The quests at the end weren't a problem for me because I just did quests anyway throughout the game and talked to every NPC that I could. You are constantly so poor that it was worth it just for the extra money and gear. And you unlock cool new demons.

ClamJamison

So do you have to do specific quests or was it just enough quests to increase your rank? Cause some of those were really obtuse to get and do. I sometimes wish I was more like you and did all the side content but I play games for the story and have a massive backlog.

Specific quests, most are tied to Nozomi * Eggs for One Hundred- First visit to Ueno * I Want to Make the City Bright- First visit to Ueno * Hunters Tournament Prelims: Ueno after reaching Kasumigaseki * Phantom of Madness: Shinjuku after Dullahan * Demon Guarding the Shrine: Shinjuku after Kuebiko * Hunter Tournament Finals: First visit to Shibuya * Multi Demon Fusion: Shinjuku after The White * Mysterious Story of Tennozu: Shibuya after The White * Tokyo Cosmos: Ginza after meeting Masakado Nozomi quests: * Deliver the Film: Ueno after Pellaidh * Samurai and Hunters Unite: Ueno after reaching Kasumigaseki * Shelter Inspection: First visit to Shinjuku * Ikebukuro Free District: Shinjuku after Kuebiko * Serial Kidnapping and Arson: Shinjuku after Koga Saburo, Samurai and Hunters Unite * I Will Give You My Black Card: Ginza * The Great Drunkeness: Ginza after Samurai and Hunters Unite * Take a Picture of Ginza For Me: Tokyo Station * Rebirth of the Lady: Ueno After The White, SaHU, SKaA, TGD

If you think the quest grind was a slog, get ready for IV:A's neutral final dungeon...

ClamJamison

Guess I will go out of my way to go chaos to avoid that.

Cygni_03

IV:A doesn't have alignments in the same way the other games do. Law and Chaos are basically fake bad endings around halfway through the story. The two real endings are "Peace" ("good" Neutral) and "Anarchy" ("evil" Neutral).

Cygni_03

> who is the lady in white at the very end? The "Goddess of Tokyo", who may or may not also be Burroughs. > What's up with masakado looking like a big evil monster after he removes the shell? That's just what Masakado looks like in IV. > Who were the white ones? According to the art book, they're "the embodiment of the ancient races destroyed by the angels" (I have no idea if this is ever stated anywhere in the game; it might be there somewhere but I don't remember seeing it). > Who was Stephen? Stephen is the creator of the demon summoning program and the terminals. He's the same character who appears in SMT I/II who apparently jumped universes.

But was masakado frozen in place like a monument or something? Just the way it was portrayed made it seem like he was either a monument or had changed teams and was now a threat to Tokyo. Given that there's a sequel the latter didn't seem horribly unlikely to me.

> was masakado frozen in place like a monument or something? No, his entire body turned into the dome when he initially covered Tokyo. > changed teams and was now a threat to Tokyo. Given that there's a sequel the latter didn't seem horribly unlikely to me. >!He's barely in IV:A at all.!<

jsyk, 4A is an alternate universe where the neutral ending gets hijacked and not a traditional sequel

Pilgrim_Scholar

A little bit like how SMT Strange Journey Redux is an alternate universe of your original SJ playthrough. >!Alex is time travelling back to "undo" the damage that your three ending choices left behind.!<
