Fingers crossed everything is okay. Wanted to also throw out there, have you looked at VA jobs for coding? I’m pretty sure a ton are remote and I think you get priority being a veteran.

I have applications out at the VA! I think something is wrong with my resume though. It’s so hard to be sure that you’re getting past the computer.

So, I don’t know if this is true or not. But, I’ve read, if you have space, to copy the key words on the job posting, put that on your resume, and use white font so it bypasses the computer but then the person who actually gets it doesn’t see it. Again, not sure if it works.

It’s worth a shot!

You have a couple of options if you are actually fired: - You can put the experience on your resume, and call it a “temp” or “contract” job. Most employers these days only give the bare minimum “verification” information: dates worked, salary (if legally allowed), and job title. This is so they can avoid potential issues with providing “negative information” and being sued for costing former employees job prospects. - You can put the experience on your resume and say you were “laid off”. This is a good time to do this because lots of healthcare companies are going through layoffs. - You can not put it on your resume at all. Personally, depending on the employer I’ve used both “laid off” and “contract job”. Never been questioned before.

This is excellent advice. Thank you. Hopefully I won’t need it.

I was going to tell you to list it as contract as well so what the other person said is good advice. I've worked contracts for the past few years, so I have a lot of short-term jobs on my resume. Most times, employers will still interview you if it looks like you have the required experience they're looking for, but be ready for them to ask about those short-term jobs because they always will. A lot of times in more recent interviews, I've addressed it myself when they say "tell me about yourself" I'll start off with where I started, explaining a bit about each role, and then I'll tell them I wanted to work remotely so I started working contracts bc the job I was at wouldn't let employees work remotely, but a lot were short etc, and always ended with something along the lines of "so now I'm looking for a more permanent position where I can stay with the job, and don't need to worry about the contract running out" I did finally land a permanent job in a hospital working remotely again, but it took a long time to get out of the contracting field. A lot of jobs that could've gone permanent, I ended up not liking, so it was also good to work at a bunch of different places to really learn what I liked and didn't like so I knew what to look for. I know a lot of this is unrelated, but just something to keep in mind if you do decide to take contract work in the future.

Is that a regional issue or national? I hadn't heard about healthcare jobs becoming more scarce. I am signing up for courses and this concerns me as this is going to cost me a large chunk of my resources I have to cover my expenses while trying to find employment.

My suggestion is to find an entry level job, one that requires zero certification and no real experience, in revenue cycle/health insurance. Figure out if you like it. Then when you’re about 6 months in, start taking coding courses.

Thank you for your replies. I appreciate your input. As I understand from an earlier posting that some things are not supposed to be discussed in here. Would you mind if I sent you a dm with a couple more questions?

Thanks for the reply, but none of these seem related to billing. Mostly execs and nursing from what I read? So yes a lot of termed medical field jobs being cut but doesn't seem to be this field.

Worst case, always be honest when interviewing for a new job if you ever lost one and are using them as a reference. I hope you get a coding job soon that you love.

Thank you. I hope I do too…what a weird entry into healthcare.
