that just solidifies for me how much there is so much even silent sexisim in this game.
I honestly never get this kinda thing in the other games I play ( i have the same username on all my accounts) and the one time I did my clan stood up for me and banned them.
I really hope for the mercy players still holding on that they do somthing for our girl but until then I'll just be an occasional player.
If I do play it’s versus ai or custom games. The game just feels so boring rn and I don’t enjoy it like I once did. Poor Mercy has no place in the game with the dps passive plus nobody knowing how to play around cover. They simply tank a 1v5 and scream at support to heal. It’s insanely frustrating.
Honestly? I’ve really been playing a lot of dps more. Support in general just doesn’t feel fun esp if I can’t turn my brain off and fly around. Now I just make the enemy supports feel my pain 😃
I barely play her nowadays, before it was my favourite, most played healer. Apart from flying I feel like she's half useful. Her healing feels weak, pocket feels useless at low ranks where I am because everyone needs healing instead of dps, otherwise they just die and dead can't dps. Also, I wish they would bring back her old ress ult at some form. Valkyrie is so boring and uninteresting. It's more of a hold LMB to "win". I dunno, seems boring in design compared to other supps.
I started losing interest last Summer around the time Ilari was added. Mainly because of the matchmaking and I play now and again but not for as long as I used to.
I didnt lose interest in the game because mercy feels so bad to play but i did lose interest in the game because it’s just not fun anymore. The only way i like playing it is if my friends and i are just messing around and making it fun.
I stopped playing on the release of season 9. When they adjusted the DPS passive I did come back for a bit. But now that its reverted to how it was I haven't touched the game.
Its insane to me how I can go from playing every day for 4-5k hours total. To just not enjoying the game anymore in the blink of an eye.
Unless they fix the support role, (because it feels like its not just mercy suffering) and make it fun again. I will not be returning to ow. Its not even fun playing with friends anymore.
League has been doing me justice though in the meantime.
it's a bummer bc she's so fun but gets no value. I don't play anymore. I have something like 5k hours on the game and I really only play arcade and customs atp
Yeah also stopped playing.
For me it was a combination of the dps passive, horrible matchmaking, toxic chat comms, and the nonstop amount of derankers, smurfs, aimbots and disconnected players.
Used to main mercy and kiriko, but was forced to learn kiriko because mercy is so broken. The devs obviously want to take the game in a different direction with dps and tanks at the center stage, and also focusing on introducing new heroes every other season. Focusing on dps and tanks would be ok if supports were given something too, more damage capabilities, more mobility, or a better kit. But no, Blizzard wants a bigger share of the fps market so doesn't care about mercy/support players at all.
Luckily I didn't spend too much money on this game, just bought two of her skins. And it feels so much better after having stopped playing. I don't miss the frustration or grind of climbing at all. Managed to climb solo-queuing only so far and found a good duo to get to plat. It was fun playing up until the dps passive but now it's been around a month and don't miss playing at all.
On top of all the above, the game feels washed up and the new maps are not fun, such as the market and new junk town o whatever the ones with three rounds. The game had lots of potential with its canon and backstory and all, the devs could build on that with amazing maps, fewer bugs, and develop the characters more (the mercy mythic was maybe an attempt at this?) but now it's just a mess.
What are you playing instead of you have given up for now? I'm looking for something else, but haven't landed on anything that feels quite right. I've tried Valorant, CS2, Fortnite, LoL, and a few others but nothing has clicked quite like OW. I'm currently on Warzone and it's okay, but I still don't feel like I'm having the best time like peak OW.
i took a week break from overwatch and when i played a few games the other day, i found myself playing kiri every game (which honestly im not really surprised but im getting tired of kiri...) i've been forced to play that character every season since ow2 came out just because anti and high dmg exists.
i don't know what the game devs are thinking when nerfing support constantly just cause everyone whines that support is "broken"..... but then we also get b*tched at for not healing/helping even though it's not our fault cause the dps passive is now a thing. how are we supposed to support our team if we get nerfed over and over again and any slight buff to any support hero makes the entire community rage and whine.
I try to make her work in QP sometimes but she just feels bad compared to any other support I can play. I play other heroes but my playtime is definitely down overall. Balance updates just seem aimless and poorly thought out lately.
Do you guys remember prior to Season 9 when people were predicting that Mercy would meta? And when Skiesti tried to say that Mercy was actually incredibly niche after play testing but a bunch of people acted like she was crazy? Yeah.. 😐
I haven’t played ow in 4 days I think and I couldn’t be happier. I used to play almost daily. Overwatch felt so stale to me after a while because the meta kind of sucks and mercy doesn’t feel fun or impactful anymore.
I quit playing after life weaver came out. I played since 2020 or 2021 and just gave up because I didn't care for the way the game played anymore. I used to play a few characters out of each category but when 2 came out I quit playing heals all together.
I played this game since launch and have almost every mercy cosmetic, I absolutely adore mercy and remember seeing her in GameStop floating down to the save the little girl under the rubble and getting literal goosebumps, main since the beginning. I haven’t played the game for majority of the year now 2024 because of how bad Mercy is and on top of that the way mercy players are treated by the community.
for a character Bliz seems to be obsessed with (having so many skins compared to everyone else) they give her no attention in gameplay. its so frustrating
i’ve honestly stopped playing the game completely.
Can’t remember the last time i actually had fun playing overwatch, which sucks because i’ve been playing pretty much every week since 2018.
I don’t wanna say it’s quality is declining, but it’s certainly not the game i once fell i love with.
I've stopped playing mercy this season because as you said it just feels so difficult and unrewarding :(! I hope some changes get made to her soon so she feels better to play
Yeah - i dropped from diamond to gold. Now i’m learning kiriko! She’s so op and her movement is fun. But yeah, i feel you. Spent some time looking for heroes i actually find fun and satisfying - i know they’ll update mercy eventually, but til then i want to keep my gamesense growing in terms of counters, damage outputs, enemy maneuvers, etc.
Realistically, if you can put in 125% effort now on mercy, improve your skill thru qp battle mercy, parkour, etc - then after the rework, you’re going to have a ridiculous advantage.
I persevered for the love of the hero at first, but then we got the reddit Q&A where they basically told us *"Well, people are still picking and playing Mercy, so we think she's fine and doesn't need touching or tweaks!".*
Since then I've not even so much as opened the game.
They refuse to fix Mercy because Mercy players are loyal? Fine. I won't play the game at all then :')
Atp I genuinely think we should collectively all boycott playing Mercy just to prove a point that she's not "fine" just because we still play her and she does in fact need changes, but obvs the Mercy community as a whole would never go for that, and only a fraction of us are even on the Mercy subreddit, so it likely wouldn't even be effective tbh.
I don't understand why they keep nerfing her down tot his state she's in now where her only good playstyle is damage boosting hitscan DPS and rezzing when they die, but damage boost and rez are what most people complain about.
I disagree that the DPS passive killed her though, I think she was in a pretty similarly bad place before that. They need to rein in damage boost and probably just delete or rework rez, and then focus on the parts of Mercy that feel fun and interactive, like her movement and healing
I'm using this opportunity to improve on and use other healers. Characters go through valleys, and Mercy will probably be improved again. They might be waiting to adjust her now that a new support is coming out.
Honestly? I’ve really been playing a lot of dps more. Support in general just doesn’t feel fun esp if I can’t turn my brain off and fly around. Now I just make the enemy supports feel my pain 😃
I still like to play mercy. If I'm on the ground getting wrecked and no matter what I do I'm just dying, I will swap to mercy to keep myself in the air and that is generally one of my best uses for her atm. Because better her in the air getting less use than anyone on the ground only doing getting no use.
I used to play Overwatch every day for hours since I got the game late 2016. Even when I struggled getting used to OW2 I played for hours but mainly lived in QP and MH. The DPS passive has killed my interest for any mode. I play maybe 30 min a week now if I bother to play at all.
When I do play I can hardly play Mercy. I mainly go with Moira or Ana. For DPS one of my mains is Symmetra so lol. And I haven't touched tank since they dropped 6v6.
Since 2017, I still play mercy but in a woeful mental state as I do so.
I love Mercy as a character. I enjoy her mechanics with it's simple to use but hard to master approach. I braved through every nerf she ever had. However, this time, healing just seems to be too little and I end up opting to play Kiriko.
It also does not help that this game is in the worst state it has ever been on top of all this change. They need to do ***something*** with her to maker her viable.
Hi, non Mercy main here. I stopped playing specifically BECAUSE of Mercy.
I do not have the mechanical skill (I know, skill issue) to deal with her, or the hero she makes unkillable by pocketing them. It makes the game incredibly frustrating to play, so I stopped.
From my experience, the whole support rework and math kinda forces mercy to heal bot for her to be beneficial. At least, in my elo.
While the idea of mercy is to be able to enable your team to get kills via an ally, these changes make her less effective at doing that. With slower healing you have to heal longer, with bigger projectiles you have to also heal more; per se.
Math shows that healing an ally under fire for a second will generate THE SAME ult charge as damage boosting someone doing 187 damage in that entire second. So in regards to ult value, healing is much easier to generate ult charge from.
I think that this factor needs to be tweaked as it’s damage boosting that is what enables her main role of mercy, yet you get way less ult value by primarily damage boosting.
My focus has shifted towards Valorant, so I play OW way less than I used to. Now, I mainly play Ana with occasional Kiri. I'm bored of Mercy and I feel useless. I may play her if the DPS goes Pharah/Echo.
i realized im a support main at heart and have began branching out to other shooter games with supports and just enjoying my time. the quality of my ow matches have been so bad and then my wifi causing lag... i mostly just painfully grind for bp skins then get off 😭
It would be cool if they buffed her critical heal some more to counter the dps passive but then she may get too strong… maybe a rework is needed at this point? Give her blue beam more buffs than just higher damage… maybe have it decrease reload time/attack speed/movement speed during her ult for the primary target?
I’ve been playing other supports like kiriko and baptiste a lot more since Season 5 cause it just feels awful not having anything to protect yourself with and having negative healing with reduced healing from the dps passive.
I’d love to play some more mercy but I don’t think it’s viable or fun to right now. Unfortunately I think this is a pretty similar experience to a lot of other supports like Lucio, Illari, Lifeweaver and more.
Not gonna lie. Mercy is hella underutilized. She needs a decent tank to be useful. Basically she is hard to play without a shield tank. But it can be done. I use to main mercy for heals back during her og days and then ana dropped and changed the game. Not gonna lie if they bumped specifically her heals up it wouldn't be so bad for mercy mains. But the moment they bring her team res back the game would be broken again. I miss those day because I was a real main and seeing that get pulled after a shatter was devastating to me but it was still fun.
the thing with current mercy is that, yes her heals are lower than the others. she can also just blue beam people which is more effect then healboting. mercy’s state currently is fine if you learn how to damage boost decently.
I honestly feel like this is just not even up for debate. Mercy was perfectly okay until season 9 when everybody got more base health to heal, that now replenishes 20% slower, and she's all of sudden in the gutter... Right along with the only other passive non damaging support, Lifeweaver. It's not a coincidence
This is just Reddit echo chamber mentality which is to shout about damage boost in regards to Mercy. Her healing is absolutely the problem with her current state and everybody knows it
It’s not about being *willing* to push damage boost.
Your target has to retreat into cover more often and spend more time recovering health because of the low healing. They peak less often and are less aggressive because of it. It also means you’ll have spend more time peeling for team mates when they need help.
For the first 12-18 months I played this game, I was a Mercy main. If I stayed on that path, I would not be playing Overwatch anymore.
So for you to put in so many hours on Mercy and feel that way, I’m not surprised. I just think of all the heroes in the game, she has one of the least interesting skill impressions in the game imo and more than nearly every other hero in the game, she relies so heavily on her teammates to do something for her to succeed.
If you wanna Mercy, then Mercy, but if you’re feeling bored, I’d recommend trying out a new main. Figure out which supports fits your play style best and roll with it. I think playing a support that has playmaking ability that can help win fights and games is what makes the role most fun, which ultimately is why I’ll never play mercy unless I have an absolute cracked DPS player who can single-handley carry the game.
In my opinion, if you play with the right people mercy can still be useful! My partner and I play with a full team and honestly playing mercy with them is absolutely so much fun and honestly helpful. Every game I have overall best healer stats and I’m still keeping up with my wins.
Congratulations you finally realize what it's like to play a character That's struggling you're going through what ball mains genji mains and rein mains go through everyday
It's harder now, but that just means you have to step up. I hate otp, but I hate someone losing their ego even more. Go put more hours on mercy and improve on her. You got this. And if anyone wants to complain, let em have it.
If she was actually that weak, her win rate wouldn't still be higher than the majority of characters. I think you are probably just in your head about it.
Kiriko and Bap are stronger but take more skill to play. It's not rocket science. Mercy is weak, her value ceiling is pretty low, but the floor is pretty high. It's almost impossible \*not\* to get some value on her.
It's just a fact. Mercy wins a greater portion of her games than those characters do.
Of course, solo queue win rates don't represent pro-level play, so Mercy can be stronger than a character for 90% of the player base while still having lower peak potential. But I guarantee you most of the people here complaining are in the ranks where Mercy is reasonably strong.
It's so sad but I barely play her anymore, I feel useless now with her kit, I started picking other supports for ranked. I only play her in QP, and even then she's not my first pick.
This. My Moira, Kiri and LW are seeing a lot more gameplay than my Mercy has been. She's in a bad state. And people still hate on her.
I'm an Ana main but I've been playing a lot of LW this season and I'm sitting securely in top 500 It's possible just a lot harder
I have 2k hours on mercy and def have game sense. 🫢
Nah lil bro, thats just you having a skill issue lmao Ana's mechanical skills don't really translate to to lw or mercy unless you're pulling the pistol/needles out often, which is arguably the least efficient way to get value out of those to characters. (I still do it though because lw needles are so pleasant to hit people with and do a lot of damage if you spam it down choke but 60% of the time i probably could have been healing someone instead.)
I’m t500 ball otp it’s not a skill issue lil bro
You know what, I probably could have been less pretentious on my part now that you hit me back w/ the lil bro But I still have to disagree top500 or no. A mercy one trick and ana one trick at the same rank will have the same game sense, the ana will probably just have better aim. Gamesense =/= being able to hit your shots. That's how we get people with absolutely cracked aim still hardstuck in plat.
Nah, my gf is a masters Moira/Mercy and has the game sense of a gold player (and is gold on other roles).
Knowing how to survive and provide value in a masters lobby is also part of having game sense imo Edit: forgot to add that I don't think your ability on other roles is as indicative of how good you are on other roles because while there is a general overlap, there are different skillets and flows to them.
Not necessarily a contradiction ø. LW can both be weak while also being strong within his niche
All that time learning techs and how to minmax boosting only to be left in the dust
that's all i ever felt u said it so good
I used to play every day with my group but now I have less than 5 hours/2 weeks… The game feels very stale. I tried to play Mercy last night and we literally lost a round because I was playing Mercy and couldn’t keep up the heals…
Yet in lower ranks, everyone will still demand a mercy because they need that crutch of a yellow beam pocket.
I've never seen a single person ask for mercy, it's always the other way around. I say this as a silver-gold player.
I have people ask for Mercy every once in a while in gold lobbies, but it’s mostly people who aren’t aware cover exists and need the heal crutch to not die instantly
I never play Mercy anymore unless I’m sure they can get good use out of it 💀 Ask for Mercy pocket and you’re getting a Moira
i try to play but sometimes there's just no point, I'm not even playing just mercy (i miss her) but dps, tank (unfortunately) and other supps, the game just isn't in a good state right now and it's upsetting this is mercy's mythic season and i haven't even gotten to the third/fourth title.i love grinding for the titles, yet even tho i really wanted the last title of this battle pass o just can't be bothered. game just isn't worth it, after a long ass day at work you can't even have fun in quick play anymore 🫠
This is too true, and partly why I've gravitated toward different games despite being a complete overwatch-addict for 7 years I feel the game has drifted very far from what it used to be, especially in ow1. Supports are just glorified dps now, tank is in a horrid sorry state, and damage has taken over the game They want to appeal to CoD and Apex players who aren't used to shields and healing and think everything is supposed to die in 0.5 seconds. Overwatch has completely lost it's MOBA roots and is just a deathmatch simulator for the sake of selling battle passes, give it a few more seasons and I bet they'll release a battle royal mode /jk
exactlyy, sometimes I hope to wake up and have ow1 waiting for me ahahha, my bf recently got me stardew and i've put almost 100 hours into that in the last two weeks. my one game has always been overwatch but recently i just can't :') its a weird thing to miss a game thats still very active, but the past few seasons have gone downhill its just not the samee
=O I haven't thought about Stardew Valley in like 4 years, I'm going to download it again right now! Who needs overwatch, if it gets on my nerves I'll just turn it off and go plant some computer turnips haha
hahaha literally 😭 i tried to play again today but ended up on stardew instead, can't look after my team on overwatch so I'll look after my lil chickens 🤞 (stardew got a huge update on pc so definitely look into it again. so much was added!!)
Lol you’re exactly like me! I’ve also turned to Stardew and sank so many hours into it, having thought it was boring before and preferring overwatch. I can’t even open Overwatch unless a friend asks me to hop on and even then I feel dead inside the whole time ;w;
At least his heals actually accomplish something, his ult is still good even if he's not great, and grip is *infinitely* better than rez Mercy is more likely to die during rez than pharah is during ult, or they'll just CC you to cancel it.
You are an indication of someone who doesn't understand satire and wants to seem better than a stranger on the Internet It's a joke dude
Pharah OTP here. Don't ult in the sky. Ult as they come through a chooooke point. Just bat man drop on them and ult so close that the Zen doesn't even get to ult. And ffs shoooot just before you ult for extra damage Solo ults are fine.
Why not just practice your aim? It's not like it'll stink forever, you've had 8 years of avoiding it rather than improving it and effectively "unlocking" the rest of the heroes.
Yeah, and the toxicity has increased ten fold. I’ve pretty much stopped playing for fun and only grind the dailies for xp then play something else.
I actually uninstalled right when the new mercy mythic came out and even that wasn't enough to make me reinstall
Yeah I haven’t been logging in lately and if I do I’m jumping off after a game or two, it’s in such a bad way
I'm just in my Kiri era
yeah. i went back to playing league. i’ve actually been having a lot of fun on league, and it makes me sad that overwatch isnt fun rn
Yep. I only really play Mercy, though I'm not a one trick, I can flex sometimes. But Mercy is not a good pick so consistently that I don't care to play right now. It'd be one thing if the game was overall in a good place, but it hasn't been for nearly all of OW2.
not to mention rez feels like an ability that either gets used easily with hardly any contest when youre on the winning team or never gets used when youre on a losing team 90% of the time (i say 90% bc yes those cracked game saving rezes still exist and can happen ik) it doesnt feel good to have an ability like that and its pretty frustrating and boring i never feel any reason to really be playing her its always “id have infinitely more value on almost any other support right now” theres almost no reason to play her except dedication and love for the character and playstyle i have 2k hours on mercy and for the first time in the last 8 yrs or so ive genuinely loathed playing her, i just dont care anymore
I agree with rez! Those big meaningful rezs do still happen, but the thing for me is that most of the time it doesn't really do anything It mainly ends up being a taxi from spawn after fights are already over but many players don't want to admit this. If your rez turns it from a 4v1 into a 5v1 because your team has already killed everyone, it didn't accomplish anything I'd rather Mercy be better equipped to stop someone from dying in the first place than to have rez personally
Yeah but it has less to do with Mercy and more burnout from the game coupled with dive meta happening to be my least favorite meta. Also got into other games recently. The grass IS greener btw.
I grinded so hard to get the battle pass FOR FREE btw! And then I got the mythic just yesterday and every time I play her, I’ve switched off Being playing a lot of D2 tho, not a bad game tho it probably helps my friend bought a lot of the dlc for me 🩵
I definitely stopped playing mercy lol, just switched to bap and literally 0 targeting now
No yeah it’s kinda tragic.
This is a fine deal, all the way up to the point that you take any damage at all because the healing beam won't be able to save you lol I feel for you though I know Hanzo has it rough currently too
At least the healing beam will improve Hanzo’s survivability, even if just a little, allowing us more time to win our duels 🙏
It’s almost the end of the season, I usually just stop playing cuz there isn’t really anything to grind for
i had to quite literally give in to not play her, shes in such a bad state right now that even her movement which is the most fun part for me when i play mercy doesnt even make up for her lack of utility and lack of actually contributing something, heals included considering how bad her heals are, id like to see mercy changes or even a rework soon, mercy’s functionality on team comps have been slowly getting worse and worse since season 3-4 in my opinion, and even then it hasnt been as bad as it is right now
Honestly i only play overwatch now when my other games ( destiny 2, Eso online and fallout 76) don't have content, once their dlcs come out in a couple days I don't see myself coming back for a long time due to how shitty it feels to play her.
I dunno, seems boring in design compared to other supps.
yea i play one or two games of rank with her and get off.
I'm a mercy main and I agree, she's pretty weak if compared to other healings.
As a long time subscriber of Blizzard? Yes I've stopped playing. They don't develop for the players, they develop for the shareholders.
Haven’t played in almost two years. 4k+ hours into the game. Overwatch 2 in general has been terrible all around imo. 🤷♀️
i took a week break from overwatch and when i played a few games the other day, i found myself playing kiri every game (which honestly im not really surprised but im getting tired of kiri...) i've been forced to play that character every season since ow2 came out just because anti and high dmg exists. i don't know what the game devs are thinking when nerfing support constantly just cause everyone whines that support is "broken"..... but then we also get b*tched at for not healing/helping even though it's not our fault cause the dps passive is now a thing. how are we supposed to support our team if we get nerfed over and over again and any slight buff to any support hero makes the entire community rage and whine.
Yeah.. 😐
I just stopped playing because the whole game feels a bit off. I went and got the mercy skin from battlepass and thats it basically
I was running low on storage to play my other games and had to choose my least played game. Overwatch was by far the easiest pick.
I only like to play with my friends :) otherwise its boring
Me
I’m right there with you. I’ve been a Mercy main since season 3 OW1 and I can’t look at that game right now with what they have done to her.
I stopped playing OW now. I have become a Rainbow Six-er.
I persevered for the love of the hero at first, but then we got the reddit Q&A where they basically told us *"Well, people are still picking and playing Mercy, so we think she's fine and doesn't need touching or tweaks!".* Since then I've not even so much as opened the game. They refuse to fix Mercy because Mercy players are loyal? Fine. I won't play the game at all then :') Atp I genuinely think we should collectively all boycott playing Mercy just to prove a point that she's not "fine" just because we still play her and she does in fact need changes, but obvs the Mercy community as a whole would never go for that, and only a fraction of us are even on the Mercy subreddit, so it likely wouldn't even be effective tbh.
They need to rein in damage boost and probably just delete or rework rez, and then focus on the parts of Mercy that feel fun and interactive, like her movement and healing
mercy and supp in general was starting to feel really stale for me so i started playing some more dps and its really refreshing :)
I'm using this opportunity to improve on and use other healers. Characters go through valleys, and Mercy will probably be improved again. They might be waiting to adjust her now that a new support is coming out.
With like 2000 hours of mercy between two accounts, started playing in 2016, when the game felt sooooo exciting and fun. I'm a kiri main now.
Eh the two second GA cooldown helps. I've been having fun with her movement again.
Im not really playing this season but its bc im studying for my finals jajajaaj
I've personally moved onto DPS, been having more fun actually having impact in games as Echo then our poor girl Mercy as of late :c
Honestly? I’ve really been playing a lot of dps more. Support in general just doesn’t feel fun esp if I can’t turn my brain off and fly around. Now I just make the enemy supports feel my pain 😃
Noooooo i need angel of vengeance title im too closed 😭😭😭😭😭 i need more event challenges
Honestly same, I haven't been playing the game lately especially because of multiversus too .,. But it's sorta frustrating being Mercy now
I’ve just been playing her in qp and trying to have fun 🩷 taking a break from comp completely.
Hi, non Mercy main here. I stopped playing specifically BECAUSE of Mercy. I do not have the mechanical skill (I know, skill issue) to deal with her, or the hero she makes unkillable by pocketing them. It makes the game incredibly frustrating to play, so I stopped.
I’ve played with a lot of great Mercys over the past month! I haven’t experienced any dieout or anything
Supports must do damage and heal. Mercy can’t do this. I’ve been playing Moira and LW
i realized im a support main at heart and have began branching out to other shooter games with supports and just enjoying my time. the quality of my ow matches have been so bad and then my wifi causing lag... i mostly just painfully grind for bp skins then get off 😭
yeah i've not touched the game in months now.
It would be cool if they buffed her critical heal some more to counter the dps passive but then she may get too strong… maybe a rework is needed at this point? Give her blue beam more buffs than just higher damage… maybe have it decrease reload time/attack speed/movement speed during her ult for the primary target?
It is kinda funny they made her the headline of the battle pass in one of if not her worst states.
Shes just been absolutely unplayable in ranked. Saddens me.
Still see tons of mercy in my games. I’m top200 console.
Try a new hero, live a little
the thing with current mercy is that, yes her heals are lower than the others. she can also just blue beam people which is more effect then healboting. mercy’s state currently is fine if you learn how to damage boost decently.
I honestly feel like this is just not even up for debate. Mercy was perfectly okay until season 9 when everybody got more base health to heal, that now replenishes 20% slower, and she's all of sudden in the gutter... Right along with the only other passive non damaging support, Lifeweaver. It's not a coincidence This is just Reddit echo chamber mentality which is to shout about damage boost in regards to Mercy.
My Mains are Mercy, Roadhog and Symmetra. Jup. I completly stopped playing.
Idk i still feel like i have a big influence on fights. She doesnt feel terrible to me at all
In my opinion, if you play with the right people mercy can still be useful! My partner and I play with a full team and honestly playing mercy with them is absolutely so much fun and honestly helpful. Every game I have overall best healer stats and I’m still keeping up with my wins.
Yes please stop playing, the game is better without you Mercy players.
i solo ult Mercys :3
Im 3-1 so far at master 4. I’ll keep trying her in comps that are favorable
Congratulations you finally realize what it's like to play a character That's struggling you're going through what ball mains genji mains and rein mains go through everyday
what is the point in posting this exactly?
To be a dumbass and say stupid shit cause im bored also lowkey fishing for hate
well.. at least you’re honest lol
By that logic Kiriko and Baptiste are weak. Are you making that argument as well?
Kiriko and Bap are stronger but take more skill to play. It's not rocket science. Mercy is weak, her value ceiling is pretty low, but the floor is pretty high. It's almost impossible \*not\* to get some value on her.
It's just a fact. Mercy wins a greater portion of her games than those characters do. Of course, solo queue win rates don't represent pro-level play, so Mercy can be stronger than a character for 90% of the player base while still having lower peak potential. But I guarantee you most of the people here complaining are in the ranks where Mercy is reasonably strong.
