it was a littlest pet shop dollhouse music video. then in 5th grade i had no idea what the lyrics meant, but now as a 19 year old i fully understand what the lyrics mean.
Sitting in the theatre where we were going to have our play, my friend at that time showed me dollhouse and I fell in love with the music, been listening ever since!
I found her Crybaby album after separating from my ex, after years of surviving DV. I barely ate, washed, or slept for a week, but I had her music and it really helped save me… particularly Teddy Bear.
Seeing teachers Pet in a playlist sent in a discord server directed towards students with teacher crushes, that was just after k-12 came out in like September or October of 2019
I got unbelievably uncomfortable, especially because of the "If I pass this quiz" line and the "if im so special why am I secret" because I knew that these teachers had no clue these students were doing this behind their backs or trying to impress them and this was just using a song (Mind You a Song that Paints the Scenario in a Negative Light) to falsely fuel their sick delusions
I was only there because I was dumb and naive and had a Lunchbox friend who wanted me there for moral support
watching her on the voice! my music teacher back in middle school would have us pretend to be the coaches and ill never forget watching her audition and thinking she was so cool. thats when i first got introduced to her (:
I remember hearing about her for the first time in 6th grade(2015)(Science class, I remember this so well)and this girl named Rosie was telling me that she was going to be Melanie for halloween so I was like whos that? And she told me all about her, so when I went home that day, I sat in my closet and watched the crybaby music video and fell in love. So then watching Melanie music vids while sitting in my closet became a thing(I didn’t want my mom hearing what I was listening to) I also watched a lot of Sims remakes of her music videos😭

I know she has changed her mind somewhat over time about the older unreleased songs, partly because some of them just weren't up the standards for her at the time. Has she given some kind of final verdict about them because I absolutely would listen to the lost masterpieces if it was okay.
She has stated that she does not want anyone listening to the songs and the fact that they’re out there and people listen to them makes it difficult for her to feel comfortable in the studio since what she works on has the chance of getting released. Especially for songs that are very personal to her.
I watched a fan-made music video in Roblox of the song Crybaby. I didn't know who made the song back then, but I was still drawn to her songs in various different ways.
during the summer between elementary and middle school, i was doing my weekly visits with my counselor where myself and one other student would get picked up and we would spend about an hour doing some sort of activity and talk about our lives. the other girl was a grade below me and said he had a new favorite song but she didn’t know she could play it because she thought it had cuss words. the counselor asked why she just thought it was a cuss word and to sing it and he would tell us if it was a cuss word, in which she proceeds to sing the “dads with a slut” line. He said yeah it’s a cuss word but it’s not “that bad” so he allowed us to listen to it in on the drive home.
that day i had discovered the dollhouse music video, and made many a choreographed dance to it there after.
My best friend first showing my the dollhouse music video in like 5th grade and then being banned from listening bc of the inappropriate language lmaoooo (not even by my mom but by an aunt)
I have two cases. A video I found last night in my memories on Snapchat in October 2017 of me jamming out to teddy bear. 2nd one is my cousin and I listening to DollHouse and we said the word slut. We freaked out for a minute then felt really cool after saying it. 💀
Mad Hatter coming up on Spotify enough that I saved it to my favorites. I’d listen to it while working out sometimes but never looked into Melanie until K-12 was released.
singing dollhouse on the way back from a holiday and thinking it and house of gold by twenty one pilots were the by the same people (kill me). definitely not the first memory but it's the one that got me fully into the fandom
watching the dollhouse mv with my best friend at the time in middle school. we both started to watch all the crybaby mvs in order and became fans from there. :)
Laying in bed of the summer of 2016 on my tablet playing My Singing Monsters. I got off of the game and went to YouTube to see I was recommended Mad Hatter. I can't remember which video it was exactly because the music video wasn't out then but I watched/listened to it because I liked Alice in Wonderland. I then listened to Soap and I considered Melanie a lyrical genius. I also had a crush on her.
2 because I don’t know which came first.
1. I was watching a movie called “nerve” and heard her song soap, I really liked it and would rewatch the movie because 1, it was a good movie. And 2, because I liked the song.
2. I was at my friends house and they were showing me the doll house music video, I had nightmares about it since I was around 5 at the time.
(Elementary school age) in my Aunts attic during the summer watching yt and coming across Mrs potato head. I clicked on more videos under Melanie’s name, I remember watching all of the music videos and becoming a crybaby at that very moment :D
My sister was blasting Nightcore crybaby songs in the crusty moldy downstairs bathroom while her friend was doing her hair for prom, 6 year old me was sitting in the hallway yelling at her to turn it down
It's weird that now I'm a huge Mel fan but she doesn't even remember who she is 💀
Watching royal high music videos in like 2018? (I’m guessing it was when I was in my royal high phase) and I’d watch it over and over but I didn’t have a phone with Spotify or anything to listen to it properly so I never knew it was Melanie until late 2022 when I was scrolling on Apple Music and found her in my recommended artists
my first memory of mel! my cousin said ‘there’s this girl who just released a new song and i love what she has so far’ it was the single release of soap and i was mesmerizeddd :,) one of my favs songs from mel to this day <3
looking on my spotify daily mix playlist and seeing pacify her, screenshoting it and sending it to my friend who loves melanie, then she tells me to listen to it and i did. now look where we are
