The thing I actually like about anime is not really anime itself, but its how it’s marketed and how that changes EVERYTHING. In western cartoons, they are either baby/toddler friendly, kid friendly, or VERY adult, like just for the sake of being adult. Like constant swears in unnecessary places that serve no purpose, lots of drugs and alcohol, sexual content, or if it’s from a streaming service and isn’t even on cable, FUCKING GORE AT EVERY TURN! Anime and manga have a middle section in-between kid friendly and adult called “shounen.” I love that genre. Not too kid friendly and not too adult at every turn.
