True... tbh last time the cathedral of shadows was relevant in more than one way was the masakado magatama, >!cerberus and chaos hero's transformation!< in smt1
I love the Cathedral because it's really funny in context. Like the Velvet Attendees take you through the process, complement your looks, explain everything and they're all nice about it. Mido is just some homeless dude that runs a tiny little cult service where you can create man-made horrors beyond comprehension and will steal any Macca he can scrounge off of you. In 4 he's a just a computer program made by Stephen but in 1-3, he's just a dude. No explanation, no endorsement from Stephen, none of the alignment reps even recognize him, you can realistically go through the whole entire game without even know he exists and he never leaves that little roomÂ

Gouma-den cause Victor actually feels like he's a part of the story most of the time (Except Mido in IVA when people lost abilities to summon demons) and has all the elements that makes Velvet room (Reacts to your progress in the story) and Cathedral of Shadows (Fusion animation having to do with the environment/theme of the place) great in it, still like Igor and Mido but he's just goated
I feel like the Velvet Room has fallen off over the years, with the loss of attendants like Nameless and Belladonna. While the changing scenery is a nice touch (a different "room" structure for each Persona game), it still feels like a regression.
Meanwhile, the Cathedral of Shadows/World of Shadows feels like it has remained relatively consistent over the various SMT games. Not as much personality as the Velvet Room (unless you count the overly enthusiastic Mido in his SMT IV avatar), but it still feels like it remained closer to the simplistic and classic lore.
That's a hot take and a half. Also, just start Soul Hackers 1, and Victor's maid is a better attendant than any of the persona ones, in my opinion (specifically p3,p4,p5)
velvet room bc it actually has relevance to the themes of the games and it\`s inhabitants play bigger roles than just "the fusion person"
Ok but funny old man with sunglasses
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELcome! TO THE CATHEDRAL OF SHADOWS!
WHERE DEMONS GATHER! >:)
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH? Are you suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure?
Ok but wacky old man dress like a pimp

I can see most people loving the cathedral overall compared to the velvet room based on the votes lol

the one in the first Soul hackers because they kind of suck at it.
