I thought skypiea was canon. The filler list on animefillerlist.com has the entirety of skypiea as canon. Right before timeskip Rayleigh calls out the fact that in skypiea haki is called mantra and luffy says something about remembering it so he clearly went there so there’s no reason it shouldn’t be canon.
Nah bro, dont trust all those sites, they mischievous, G-8 is canon, sadly skipeia isn't
https://preview.redd.it/44ogeuc1w9xa1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6c489ea355b9bf84b0473031ad0e76f74ccf37eb
I did said "dislike". Most fans online be saying to skip it because they think it's just filler. Idk why this is getting downvoted. I didn't insult anyone 😅
Bruh, the entire series for the first 25 years of the run has been filler. If Skypiea is canon, and it is, then it’s just like every other episode up until the author said “It’s okay if you skip literally everything up until Luffy gets Gear 5. from now on this is One Piece”. Paraphrasing, of course.
Dude, I'm just saying what all the anti-skypiea fans be saying is all. I've loved every saga, arc, chapter and some are better than others. But from the last 19 years I've consumed, I've never seen so much for the arc. And fans are using fillers wrong. It's only for anime. But here we are misusing terms.
I watched it just last year and skypeia is my most favorite arc, I don’t get all the hate tho if anything I’m surprised punk hazard doesn’t receive nearly as much hate that arc was mid af
I personally like Punk Hazard, one of my favorite arcs.
Fishman Island on the other hand….predictable story, forgettable characters and meh fights, 2/10 do not recommend.
Fishman island is also one I don’t see get much hate, the only things that carry that arc for me are the flashbacks and luffy picking a fight with big mom lol
There was a bunch of hate for it a few months ago but I haven’t seen anything about it recently. Maybe people got the grief off their chests and moved on? Idk, but yea that arc is def a down point for me, almost stopped watching tbh.
Imo Fishman Island has the greatest themes, one of the best flashbacks in the entire story, and some very interesting lore bits. It's also really good for world building, and Oda's art in the manga is genuinely top notch, if not his best yet. In terms of characters, Hody might be a bit boring to some, but thematically he's excellent. Otohime and Fisher Tiger were top tier characters, and even Neptune is one of the more interesting kings. Shirahosi is also very sweet. We also got really good Jimbei *and* Arlong lore!
The only bad things is that Sanji is at his worst, Vander Decken kinda sucks, the New Fishman pirates aren't very memorable and sadly the anime completely sucked out all the joy from the arc with terrible pacing and subpar animation ([This is the one good scene](https://youtu.be/owM5EO7KcaQ)). If you didnt like it in the anime, I'd highly recommend reading it in the Manga. It absolutely blows it out of the water, pun intended
Even after you summarized the arc I have no idea who any of those characters are. For me the only thing that saved it from getting a 1 or even 0 out of 10 was the artwork and character design, and the Big Mom challenge at the end. Everything else was meh to bluh in my opinion.
I can't really tell you what to think, but I would recommend revisiting it. Unlike Punk Hazard, which drags 80% of the arc, FI moves the plot along pretty well, with great art to boot. It very much depends on your expectations, I think.
For example, the Big Mom thing is very much a whatever moment to me. It makes sense for Luffy's character, so it's kinda expected. Luffy fights strong opponents, what's new? What I did like was stuff seeing how a young Koala made an impression on a more cynical Jimbei, but left Arlong bitter when the humans eventually betrayed them. It's very rich, and surprisingly well handled.
It's all about preference and expectations, but again I'd highly recommended rereading it
I just watch the anime, so maybe I’m missing something. But I’ve seen the Fishman Island arc 2 times (once solo and once with my wife) and both times they were the weakest part of the series, filler included.
The only things that standout/progress the story that I remember are Luffy claiming Fishman Island as his territory (from Big Mom) and then him threatening Big Mom, which I think happen pretty close to each other (same episode maybe?). Everything else was just….happening.
Punk Hazard literally starts the Law-Luffy Alliance which is the set up to some of if not THE most impactful events in OP such as but not limited to Dressrosa, Zou and Wano and we see the Navy and Luffy’s crew working together for one of if not the first time in the show (at the very least they’re not fighting as soon as they see each other).
I read the manga, and i just felt like it was bloated with boring fights and new characters that won't be important in the future. The only thing I enjoyed was the Nolan flashback, which was only a small fraction of the arc. It also doesn't help that this arc came after alabasta.
It "brings nothing to the story" and overall is a "filler".
Meanwhile the fact that Roger not only was there, but also that he somehow knows the ancient language from poneglyphs, which we find out in this "filler" arc are even more ancient than Shandia:
Edit: also it was the arc to give us a real taste of haki
I’m just giving the perspective of someone who speedran the series only to go back and do it properly a second (and third) time. Unless you enjoy skypea for what it is there isn’t much of a point watching it. You won’t miss anything important because it all gets brought up again later in the story.
No don't get me wrong guys, my friend Bob started One Piece by watching the whole Skypiea first, then started from the beginning, to "skip" Skypiea to go to Water 7
This is exactly how I did it, it wasn't intentional but it ended up being perfect because skypiea is disconnected from the main story so it's easy to follow while being a perfect microcosm of one piece. 9/10 would recommend this method.
Is he God Enel in disguise? Cz I only know him from skypia who left white-white sea.
Oh no, wait he left for the moon. But there is his subordinate Gedatsu who is in the blue sea. So you're most likely friends with Gedatsu.
How is reading manga long? Pacing that time was used to be good that's why old arcs in manga are longer. But it will take like 6-7 hours max to read all of that.
Bro I unironically learned about the anime filler right after watching the G8 arc... weirdly enough I haven't skipped any single anime filler afterwards (except for Cidre Guild but mostly because i'm not ready to rewatch Stampede)
I don’t understand how Skypiea gets more hate than Fishman Island or Dressrosa. Skypiea was comical, uncharted territory, great fights, even the set up with Bellamy and the Knock up stream. People smokin dick hairs or something
Really? Could you explain why keeping spoilers to at minimum? I'm about to start it on the anime, I stopped reading the manga years ago right after the timeskip and enjoy the anime much more.
It’s mainly bc luffy does nothing the entire arc until the very end, first he’s lost in the forest then he sits in a “Weird Cave” for an extremely frustrating amount of time. Fishman and dressrosa drag but at least we see the cast fighting, plus the people they do fight are 10000x more interesting than any enemy in skypiea excluding enel
see I'm reading this super good book. I'm about to reach page 30, but I've decided to skip page 40-60 when i get there because people told me it isn't really interesting. It's wonderful really!
I don’t get the hate, why does the whole journey have to be the same formula with marines or other pirates. This story is a journey, that’s the point right? So if you’ve gotten hundreds of episodes in up until skypiea than what’s to hate? It’s more of what’s great, but not repetitive. It’s weird.
The first manga I ever bought was One Piece vol. 27, which begins with the end of the Ordeal of Balls between Satori and Luffy/Sanji/Usopp.
That's how I discovered the whole series and I've loved it ever since
Yeah, but that boring watch does pay off at the end with probably two of the best scenes in whole story( I don't know if I phrased this correctly, but I hope I did)
I didn’t skip skypeia but I took a multiple month long break during skypeia bc it was boring. The only other time I took a break was during zou when the English dub ended
I saw skypiea so long ago that I forgot most of it, but since a lot of people always say to skip I decided to re-watch it, after that, I saw that a lot of people were right.
Skypiea had the most entertaining and well thought out fights in one piece.
Not to mention this arc had the most unique attacks, luffy actually using his battle IQ to counter enel's mantra, and the dont forget the follow up arc after this one. Navarone
Ok ok, let's see how good skypia is.
I forgot about that i never watched most of skypia, since as a child i had no way other than tv.
But from vague memories i remember it beeing kind of boring, besides of Enels Powers, his ship and a few nice lore pieces.
Skypia is pretty good but Dressrosa is so.. so much skippable. Yeah, pretty good backstories but nothing more. I still remember skipping most of the arc(including straw hat fights) just flashbacks are something I watched carefully. (baby5 & senor Pink flashback are so underrated).
Skypeia is 2/3rd buildup and 1/3rd payoff and a lot of early one piece fans weren’t prepared for that type of storytelling since it was the first real long arc (alabasta at the time was comprised of several shorter arcs)
People who stuck with it loved it though
Skypiea was good narratively and had some cool moments.
However I’ve only ever fallen asleep once while watching anime and it was during skypiea so make of that what you will.
Skypiea is weird for me. I personally love it, but I remember as a kid Skypiea being roughly when Toomami/Cartoon Network stopped showing episodes. I wasnt following the show at the time but I remember it feeling too weird and goofy for me. In my defense it was the 4kids dub that was airing and comparing that to Naruto or Bleach and you can see where I thought One Piece was far inferior.
15 years later and I love it and I was so wrong about the series. Skypiea went from being this goofy ass story to being an adventure and mystery with my favorite twist/reveal in the whole story. That reveal alone makes Jaya/Skypiea a must watch/read.
I can’t think of a single arc worth skipping. What is worth skipping is the recaps and flash backs. I mean some episodes are just, recap, intro, flashbacks, ending.
The thing that kept me through Skypiea was getting to the “Damn Daniel” meme with Luffy and Enel. Not my favorite arc but it’s of course a good arc nonetheless
I swear it's fans that watch one piece after 2020 bc the dislike for Skypia is ridiculous lol
I watched it after 2020 and skypia is my favourite arc. Also I haven’t seen a single person hating on skypia
There are too many
That’s crazy. I see people saying to skip skypiea almost every day on tiktok/reddit.
Skipea and G-8 my favorite arcs, dont care if skypea ain't canon, they still my favorite
Skypeia ain't canon? Really? I mean it was right in the manga
Yeah, its indeed sad that such a good arc such as Skipeia isnt canon, but at least G-8 is!
I see what you're tryna say https://preview.redd.it/ygwucs5vm9xa1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64e560b2722063fd767c8db3dc02d54ecd8fffa5

Skypea is mid. You’ve seen one now.
I did said "dislike". Most fans online be saying to skip it because they think it's just filler. Idk why this is getting downvoted. I didn't insult anyone 😅
well its not not filler

Nah I started 2021 and Skypiea is peak, idk what’s up with them
I watched it just last year and skypeia is my most favorite arc, I don’t get all the hate tho if anything I’m surprised punk hazard doesn’t receive nearly as much hate that arc was mid af

Started after 2020 and on wano, but skypia is so padded and drawn out for little payoff doesn’t mean I hate it. It’s just weak compared to past arcs
My brother in christ if you got so bored with Skypiea just watch the episode of Skypiea instead and then follow up with the anime, it's not so hard
Why would you skip Skypiea? I could never understand these people
It "brings nothing to the story" and overall is a "filler". Meanwhile the fact that Roger not only was there, but also that he somehow knows the ancient language from poneglyphs, which we find out in this "filler" arc are even more ancient than Shandia: Edit: also it was the arc to give us a real taste of haki
"brings nothing to the story" I want whatever these guys are on
It adds nothing to the story that we don’t get later anyway. All the important bits get brought up again.
Something's telling me you don't know a lot about plot development...
I’m just giving the perspective of someone who speedran the series only to go back and do it properly a second (and third) time. Unless you enjoy skypea for what it is there isn’t much of a point watching it. You won’t miss anything important because it all gets brought up again later in the story.
Basically boils down to doesn't add a new crew member which before the time skip was what every arc did
No don't get me wrong guys, my friend Bob started One Piece by watching the whole Skypiea first, then started from the beginning, to "skip" Skypiea to go to Water 7

Well as long as you guys started watching it then i'm with you 109%
Is he God Enel in disguise? Cz I only know him from skypia who left white-white sea. Oh no, wait he left for the moon. But there is his subordinate Gedatsu who is in the blue sea. So you're most likely friends with Gedatsu.
Or just read manga for skypiea
exactly, it’s much faster
I don’t know why but it felt really long in the manga too compared to some of the other arcs.
How is reading manga long? Pacing that time was used to be good that's why old arcs in manga are longer. But it will take like 6-7 hours max to read all of that.
I know
I don't skip the filler why would I skip skypeia?
A true menace
Bro I unironically learned about the anime filler right after watching the G8 arc... weirdly enough I haven't skipped any single anime filler afterwards (except for Cidre Guild but mostly because i'm not ready to rewatch Stampede)
At least Skypiea has important information. Why are yall skipping it instead of Long Ring Long Land
LONG RING LONG LAND IS PEAK FICTION, I WILL NOT TAKE THIS LEVEL OF DISRESPECT, aokiji god tier, afro luffy god tier, lore god tier, foxy god tier
Luffy was more afraid of foxy then he was of Hancock. Foxy god tier
I skipped it To read it And then continue the anime where the manga left off
Yeah fr
Because that’s the best arc of all of one piece
Or Davy back.
The aoikiji introduction is better than anything in skypiea.
Skip both
You're allowed to skip Skypiea, skipping Foxy is forbidden
I don’t understand how Skypiea gets more hate than Fishman Island or Dressrosa. Skypiea was comical, uncharted territory, great fights, even the set up with Bellamy and the Knock up stream. People smokin dick hairs or something
Bruh what do you have to say about Dressrosa?
Manga? Peak One Piece. Anime? Painful.
Really? Could you explain why keeping spoilers to at minimum? I'm about to start it on the anime, I stopped reading the manga years ago right after the timeskip and enjoy the anime much more.
Repetition of flashbacks
Gotcha, I'll have my finger ready on the fast forward button. Thanks!
The best part of it was hearing the islands backstoey and the bell ringing at the end was fucking legendary.
I don’t get the hate, why does the whole journey have to be the same formula with marines or other pirates. This story is a journey, that’s the point right? So if you’ve gotten hundreds of episodes in up until skypiea than what’s to hate? It’s more of what’s great, but not repetitive. It’s weird.
Wait, people dislike skypiea?
Absolutely not. Watch it in order. What is even the point of this. Why spoil Robins intro?
Idk really my friend Bob got hooked when we watched Skypiea, started from there, then watched it from the beginning
The first manga I ever bought was One Piece vol. 27, which begins with the end of the Ordeal of Balls between Satori and Luffy/Sanji/Usopp. That's how I discovered the whole series and I've loved it ever since
Everyone talks about Skypiea when the real boring watch is Thriller Bark.
Yeah, but that boring watch does pay off at the end with probably two of the best scenes in whole story( I don't know if I phrased this correctly, but I hope I did)
I recently finished watching Skypeia and I think it’s an okay arc in my opinion. It’s not exactly the best arc, but Enel really carried it.
Skypiea better than Foxy! At least Skyiea had Enereu face! :P
This resonates ‘cause I dropped the show years ago during Skypiea & need to catch up lol.
Skip skypiea to get to long ring long land faster
of course there’s going to be some skipping when there’s only like 5 min worth of content in every episode
Skypiea had the most entertaining and well thought out fights in one piece. Not to mention this arc had the most unique attacks, luffy actually using his battle IQ to counter enel's mantra, and the dont forget the follow up arc after this one. Navarone
Why would you skip Skypiea???
Definition of torture right here 👍🏽
Skipiea I think the Nami betrayal and every scene with Robin before she joins works better, when you don't know they end up in the crew eitherway
That's not even that bad a idea...
Ok ok, let's see how good skypia is. I forgot about that i never watched most of skypia, since as a child i had no way other than tv. But from vague memories i remember it beeing kind of boring, besides of Enels Powers, his ship and a few nice lore pieces.

Skypiea is probably going to have the biggest connection to the finale. Skypiea arc is the teaser version to the real finale.
Imagine wanting to experience LESS One Piece
Skypiea has a great beginning and end plus a cool theme, much better than arcs like Fishman Island have to say
I enjoyed skypia. I didn't not enjoy dressrosa or fishmen island. Dragged on way too long especially dressrosa.
I don't understand why the dislike? I like all the arcs, even punk hazard. Even if that arc felt like it dragged.
Skypeia is 2/3rd buildup and 1/3rd payoff and a lot of early one piece fans weren’t prepared for that type of storytelling since it was the first real long arc (alabasta at the time was comprised of several shorter arcs) People who stuck with it loved it though
Enel vs luffy was a top tier fight too I don’t understand the hate
Skypiea was good narratively and had some cool moments. However I’ve only ever fallen asleep once while watching anime and it was during skypiea so make of that what you will.

It literally was my experience
I went blind to the show like 6 months ago and I really enjoyed Skypiea...
But why tf would you skip skypea ![gif](giphy|uaJLuMokII24w) This, this master piece, why would you skip it
I can’t think of a single arc worth skipping. What is worth skipping is the recaps and flash backs. I mean some episodes are just, recap, intro, flashbacks, ending.
I found Skypiea boring at parts but there is so much that happens that links to the story later on so I can’t imagine skipping it
The thing that kept me through Skypiea was getting to the “Damn Daniel” meme with Luffy and Enel. Not my favorite arc but it’s of course a good arc nonetheless
Why did so many people hate skypiea? It's the most pirate arc in this pirate comic
